GIRLS, Lena Dunham (2016)
gaigehetchmen:
If she had chosen to hit him, he wouldnât have faulted her for it, but he couldnât have guaranteed a positive response. Fortunately for her, she had withheld and withdrew before he even had to make a move to catch her by the wrist before her hand could collide with his cheek. He just turned his head when she stepped closer, evading her heated gaze like his life depended on it. More for her sake than his own. âYou have me all figured out.â He murmured, turning the key to finally start up the engine, realizing now that he shouldâve kept it in a stale. She couldâve leveled with him, refrained from putting him on the defense right off the jump, but she hadnât. Gaige was going to be stuck in his ways, whether she liked it or not. âItâs all on me, Teagan. Happy? Itâs all on me.â With a sigh of defeat, he decided not to add any more fuel to the fire and pulled his helmet on.
Her eyes rolled as she continued to walk home. There was nothing to say anymore. Their relationship didnât exceed further than sex. In fact, it was evident that they hated one another outside of that sexual component. Her talking annoyed him and his cold personality infuriated her. Therefore, there was nothing more to say or to talk about now that the sex was put to an end. âIâm not blaming you for liking someone, but for the way you went about it.â It was the last thing she would tell him. Though she could only hope that he knew from this point on she would not call or reach out to him. After being rejected multiple times without any real explanation and again with the confession of his desire to pursue something, it had really been taken out of her hands. The engined stared and she didnât look back when it made itâs way down the street. She was probably better off.
gaigehetchmen:
âFor fuckâs sake, it was a joke. Thatâs your problem, you know that? You take everything at face value. That makes you impossible to have a conversation with.â Gaige rolled his eyes, already beginning to prep his helmet again. He could see that this was going nowhere, and even if he was to blame for it all, he knew that the best way to escape an argument was to simply walk away. His temper was boiling, and it was a miracle that he hadnât raised his voice or overstepped his boundaries to do what he always did, manhandle her in her own apartment. âI really donât have an issue here, so I donât know why weâre even arguing.â Other than that being the exact thing that they did whenever they were together. âAnd yeah, maybe it is, but thatâs not something Iâm obligated to share with you, remember? If you want something from me, tell me, or else let me fuck off because youâre being the fucking worst when you start jumping to conclusions.â Her words of finality caught him, causing his tongue to press firmly against the roof of his mouth, jaw flexing. His voice softened significantly when he finally responded. âThat was all you had to say, Tea.â This was why he didnât deal with people; he didnât know how.
It took everything inside of Teagan not to cross the distance between them and slap him. The way he jumped over every little thing she said and took no fault for any of it, instead pinning it all on her. As if she was the one putting an end to it when heâd denied her and actually admitted to wanting to stop. God, this was a waste of her time and worst of all, he wasnât worth her time nor was he even a decent person. âYou better fucking leave because I will hit you. Youâre so wrapped up in yourself that you canât even see the shit youâre doing and you constantly have to deflect on everyone else.â Her jaw tightened as she stepped close, having to remind herself to stop and not venture any closer before she actually did something sheâd later on regret. âIf I want something from you? Itâs all Iâve been fucking doing! I ran into you, laughed and played nice and then you continued to act like a jerk until forcing us to have this discussion.â She stepped back and rose her hands. âYou know what, sure. Put this on my back because apparently itâs all youâre good for. Especially when youâre the one who initially put an end to this. Youâre mad that I said Iâd find someone else? Youâre such a fucking child and hypocrite. --- You know what, good fucking riddance.â The brunette turned around, clearly done with the conversation and the male.
malcolmremington:
âAye Aye Madame street walker. One last piece of advice, remember to always look both ways before crossing the street. Simple life lesson you shouldnât ever forget.â
âMhm,â she spoke absentmindedly, her hand waving in hopes that it would get him to stop. âRight back at you.â
malcolmremington:
âYikes. Probably a bad idea to ask directions from a stranger. Like kids and candy, shouldâve learned that lesson a long time ago. Oh, and donât watch the news. Thatâs the real scary shit.âÂ
âIâm not even going to waste my breath talking to stupid for any longer than necessary. Just remember that youâre a guy, Iâm a girl and your sarcastic bullshit thatâs spewing from your mouth isnât necessary or wanted.â
gaigehetchmen:
âTeagan, youâre overreacting.â Gaige spoke flatly after having listened to her go on her small tangent. His arms folded to rest over the helmet that had now settled in his lap. âThe only thing I ever implied was that the timing is inconvenient. Can you relax? And youâre right, Iâm not a child, so if youâre going to talk to me, treat me like an adult before you really piss me off.â He didnât have to explain himself to her, she had no clue what was going on in his personal life and he planned to keep it that way. Neither of them had expressed any interest in getting to know one another beyond the physical element of their relationship, but he had his reasons from refraining this time around. âI canât tell if you think I donât want to fuck you because I donât enjoy it or because I just like messing with your head. I have some shit going on, I donât expect you to understand, but I have to see it through. But trust me, when I fuck up and it doesnât work out, youâll be the first girl I call.â His lips twitched, a small smirk coinciding with his next suggestion. âNow suck it up, turn around and give me a hug.â
Teagan immediately gritted her teeth when he told her she was overreacting. He already was walking on thin ice and if he was in the middle of trying to get her to calm down -- that was not the way to do it. âThen how about you stop acting like a damn child? Donât tell me Iâm overreacting or that I come on too strong.â It was already hard enough being the new person in this big town, especially when she barely had time to go out and meet people with her busy schedule. It was why she relied so much on her deal with Gaige --- until he begun to circle the bush. He didnât really had to say it, it was clear enough by his comment about returning when he would fuck things up. âAre you fucking kidding me?â Her head shook and she groaned. âNo, first off, if you have an issue than you speak up rather than make it seem like something else. Like Iâm in the wrong for making a move in the first place. Second, this would happen to me. A fucking relationship?â Now she was more annoyed than anything else. âI donât do hugs. Itâs fine, Gaige. Iâll find someone else.â Even though her words came out sounding like if he was just a piece of meat sheâd used when she needed, she couldnât be bothered.Â
malcolmremington:
âNow why would you do that? You came to me and Iâm giving you advice how not to get attacked. I think all in all Iâm doing my civic duty. The police department can bow at my very presence with this one.âÂ
âBecause mentioning how someone would get fingered or how I could potentially be attacked in my car is a fucked up thing. So, now turn around and walk away before I do make good on my words.â
malcolmremington:
âOh I donât about that, itâs cold out. Someone would probably wait until youâre within reach of their car. Odds of that are nothinâ too, roads are icy.â
âAm I going to need to call the police against you? --- Stay the fuck away from me.â
gaigehetchmen:
Gaige wasnât going to fight her on it. Her eagerness to leave made it a hell of a lot easier for him to say no. He was under no illusion that sheâd somehow walk into her apartment with a regret to spare, but he did feel the smallest twinge of guilt for leading her to believe that something else would come from their brief encounter. Even if the anticipation had only been so brief. He couldnât say that he hadnât considered it though, he really couldnât. âIâm not trying to be a jerk, you know? You come on so fucking strong, whatâs a guy supposed to do?â He huffed, tethering up the spare helmet, turning the key once more. âYeah, whatever, back at you.â
Teagan couldnât help the laughter that exuded from her lips at his words. She turned towards him then with a raised brow. Almost as if to ask if he was joking. âWhat? You think Iâm mad at you?â Her head shook as she crossed her arms. âFirst of all, fuck you for even trying to blame me in any way about what or how I come on to someone. Secondly, were you waiting for me to bring you a date? I thought it was clear that I work a lot and you were here for sex. If you wanted it or I wanted it. Nothing more and nothing less. Though please, if thatâs not what you wanted or understood, at least have the decency to speak up. Youâre not a child. I donât have time to try to figure out what games youâre playing.â She watched him then before shaking her head. âNor am I going to waste my time on whatever bullshit is going on with you.â Her head shook as she turned around, not believing the entire encounter. It had started off nice, filled with compliments and good humour only to end this way.Â
emil-gabor:
Emil laughed softly. âI do not know anything about the one you were promised, but I can assure you that I have never had any complaints,â he said. He shook his head. âNo, on weekends we open late. I have plenty of time.â He smiled over at her as they walked. âWhat brought you to Lanford, if I may ask?â
âThatâs good enough for me.â She smiled at him and then nodded her head when he commented on how he had time to join her. âGood. I was kind of hoping I could talk someone into spending a little bit of time with my lonesome self.â the brunette tucked a strand behind her ear before glancing around. âIâm a resident surgeon. I came here for residency.â
malcolmremington:
âGood for you. Maybe youâll get a chance to use it.âÂ
âI think Iâll use it sooner than iâve anticipated.â
gaigehetchmen:
Gaige could feel the tension, the way her body seemed to refuse to become malleable against his back. She was stiff, her arms tight, and for once, he couldnât really blame her for having such an adverse side effect to his behavior. Normally he would at least give her a few cues every now and then, just to assure her that he was interested in what she was offering. Normally. Shutting off the engine, Gaige lowered the kickstand once more and waited patiently for Teagan to climb off, tugging at his helmet in hopes of exchanging it for the other. He reached for her, graciously loosening up the straps on hers. âI know youâre just dying to say something smart-aleckyâŠâ
Teagan was happy to see her apartment complex come into view after a little while on the bike. Her body had already lifted from his back before the bike came to a full halt, indicating her desire to leave. Though her hands were already at work on the straps, she allowed him to remove them. âNope,â the brunette said plainly, dropping the bags on the ground to take off the helmet and return it to him. âIâm pretty sure everything that needed to be said was said.â She hoped he caught on. That she was hinting towards his behaviour and how chances were that she wasnât invested enough to actually reach out more than she had. If someone wasnât interested, than so be it. It was as simple as that. When the helmet was returned to him, the brunette plucked her bags and retreated to the side walk. âTake care of yourself, Hetchmen.â
gaigehetchmen:
Gaigeâs usual tactic wouldâve been to completely ignore the hand that had ventured below his waist, but instead he took her sharply by the wrist and braced her palm against his stomach. She was persistent, and he would be foolish not to expect her to try again. He knew what her end goal was, and he wouldâve been readily available to her had they ran into one another a week earlier, but now things were a bit more complicated. At the very least he could imagine that Teaganâs arms were someone elseâs, but that in itself only made matters worse, made it harder to ignore the brunette behind him. Revving up the engine, Gaige pulled away curb and lifted his feet, speeding down the road without care, confident in his recollection of his passengerâs strong grip.
Teagan rolled her eyes when he dramatically pulled her wrist from the front of his jeans towards his stomach. Her tongue clicked against the roof of her mouth and while she thought about lowering them once more, she was really beginning to be over him and his attitude. Instead, she focused on the road and the passersby until they arrived to her home. In the end, she was hoping to be a little more impressed by him, but on the same note, wouldnât lose much sleep over it at all. Though she needed to have some kind of talk with him. About whether or not she should call him again, she didnât like these kind of games. He knew what she wanted and she wasnât afraid to ask for it. In the end, she expected the same line of directness from him.
malcolmremington:
âNo? You donât think so? What if I said one way leads to a guarantee attempted robbery and minor finger dingle assault, the other a slim chance of unwanted finger fucks but still possible. That thereâs a round about way avoiding all of that?âÂ
âWhat?â She asked with a furrowed brow, bringing her purse closer to her, mostly because whatever he was describing sounded a lot like... Well, something bad. âYou should know that I have pepper spray and Iâm not afraid to use it.â
gaigehetchmen:
âI was very nice to you the first time we met.â Gaige pointed out. She hadnât found it prudent to be pleasant with him since. Then again, both of them knew that the pleasantries werenât necessary at this point. Their little dynamic only ever worked when they were annoyed; that, or feeling certain degrees of hatred for one another. Gaige wished that he didnât have to hate her, but it was hard not to feel negatively towards someone that would build him up only to tear him down again. But then again, he did the same thing to her. He thought over her words for a moment and offered a shrug of his shoulders. âThatâs fair enough.â He admitted before sliding on his own helmet. âThatâll be the day youâll see a grown man cry.â With that, Gaige snapped her wind guard down with a resounding âsnapâ and a chuckle, muffling out anything she would choose to say thereafter. He climbed onto the back of the bike, knocked up the kickstand with his heel and ignited the engine with a smooth turn of his key. âBetter hold on to your stuff really tight.â
âWere you?â She thought about it for a moment. âI thought that we had ended with some hate sex? Maybe that was just me -- I canât really remember.â The brunette said with a smug look on her face. Just like when someone commented about her skills in bed, she could only assume that those comments got to Gaige. It had to. Her intention wasnât necessarily to make him feel bad because he was very skilled, but to rile him up. Either with the hope that he would later on push that frustration on her or for her to get him to a certain point before walking away as punishment. âDonât talk too quickly. Iâve made many grown men cry.â In her profession, tears, puke, sweat and blood were a common occurrence but he didnât have to know that she meant her words in a different sense. With the snap of her wind guard, the brunette sent him a look that could kill. âDick,â she groaned out, wrapping her arms tightly around her waist and double checking that all her things were tightly in place. âFocus on the road.â Her hands hung low, fingers played with the top button of his jeans, waiting patiently for him to head off.
sierra-moore:
âLanford is always changing⊠There was a storm last year, wiped out much of the townââ She shrugged, looking over to the empty unit where Audreyâs restaurant had once stood. âThings are still being rebuilt in places. Westbrook is all done though, mostlyâŠâ Sierra looked down at her hand and did the same, shaking it a couple of times before heading towards the coffee shop. âNice to meet you, Iâm Sierra.â
âI think I heard of the storm, but I didnât know it was that bad.â Teagan said as she glanced around rather curious to know what was old and what was new. âI can only imagine the things that were lost amidst the chaos.â With a shake of her head, she finally smiled at the other. âPleasure is all mine. So, I was kind of hoping you might be able to tell me whatâs fun around here. Preferably with alcohol.â
jasonluca:
Usually the girls he was attracted to had a wicked sense of sarcasm and he honestly couldnât pinpoint hers. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips instead of his typical eyeroll. âJason.â He replied back, extending his hand to shake hers. âI mean, yeah. Names help.â Giving his order to the barista, she began to make their drinks. He turned to her, refusing to let any awkward silences get in the way. âTeagan. What brings you to Lanford?â
âJason,â she tested the name on her tongue before nodding her head. âIâm actually doing my residency, so I felt like it was about time to venture out into the world on my own. How about you?â She asked. As someone a little more timid upon first meeting strangers, it was only after a while that she got comfortable and let her darker jokes come out.Â
