Admix Event - MVP testing
In a partnership with the Chimera Council (student council at California College of the Arts, with the goal of designing and coordinating community events that support student life), we are doing our first official event (and getting the chance to test our product) on Tuesday, April 29th from 11-12pm in SF CCA's Nave . We will be conducting a Smoothie Workshop where we can teach the process and recipes used to create healthy fruit smoothies to boost the energy and health of the students.
Behind the scenes, we had to craft and submit a proposal, estimate ingredient cost, purchase ingredients, design branding materials and plan our needs for the event.
We are very excited about our event and we will be registering everything and posting as soon as possible!

Revisiting Old Ideas for Partnerships, Interviews and MVP Progress
We decided to revisit our old research, especially our findings from the mall and paper prototype experience. From it, we narrowed down workplace wellness activities that people would like to have brought into the office immediately. Amongst ourselves, we divided the activity categories into Fun, Active, Educational, and Food-related. Generally, people liked to have an even mix of these activities to feel that they were getting a good wellness experience.
We are sticking to our goal that the vendors are MOBILE and will travel to provide ON-SITE EXPERIENCES.
Here were some of the ideas:
Educational:
Improv/Public Speaking/Storytelling
Dress for Success
Software (broad range)
Workplace Strategies
Stress Relief
Hackathons
Fitness/Active:
Acupuncture

Interviewing to see if employees would like these activities at work:
Additionally, we are reworking our personas (workspace manager and vendors) to help guide us in our mvp.
We are sketching and prototyping how we want a workspace manager to access our webpage to schedule events for their workspace. We want to provide a page of activities to select from (for one time users) and also include a subscription club where a monthly fee offers curated experiences.
We are considering if we need to offer web access for vendors to list their deal/service.

Beyond Massage Services
Admix came to the point where we realized that we have explored our idea of providing massage services enough time, now we must move forward and explore other wellness services.
This moment of moving on and exploring other services is both exciting and critical. We asked ourselves very tough questions:
1 on 1 or group activities or both?
Having the activity outside of the office or just at the office space?
Bringing outside people into the company space or just having company people?
Delivering a kit of wellness goodies to companies?
Time constraints? Is this activity within the timespan of lunch time or after work hours?
What are workplace-appropriate activities?
Furthermore, we are revisiting our previous customer research and interviews in the past to learn insights that we may have overlooked. Excited to see the fruitful results.

Customer Segment Pivot
On Friday night, we discussed the importance of the advice that was imparted to us by Jessica from Thursday's discussion. Where is the need? Where is the funding?
Initially, we looked to assist small to medium-sized companies and co-working spaces. It seemed as if the need was equally great in both areas. However, was there a real benefit for co-working spaces with adding perks? We pondered this again. Would more people join the spaces? Would greater work productivity (from perks) ultimately do anything for the spaces? We realized: no, it would not. Furthermore, these working spaces did not have the luxury to try the add-on perks solely for the interest of a few people. This was why we decided to go back to our previous research and look deeply into small companies again.
We didn't want to target small companies based on industry, but rather explore all of the companies that were available to us. Our assumptions of gaining interest from mostly tech and health-related companies could easily be proven wrong, so we started gathering contacts, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers again.
In the meantime, we started to sharpen up our cost structure. We started to understand the ways that this might change very quickly (and drastically) change in the near future with the growth of our team, and began estimating costs in line with growth. We took into account the customer service, sales, maintenance, rent, plus other things. After calculating everything, we realized that it was important for us to remember these initially estimated figures for future [careful] budgeting.

FOUNDER DATING is for entrepreneurs to have access to the right people to create the right structure in a company. Finding the working and personality style and fit. Learning what I need in working with someone (ex. 5-10 hours a week).
Why not work at a startup right after school?
A lot of designers think I need to do it all by myself, but there are ways to find other people and that I don't have to do it all by myself. Design has become thinking through how a problem is set up and how to solve it.

Admix Attending UNCUBED
Yesterday, UNCUBED by Wakefield was in San Francisco. UNCUBED featured talks from various start-ups and companies - all openly sharing their knowledge about the industry. There were plenty of instructions to make a minimum viable product and to understand your market. Admix members also met many national and local companies. Although we did not pitch our services because we weren't permitted to, we were inspired by the ideas that drive these companies. A wonderful motivation for us.

WEEK 8: WHAT'S NEXT?
Steps:
- Reconsider our strategy: (since we have reached a large number of spaces and people to offer their services) has it been effective enough? should we change the way we reach out for these people? should we add/change what is being offered? Should we try reaching other spaces as well? (i.e. incubation spaces) Should we limit ourselves on only working with spaces within SF/Bay Area?
- Negotiation between the two parties: should we make our third contact with the massage therapists and let them know about the rates/fees we have established?
- We have determined that we will be combining elements of the three different landing pages we have created in the past week. We should now come to a final decision and start working on it. We will consider MVP testing the page again. How will we be advertising our page? Facebook? Hulu?
- Test our concierge MVP

Week 6: Co-Working Spaces
To better understand our audience, we decided to check out some co-working spaces hosting free walk-in Fridays. Luckily, we were able to receive tours of the spaces and talk to the managers/owners about perks that they had attempted, and perks that they would be open to trying. We discussed the lifestyles and careers of the members, and how these factors created the dynamic in the space. It was a great learning experience to see these spaces in person and get a feel for everything in a more personal and closer manner.
The first co-working space had high ceilings, separated tables made for 1-4 people, a small kitchen space, 2 conference rooms, a phone booth, a pool table, office chairs, and laptop stations. The atmosphere was library-like. People were doing their own thing on their own laptops or taking private conference calls, and many of them were freelancers. There was a lack of mingling and the space seemed mainly to be for work productivity.
On the other hand! We visited another space, only to find that it was pretty different. It was also great for working, but it had more separated rooms for privacy, a maze of different working spaces, a cheery orange color palette, more mingling, and more couches for short naps. Here, people of many different kinds of careers intermingled and did more than just do their work at the space. People occasionally went running together in small groups, there was a happy hour on Fridays, etc. Also, in our conversation with the owner of this space, we learned that "community" was heavily emphasized, that people were made to feel comfortable, at home.
Altogether, we learned that we could never learn enough about our audience! That co-working spaces were a niche audience, but they were complex in all the ways that they varied. We had to continue learning about them to gain a deeper understanding of what it was that we could do for them. Every space was different, and we had to find the right ways we could accommodate each and every one.
Week 6 : Class - How to take money, Elevator Pitch
Sales Cycle for Admix:
