It had been a while since Dia had actually visited this chamber. The last time she did, she had still been a Carbink.
And then, suddenly, she wasn’t anymore.
“Okay… no more stalling. You’re sure you want to see this, so I’m sure I want to show you this. There’s a big platform in here but there’s not really steps, so um… be careful, if you wanna follow me in at all.”
The Diancie pushes the doors open to reveal…
Darkness, at first, the light from the gems in the corridor only barely filtered into this chamber.
Until she floated inside, that is. On the far wall something lit up, turning slowly inside of one of the crystals on the wall, and in turn Dia’s own crystals began to glow as well.
“Here it is- the thing I’ve been puzzling over for some time now.”
It was, of course, the Time Gear.

Kini shuddered, her fur stood on end, not out of any fear that she would admit, but from energy. It was a tingling she couldn’t get rid of.
“Dia what, what is that thing?”
Kini took a few steps in and after a moment, found a path for her to jump up next to the Diancie. She stared at the gear.
“Dia I. I don’t know what in distortion this is but I’m getting shudders right now.”
Dia watched Kini jump onto the raised floor, and when she was close enough, put a hand on the Vulpix’s shoulder.
“This is my- er, this is a, Time Gear. They’re gears that come from a dungeon called Temporal Tower, created by a pokemon called Dialga, and distributed to remote and generally secure locations to be protected by a handful of chosen guardians.” she explains, with a tone that definitely sounds somewhat rehearsed.
“And, um. Evidently I’m the newest one of those. That’s why I’m trying to get stronger. So that the choice actually makes sense, you know?”
“I know I’m not that bright, but if I can at least be strong, it’ll be better than nothing, right? There’s a lot that I don’t know, but what I do know is that I want - no, I need - to be the best protector here that I can be. Even if I just feel like running away.”
