david is a tobio kageyama kinnie

going from a super closed off dude who was hyperfocused on his goal (becoming a reliable alpha) to the point of pushing away his family and building a wall around himself. doing all this while not really having much faith in himself that he even can reach said goal

(kageyama, after he lost the trust of his old team. closing himself off and becoming this asshole tyrant to his teammates because he needed to become the best setter. he needed to prove to the people that doubted him that he could be the best)

to opening up to angel about why he's so driven and letting himself relax and be happy in a relationship. letting them help him realize that, he already is a good alpha, and he can be even better. and letting himself work on getting to where he wsnts to be without putting himself in such a lonely situation

(kageyama, letting himself rely on hinata and the rest of karasuno and being able to trust them. knowing that they won't just leave him like his old team did, but they'll help him to improve himself in a way that helps the team. also, letting hinself actually have fun with the game instead of just playing it to improve his skills)

basically. it's in the catalyst for character development and the way he developed. bot of them had a person come into their lives and helped them to realize how they can grow as people yk

kageyama met hinata who helped him see that the point of the game wasn't just to be good at it on your own, but to rely on your teammates to help you win while having fun and treating yourself as a person instead of a machine

david met angel, who helped him take down his walls and open up about the things weighing him down; gabe's death, the sudden change of beta to alpha (and the losses and relationship changes that came with it) and his feelings of inadequacy when it came to leading his pack. and they're helping him realize that he doesn't have to bottle everything up just because he's the alpha. that he's allowed to have, and express his feelings in a healthy way, and still be able to improve as an alpha
