Seeing fans complain about the fandom “no longer being fun” after they got called out for their apathy and hypocrisy in their contrasting treatment of the co-leads. And don’t even get me started about the dooming over the season 2 press tour potentially having less hudcon moments.

This Off Campus fan tweeted this after Belmont didn’t physically touch his women co-stars at the ObsessedFest photo op.

Stan/shipping culture has a huge misogyny problem. This tendency for fans to hate on an actor’s non-famous partner will forever perplex me. Like why are so many fans more obsessed with these actors’ personal lives instead of their projects?

“Deliver the content the fandom deserves”. The only content fans deserve is the work itself. No one is entitled to “cute” or “wholesome” moments between actors during a press tour. Not when these moments get used to fuel imaginary and invasive ships.

This fan continues to say that these actors should choose a new career path if they aren’t ready to be shipped with their co-star. The audacity omg. These people are actors, not your personal Barbie dolls ffs. If the only way you can engage in media is through shipping real people, you need to take some serious time off social media.

I’m already seeing Heated Rivalry fans dooming about Connor and Hudson potentially being less affectionate during the season 2 press run. I have no doubt that if that happens, shippers will spew even more hate and harassment at Hudson’s partner. Because who else should be blamed but a woman?

I know RPFing is inevitable in fandom spaces, but it is upsetting and alarming to witness fans, especially young women fans, resort to misogynistic rhetoric when things don’t go their way. They are basically red-pilling themselves.

acknowledging that isn’t crucifying him. it doesn’t take away from his talent or how hard he’s worked. but this constant need to soften or balance it so no one gets uncomfortable is getting irritating. especially when you realize that the people you are trying to placate are some of the most vile people to exist in a fandom.

Connor is enjoying a level of grace from the cast, crew, media and fandom that Hudson simply isn’t. simple. that’s what white privilege looks like. simple.

it doesn’t make him at fault, but the conditions are not the same. Hudson has to be twice as everything to get half of that.

trying to ‘both sides’ it makes you look ..well. There are other ways to uplift both of them, many other ways. but when someone points out something about Hudson in this industry , dont try to bring in Connor trying to #Himtoo , it is not the same and i don’t give a flying fuck whom that makes uncomfortable.
