everything at once;
Writing is a niche that gives him courage to always try his hardest and hopefully succeed in, but it isn’t Jae’s only interest. Throughout high school, he leaned towards sports to relieve stress from home, and to hide his embarrassment from his strong liking towards writing. Back then, he couldn’t adapt to compliments about his writing and found it uncomfortable to hear. His friends at the time used to poke fun at his writing, and Jae had taken it seriously causing him to pretend it wasn’t a goal to become a writer. It was a strange time. He was fortunate enough to grow out of it.
Now that he’s a junior in university, Jae realized how much he missed playing sports and how little he focused on it. The writer hadn’t been the best athlete in high school, yet he was one of the competitive ones. It assisted in motivating him to keep up with his team members, and to practice on areas he fell behind in. Jae had to return to the university for a newspaper meeting, which he was going to use to his advantage. When he had time to speak while writing, he planned to ask Jaeseok, a fellow club member and a captain on the soccer team, about joining. The two weren’t close outside of the club, but he hoped it wouldn’t be a negative factor. It was a sport he can easily like and enjoy, so he believed it to be a wise choice. Leaving the Im Housing dormitory, he walked briskly towards the university with his tote bag, and cell phone in hand.
Once he arrived, Jae walked up the staircase and headed towards the newspaper room. He thought of what to say, how to approach the other male, and what things to be told regarding activity. As those thoughts circulated in mind, Jae reached the room at last. Inside, he greeted the other students with a warm grin, and a small nod of his head. Taking off his tote bag, he approached a free seat, dropped his bag to the floor and sat down on the chair. The supervisor of the club is not present, perhaps still in their classroom to gather their things before arriving to watch over their club. Placing his phone inside his jacket pocket„ he turned on his computer. “Jaeseok, hey.” Jae greeted in a friendly manner, whilst waiting for the computer. “I have a question about soccer.” He said casually, shrugging his left shoulder. “Are you guys looking for any new members or am I too late?” Looking back at the screen, he placed his log information in. After a few minutes, he scrolled through his saved documents to open a few that required editing. He glanced back at the other, patiently.
in one ear and out the other -- jaeseok doesn't bother looking at the underclassmen that was talking to him. he hums and nods when given, eyes boredly scrolling through the internet for something to do. sure, his article is sitting there, waiting for the last portion to be finished before revising, but he thinks 'why do that when i could not?'
it's also not every day that his supervisor isn't here to catch him doing what he's not supposed to; so he takes it all for granted, and scrounges through social media idly. it takes a few more minutes of browsing for the student to catch a hint of jaeseok's disinterest, quickly bowing and scurrying off -- to which amuses the other. a smile twitches on his lips, a snort leaving him as one eye drifts to his peripherals briefly, before sliding back to the screen.
he doesn't know how many obscure posts he's scrolled through when his attention is called again, by a different voice; he blinks once, brow furrowing, before his head turns to stare at the source of the sound, a thoughtful expression coming on his face.
"hey," he greets easily, though there is an undertone of confusion lining his words. another blink, a nod, before he slowly returns his attention back to the computer. humming, he exists out of all questionable sites, before bringing up his own article, clicking his tongue once he begins to read it. his attention is, once again, shifted by jae's voice.
"...soccer?" jaeseok perks up at the mention, full attention swerving onto the other. he assesses his expression, lips pursed in thought. "well, minhyuk had to quit because of an injury. we've got an open place, yeah -- wait, why?" his brow raises. "...do you wanna join?"
the thought gets him interested -- excited in a sense; jaeseok enjoys soccer just as much as enjoys rotting in his room. he shifts in his seat, giving more attention to the other male, an expectant look on his face.
