Iâve had worse. Ash stared at him, letting those words register in his brain and slowly, very slowly realizing what that meant. Who would dare hit Eiji, the sweetest man heâd ever met? The blonde wanted to scream.
âLet me go Eiji...I want to have a talk with him.â He said slowly, trying to quell the ice cold rage that settled in his heart whenever Eiji was threatened. As soon as the elder Okumura had slapped him, Ash had started towards him, so stunned that this had actually happened. The only consulation was that he did not have his gun with him, or a knife. No weapons to use to end the life of the man who had systematically abused his boyfriend.
Ash: I swing both ways.
Ash: Violently. With a knife.
Ash: Yut Lung sneezed and I accidentally said âshut the fuck upâ instead of âbless youâ.
Sing: âŠHow do you accidentally say âshut the fuck upâ
DRAFTS FINALLY

âYouâre much less terrible than I thought.â He agreed, sipping slower and drinking much less than Chuuya. âYou dress like a mafia don from a movie though, dead giveaway that youâre up to no good.â
âThatâs the way I like to play it. When I walk in the room, everyone should know exactly what Iâm about. Itâs like the bright red mark of a Black Widow, letting you know not to get too close. And besides thatâ I make this look good.â He smirked.
âYou d make it look good.â He admitted, shaking his head. Ash leaned his chin on his hand, an eyebrow raised. âKind of makes it hard to blend, unless the Port Mafia doesnât need to blend in?â

âCanât blame me for being a little suspicious.â Ash pointed out, though he wondered just how much truth there was to Chuuyaâs boast, and raised an eyebrow at it. âThe Corsican mafia isnât a good organization. Anyone working with them would automatically be on my list of people to avoid.â
âMafias tend not to be good organizations. I didnât join one because Girl Scouts didnât take me, you know.â He laughed, his cheeks getting a little pink as he continued to drink. âIâm a pretty terrible person. Though, not as terrible as you thought when I walked up. I have standards.â
âYouâre much less terrible than I thought.â He agreed, sipping slower and drinking much less than Chuuya. âYou dress like a mafia don from a movie though, dead giveaway that youâre up to no good.â

He raised an eyebrow. âI know about the Corsican Mafia doesâŠhow much more different is the Port Mafia?â Ash asked warily, setting his glass down again.
âConceptually, the same. I could crush that whole place before dinner, though.â Chuuya sighed, looking almost put out about his statement before a little smugness crept back into his expression. âBut I feel you edging back to asking about current business. Suffice to say, our worlds donât often overlap.â
âCanât blame me for being a little suspicious.â Ash pointed out, though he wondered just how much truth there was to Chuuyaâs boast, and raised an eyebrow at it. âThe Corsican mafia isnât a good organization. Anyone working with them would automatically be on my list of people to avoid.â
Chuuya looked pleased by that, finishing his own and not needing to ask the bartender to refill it for him. âQuite different from what we were talking about. I was⊠Persuaded to leave the gang that I had beenâ what would the English word for it be? A member of the board? One of the leadersâ that I had been very active in, for the Port Mafia at fifteen. Became an Executive there not long after. Our work culture is significantly more cut throat than a gang family. Though, I canât say I donât like it.â
He raised an eyebrow. âI know about the Corsican Mafia does...how much more different is the Port Mafia?â Ash asked warily, setting his glass down again.

âI donât let them be preyed on, but i donât sugarcoat the dangers.â Ash said firmly. âThereâs no point. Not when they came from the streets, they already know. I help them learn to survive it. Because if Idonât teach themâŠno one will.â
âIf no one teaches them, theyâll die like mangy dogs in the street.â He agreed smoothly. âAnd do they learn to earn their keep?â
âYes.â Ash took another drink, draining the wine glass this time before setting it down and pouring it more full. âWhat about you? What about this Port Mafia?â

âYeah, I was fifteen.â He nodded, setting the glass down, staring into the liquid, watching his and Chuuyaâs distorted reflection. âI donât let them fight until theyâre older, or do any of the dangerous shit. Its really just a way to protect them from people who would prey on them.â
âProtection is the idea but when do you cross the line into coddling, do you think? The world is a dark and violent place, full of terrible people. Are you protecting them by keeping them from violence?â He wondered, tilting his head to the side before taking another sip.
âI donât let them be preyed on, but i donât sugarcoat the dangers.â Ash said firmly. âThereâs no point. Not when they came from the streets, they already know. I help them learn to survive it. Because if Idonât teach them...no one will.â
Ash: What if instead of âseven minutes in heavenâ there was a âseven minutes in hellâ and what you do is you put two people in a closet together for seven minutes and they have to beat the absolute shit out of each other.
âThatâs no small feat.â He praised lightly.
He watched the wine in his glass swirl around for a moment longer before looking up. âYou were fifteen when you became a boss, then? That was right around when I got my current position. Young blood keeps the machines rolling, doesnât it?â He said with a slightly soft expression. âYou take in kids? How exactly do you have that work out?â
âYeah, I was fifteen.â He nodded, setting the glass down, staring into the liquid, watching his and Chuuyaâs distorted reflection. âI donât let them fight until theyâre older, or do any of the dangerous shit. Its really just a way to protect them from people who would prey on them.â
kinda sad today. Doing drafts
âRelax, Ash. Youâre jumping to unpleasant intentions. You implied your gang was just a place to live, I only responded.â Chuuya said calmly, taking the newly poured glass to swirl the wine in a delicate motion of his gloved hand. After a moment of inhaling, he took a thoughtful sip before nodding.
The mafioso gestured to the other glass. âTabâs on me. How long have you been with your gang, both as leader or a member? New York isnât a small town to compete in.â
âBeen with the gang for five years, only been the leader for two of them.â Ash finally sat down and took the wine glass, closing his eyes and sniffing the wine, recognizing it immediately, before taking a sip to taste it. âIâm only the leader of the Manhattan gang, thereâs a Harlem and chinatown leader. However I brought the Brooklyn gang and a few other boroughs under me as well. If a kid needs a safe place, they know to come to me, that Iâll protect them.â
