Caitlyn wanting to help protect Piltover only to discover that Piltover is corrupt and complacent in the Undercity’s current situation, and in the end, she can only watch helplessly as a bomb sails towards it powered by the technology she failed to recover.

Silco going from forsaking familial bonds because his brother nearly killed him to giving up his dream of national independence for his daughter who ends up killing him.

Ekko losing all of his friends and family in a single night except Powder (and Vi but everyone thought she was dead) who grows up under Silco’s wing, turning them from childhood friend to enemies.

Viktor wanting to help people like himself becoming so (justifiably) desperate for progressive results that he recklessly rushes his scientific project and ends up killing his loving assistant, Sky. In trying to prolong his own life, he cuts one short.

Mel deciding to turn away from her family’s “violence is always the answer” mentality only for violence to smash down her door and plunge the city into inevitable war.

Even Sky’s story is tragic seeing how her love for Viktor got her killed.

Jayce’s is weaker, but there is a tragedy in a man who loses sight of his goal to help everyone regardless of where they come from and only regains his quest for a bloodless solution the minute before a war breaks out. It just isn’t dwelled upon with as much emotion as the others’.
