Reflection on Emerging Multimedia Technology
The world is changing as we know it and everything we use or touch these days has come from emerging new technology, multimedia is no different. Innovations are always popping up left and right, so it’s important to stay on top of it all. These technologies are changing the industry and the way we live. In order to make a career in Multimedia Design we need to know what’s out there and how the product’s content works so as a designer I can create easy pathways for the new technology to be used by everyone.
What I expected to learn from my MDD410 Devry class, was to learn about new technology that I never heard of and how to use it to my benefit. It always amazes me how far social technologies have come such as Facebook and Twitter. They have transformed what was taught in classrooms, to be used worldwide in helping many people open up businesses and allow people to keep connected with relatives and friends.
What I’ve learned is how to generate QR codes, design a game inside Google Drive, and build a 3D model in Photoshop. It was really interesting to learn how to create a QR codes. It’s easy to imagine all the possibilities these tiny pixelated squares full of information have to offer in order to provide the v details necessary for the viewer. This type of technology can easily be used to provide lots of data into a tiny amount of space. I’ve personally have never successfully been able to design a game, and Goggle drive makes it really easy for just about anyone to create one. However, I don’t think this technology will take off, as people are having more fun playing apps and video game consoles with each other.
There were many useful tools I learned in this class. Out of all this different knowledge acquired, the key take away I will retain is how to create a 3D design. There are thousands of ways that 3D model printing can be applied. With the type of Multimedia I am interested in, I feel that this process will be very beneficial in the future for me.
