Moose’s eyes widened a bit, but he otherwise carried the same amused smile on his face. “I mean… that’s a pretty valid argument, yeah. When we all started high school… I don’t think we had even half an idea of what we’d be dealing with - Jason Blossom being killed by his own dad, a serial killer, a civil war with the southside… I think we dealt with a lot of stuff high schoolers never should have had to deal with in the first place. We only signed up for regular teenage drama, man,” he joked a little. As Teddy spoke, Moose couldn’t help the warm smile that grew on his lips. “Oh, I’m not sick of them,” he laughed, small teasing smirk now on his face. “You’re free to keep ‘em coming. Though, for the sake of keeping me at least a little humble, you should probably stop. But, what I can give you in thanks is at least a big ol’ hug.” And with a wide grin, he drew the other man into a tight hug, releasing him a few moments later. “You underestimate my ability to be a cheapskate. I did just give you one of my precious quarters. Sympathy milkshakes sounds a little pricey if I do end up winning.” Glancing over to the machine, Moose got himself into position. “Ready.”
“I’m so surprised that my mom didn’t pack up all of our things one night. Goodness knows she had plenty of opportunities to. Every year, it feels like another reason to leave pops up. Is it possible to shut down a town? If so, I think the town with pep would be the first one on the list.” Teddy half-joked. Sometimes living in Riverdale was out-right horror-fest. So, why did everyone stay? On paper, it certainly made no sense. “Have you ever thought about leaving, Moose?” He asked as soon as the thought crossed his mind. It was a subject he rarely spoke about with other people, but he felt it warranted at least a little discussion. “Oh, please, you’ve never been much of an ego-boaster. If you were, I wouldn’t be so quick to compliment. Even if they are 100% true. Does that count as another one? I don’t think it does. Let’s pretend it doesn’t to keep me from looking super cheesy.” Teddy was surprised when the other hugged him. He rarely found other guys who were even comfortable with the idea of accidentally brushing by each other, let alone hugs. And let alone former jocks. But, he supposed that not all stereotypes were true to form and that he was glad Moose wasn’t one of them, so he gladly accepted and reciprocated the hug, patting the other on the back as he did so. “What makes a quarter precious? I never knew you were much of a coin collector, Moose. Maybe you’re the dork in this situation.” He teased, with a gentle nudge. “You underestimate the power of my puppy dog eyes. I’ve gotten free meals with these bad boys.” Nodding affirmatively, Teddy palmed the start button and off they went! Hoards of alien ships covered the top half of the screen as the two little human ships on the bottom were tasked with blasting them. “Eat my dust!” Teddy exclaimed, mashing the attack button, making dozens of pixelated aliens evaporate.
