the canon divergence.

tate is not a psychopath (no aspd diagnosis here). he has a conscience & is in fact remorseful of the things the house made him do in life. it is the alleged haunting story of ronnie defeo jr all over again, where a boy enters a place so evil, at a low moment in his young life, from a fractured home, the place infects his mind.

he, if prior to the events of season one, does not remember the atrocities he committed in life. like other ghosts in the house, he only knows he died and “woke up” as a ghost. he does not remember anything he did under the influence of the house.

during season one: while i do not ship tate & violet due to the toxicity of canon, tate will still want to be with her. violet writers are welcomed to pursue such a ship, or turn it into a “hate-ship”. whether this may be in a present, future or past tense (as exes).

as divergent as my tate is, the things he did during his life still hold (i.e., the burning of larry & the shooting). along with some of the terrible things he does postmortem (i.e., the murder of the reenacting intruders, in defense of Violet & Mrs Harmon). other things, he either did not do or did commit under the influence of the house (e.g., the murders of chad & patrick).

postmortem. how does this manifest itself with tate? very simple. blackouts. a “loss of time” where he can be playing with thaddeus in the basement one moment, then find himself in the bathroom upstairs the next. his reflection looking back at him, clad in the “rubber” suit, not knowing how he got there or what he did. confused & scared. * do note that this does not exempt him from the responsibility of any acts he commits during these episodes.

disclaimer: first things first. this is a tate lagndon rp blog. however, do not expect the canon we all know. after writing him for years, as per canon, i've now decided to take a left turn & try my hand at exploring other possibilities with said character. finding ways to make canon paint the background & create a whole different tate.
