Playlist Summary: Everyone thinks that the tragedy began when the dead decided not to stay dead. Laura’s life has been in shambles for years by the time the rest of the world starts to catch up. Saddled with her mother’s alpha legacy at seventeen, her family burned and her sometimes girlfriend scattered to the wind for her own protection, Laura’s been on her own for a long time.

Nearly a decade of aimless wandering leaves Laura with no scars to show and few lessons learned. Without her mother’s guidance, her siblings to look after, she bounces from city to city with her cigarettes and sunglasses. She’s running on autopilot almost as much as the mindless abominations that start to haunt the land.

Despite being immune to the raging infection, Laura knows she needs more than claws and fangs to protect herself. Raiding her family’s vault in Beacon Hills for the tools she’ll need, she sets out to track down Marin. An emissary in training - at least she had been - is better than having none at all. Someone familiar to kiss might be nice, too.

Whatever she’d expected, a shotgun pointed at her head by a beautiful woman in her lingerie is not it. Marin’s not alone here, not always, and it’s going to take some convincing to make her pull up her roots and take off. It’s only common sense to suggest all three of them hit the road.

She knows that the pain is unusual, and that Kira’s never mentioned anything like it before. Kira expects her to be worried, or to ask questions, but once again, her mother surprises her.

“No, Kira,” she says, “Your soulmate is in pain.”
