@teetheater333
people in my comments “theorizing” about the ethel cain story but they’re actually just stating things that are literally in the songs
no shade
to combine both of the things I said about Janie and generalizing the characters, janie and ethel started out similar but they grew apart!! janie changes!!!! and ethel is a tomboy anyway. I don’t think these characters are always dressed up in frilly lace all the time. also why does everyone act like janie is basically maren from bones and all. is it just because both characters are black and in stories with similar themes? cuz that’s lame. janie can be her own girl. I don’t really like to throw things out there in fear of being inaccurate but I do think about janie a lot and have basically made up her entire character in my head. my janie likes metal and she’s NOT Ethel’s mentor character cuz that’s a dumb stereotype. theyre equals. janie and ethel wear similar clothes as kids but janie’s style changes when she grows up. she plays guitar
I also wanna reiterate that they were both outcasts. janie wasn’t popular or “cool” until maybe they grew apart. they were both weird kids
also the thing that bugs me the most about the information on the ethel cain story is not knowing Janie’s last name. we literally know everyone else’s except hers
fuck it make janie trans too

Where were you?
@tankhall
if you guys have unique opinions or connecting ideas about ethel cain characters say something or comment because I wanna know (especially if they’re based in an already existing idea/fact)
okay to add off to what I was saying about Janie: lots of people view all the ethel cain characters as really soft which makes sense but theyre also scrappy teenage outcasts.
I guess what I’m saying is there doesn’t have to be lace on EVERYTHING
we don’t know much about Janie and that’s annoying but also means I can make up her personality
