i want more people to write ambiguously straight stories. two people of different genders have a deep and important connection that could be either platonic or romantic, but it’s never directly addressed. other characters don’t comment on it and the whole thing is left up for interpretation. they don’t kiss.

I like the way the term MSR stuck around, and I like it for its phonetics. It sounds like what it is: a clunker from another decade, so forthright and literal that it seems like something some frank sociologist coined for us and then abbreviated for use in obscure and richly footnoted research.

#course if you've been around a few decades it sounds perfectly descriptive
