The Work on Self
Today I stood on my balcony watching contractors work on an empty field. since we moved into our apartment that field has always been the empty open space. the snow came covered it up. the rain came and washed the snow away, and the grass below was ugly and there was a lot of mud. when it was snowing it looked like an amazing white filled opened space but now the rain made it an ugly site. as the summer came the grass started to grow with beautiful wild flowers and it was beautiful space, but today that green space was no more, it was being torn up by contractors. At first I was like mein that beautiful green field with flowers is gone. But today as i watch these men work tearing up the field it dawn on me that is how life is.
We go through seasons some beautiful and white, some seasons are full or rain and mud and its ugly. the snow seasons are great and we live a life that is nice, but when the rain comes it often seems like there is no silver lining. Its in that moment it takes everything in us to stay afloat but sometimes it just feel like we drowning slipping through life never getting a break to breathe or to enjoy the simple things in our life. sometimes that season can take its toll on our minds and bodies but its not the end.
the truth is we need to be the contractors of our lives. it wont be easy because we got to break habits, routines. we will have to dig up the hard soil of past pains and trauma, break walls we have already built. we may even have to learn new ways but if we work hard enough and long enough we can build something beautiful and worth it out of our life. something that will stand and be beautiful during the snow seasons and when the rain seasons come because of the foundation you did in the summer those rainy days wont make you ugly. you will be able to be beautiful during the rain and in the summer you will shine again.
So wherever you are and whatever season you are in don’t give up don't give in work. one day at a time digging, breaking, building, and before you know it you will be strong and beautiful and able to shine in any season.
