reminder since I'm BACK
sometimes I use 'bad words' in my writing - I'm not talking about curse words (and yes those are used to), I'm talking about slurs, I'm talking about ignorant and hateful and hurtful opinions, I'm talking about things that Aren't Nice. Things that are Not Okay in Everyday Life.
remember that this is fiction, these characters are not real, their 'opinions' are fake, they are fictional, they are fantasy
I write for realism even in fiction, I do not write for comfort, I do not write for safety, my blog is not a safe space, it is not fluffy things and magical sparkles, it is not always gentle words and happy endings
"but ed," you say, "if you know these things are Bad, why do you include them in your writing?"
because it is not my job to control what you see and read, that is your responsibility to yourself, it is your responsibility to control what media you consume, if I read something that I know will trigger me, it's my own fault, not the writer's fault
I write for realism, and realism can be ugly, realism can be nasty, even in Hooky-Booky Wild Supernatural Verses, and I do not feel inclined to censor that
"but ed," you say again, "I want to follow you but some of your writing contains triggers for me, are you saying my triggers don't matter?"
your triggers do matter, your triggers are valid, you as a person are valid
install Tumblr Savior and block my 'tw:' tags, this will block posts that contain triggering and unsaviory content I have tagged, I believe there is also a feature on tumblr itself for this that should work for mobile users
remember that I myself am human, I am not perfect, and I may forget things at times and that includes appropriate tags, an additional reason why my spaces are not safe spaces
additonally my blogs are 18+, I am an adult who posts adult writing and content, if you are underaged my writing is not for you
