So this is currently happening in the UK. There is a #ToriesOut protest taking place outside 10 Downing Street, as well as Piccadilly and Westminster. People are disgusted by the new Cameron government. There is heavy police enforcement. People are currently being detained by police.

No, it’s really not. Only 37% of the country voted for Tories, clearly not a majority. The UK democracy rules are clearly broken as hell, if a party can take power with only 37% of the country’s support.
When only half the country were arsed to turn up, they'd need to be getting near 100% of the ballots cast to get a majority in your eyes. Even if you don't like the candidates, you can still make a point of voting none. The politicians can be blamed for many things, but the laziness of the electorate is not one of them
