Xianghua - Soul Calibur VI by evs-eme

When the trailer was shown months ago, when Xianghua appeared in that video, I was happy again, this drawing had been planned for some time since she appeared for this SCVI, but I was on vacation in South of my country last month and only I dedicated myself to travel rested in every place I knew. However on that trip to all the places I met there were large gardens and many of them with hydrangea flowers and it was my inspiration for the setting of this drawing, I did not want to draw lotus flowers because there were already many Xianghua fanart with flowers of lotos of other artists that I follow and out of respect for their works, I omitted this occasion. In addition, Xianghua is already a lotus, in all her wardrobe she is already wearing the design. What I like about Xianghua is overflowing with happiness like the flowers and elegance of it, besides I like the flower gardens, even though I do not know how to properly divide a flower. it’s too easy to return her smile with one of his own, the look in his eyes matching perfectly. his silence paired with his joyful countenance say it all, and he fathoms his dear friend already knows his answer to her reminiscence. there is relief to be had in witnessing xianghua’s unique glimmer anew; it’s infectious and most welcome. maxi can only scoff, countering effortlessly as his response rolls off his tongue. ❛ well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, ❜ he breathes within a chuckle, lifting his palm skyward as if to display his argument. ( and he rolls his eyes! )  ❛ you say that as if you’ve changed yourself. you’re still the same. ❜

   A GIGGLE WOULD ESCAPE her at that, breathed across the lengths of splayed fingers very much like that of a delicate little silk fan. The NUMEROUS YEARS that have passed almost feeling more so like a few mere DAYS, as those few words of familiarity were exchanged between them then. As if no such DISTANCE could ever truly drift these two souls apart, regardless of whatever TIME itself would attempt upon them.

   She would roll her own eyes at that, shoulders tipping briefly-- before resigning to the fact that he had a point, sorta.  

   “... Hm?” A few rapid blinks would follow, before hands would rest themselves upon her very hips. Quick was the temptation to question, before a near childish pout would instead display itself upon her features.“Hmph, I’m going to take that as a compliment... At least I bothered changing up my hair every once in awhile.” A hand would raise itself to sweep that single lock of hair back behind her shoulder at that.

          “My my, it seems like I will never be able to get rid of you, huh? We always meet, no matter where.”    But of course, he was glad he saw her, as he hadn’t seen her in quite some time now. His own travels often led him further away from his friends, although he tried to be with them as long as possible. 

   “Mm... you’re definitely gonna have to try a little harder than that if you wanna get rid of me that badly!”  She would teasingly hum out at that, her hands upon her own hips in that familiarly indignant yet childish manner. Her initial pout would eventually give way to a KNOWING GRIN, for some things just wouldn’t change. Brows quirking ever so slightly at the NOSTALGIA, before a loud huff of a sigh escaped itself through parted lip,“... whew, you haven’t changed one bit, have you?”

   “... It kinda feels like old times, doesn’t it?” With the crinkling of her eyes and the small smile that slowly began to make its way upon once astonished features-- Xianghua couldn’t resist then, as lips then bloomed into a familiarly full cheeky grin, “It doesn’t help things either that your hair and outfit hasn’t really changed, since then!”

This would have been any normal day if she didn’t hear an oddly familiar voice yelling across the market. Maxi, Natsu and Xiba were all doing their own thing, just as she was looking at some affordable new paper that she could use to practice her writing.

It’s what she had in mind originally, but that went out the window immediately. Leixia turned towards the yell, not even having to look to know exactly who it was.  “Mother!?” What the heck was she even doing here?! How did she find her? Why was she so loud around all these people?

Crap. Running didn’t seem wise, but standing here wasn’t great either. Placing the paper back onto the merchant’s stand, Leixia ignored some of the stares as she made her way towards. She didn’t get within standing distance however, simply enough for her voice to carry over. “Mother, what are you doing here???”  Man, how tempting it was to leave and pretend she never heard her; guess she should face the music now.

   RELIEVED TO SEE THAT SHE ACTUALLY APPEARED JUST FINE-- but fool on her if she were to dare admit such a thing aloud, just yet. No, she would focus right then on making it across this crowd-- ignoring the NOSY STARES that would be received whilst she did. Not that she was actually shoving her way past them-- a less than pleased expression was still upon her own features, even as APOLOGETIC SQUEAKS left her while she tapped shoulders and slid around other obstacles. Despite the fact that her daughter had DISOBEYED her when it came to that simple order, Xianghua was already having second thoughts, and was actually grateful to have her do the same as she did.

   THIS-- THIS WAS NOT AT ALL HOW SHE HAD EXPECTED HER TO RESPOND TO HER! Not that she had wanted her own daughter to FEAR her, but a little more RESPECT would have been appreciated. Not that she would have expected much, after what she had chosen to do.

   “I-- I can’t believe you! After all those nights I have spent worrying about you! This is all you have to say for yourself?!” With a POUT to match her own child’s, one might have considered the two of them SISTERS than actually mother and daughter, right then. Nngh, she was... almost there!

          “You lookin’ for something, love?”   The dust on his clothing served as a form of evidence that he too had been looking for something himself, yet these ruins proved to be empty of all that he had been searching for. Still, if he could only find one mark, one little detail, it would be enough to lead him further – those who had plundered this place must have left something behind; it’s how they did their business back in the day.    “Seems like you’re wastin’ your time around ‘ere.”

   WITH A FLICK OF BROWN BANGS and a tip of her head, wide eyes would then simmer as she offered the unexpected company a friendly smile. Need she be wary? NATIVITY was the farthest thing to be considered, with everything and everyone whom she had encountered during this long journey across the world itself-- even if her first thought about the stranger was that he actually seemed friendly enough to her. 

   Xianghua had then sighed in dismal agreement. Giving the area another glance over before fully turning her attention back to him.

   “... Can’t blame a girl for trying, though.” Despite all the hours that have been wasted here, “I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss out on anything, before moving on.”

   FEATURES SET INTO A FAMILIARLY CHILDISH FUME, her daughter would surely stand out in any crowd that she was in. But no, now was not the time to actually gush about her own BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER-- when said beautiful child had nearly given her a heart attack for running away the way she did! 

   It had taken much persuasion, for her husband to allow her to go on after her. Only unless she would allow a few soldiers to accompany her (Certainly more discreet than the entire Ming Army). Now, they weren’t necessarily too far behind, but, if she had continued on with their pace, Xianghua knew that her child would have once again moved onto the next place before she was able to catch her.

   “Yan Leixia! Don’t you move from that spot!”

   HIS RESPONSIBILITY AND HIS ALONE.

   EXASPERATING in the way he would shoulder that burden. Neither she, nor MAXI had truly been able to break through it as much that they have hoped. Though then again, the pirate himself always did have his own DEMONS that he needed to face...Oh, how hard she had tried to understand. Each chipper word, gentle hand placed upon their shoulders (His, especially) all but the smallest reminder that she would always be there for them-- him.

   A giddy girl, with BRIGHT EYES for the future itself, now but somewhat diminished over the years... ever since that FATEFUL DAY. The day when she realized that they wouldn’t all be able to return home... together.

   “Y-You... It’s you...” He hadn’t aged a single bit, she had noticed. Not even as he tried to conceal it away with that golden helmet that he now adorned. So it would seem that this was the new EDGE MASTER whose LEGEND had begun to spread across the world itself... Kilik... “I... I thought I’d never see you again...”
