quick public service announcement for the road trip au

PLEASE don’t view the characters as anything but extremely nuanced, or overly focus on one characteristic of their personality only! this is especially as i’m in that camp of people who really want to diffuse the Abusive Carol Headcanon, and the road trip au is gonna reflect my opinion that she is not abusive. she’s going to be depicted as more distant than anything, which is for its own reasons PLOTWISE, its not solely for a reason of just wanting to do it a certain way. i’m the kind of person to look for reasons for every character to do anything that they do, so please as a reader also be looking for possible reasons that i’m having the characters act the way they do!

with that out of the way, susie is going to be angry, carol is going to be stressed out, noelle’s going to be everything under the sun, togore is going to be logical, everyone is going to have SOMETHING that makes you maybe not like them entirely. the road trip au is going to be extremely grounded in reality and emotions that would be reasonable for what they’re experiencing. nothing supernatural in this au, so sorry, ralsei isn’t gonna be in it!

chapter 3 status update:

i’ve just started lining it out, though this does not mean i will be racing to finish it within the week. y’all know full well by now that i have scholarship shit to do 😭 and what will be ESPECIALLY annoying for balancing art priorities is the fact that some of them are art related. my guess is that it might be sometime in march it’ll be done? you’ll see it eventually is what i’m saying chat, this is not being shoved into the gutter

I thought about this a while ago and only remembered now after seeing your blog hi

lowkey i think she’d be the type to be the most nonchalant driver ever, but like when she’s ticked off by something (non driving related) she’d turn to road rage

she’d absolutely be the kind of person to pull over and rage a bit on the side of the road if she’s truly fuming tho

or like, she’d listen to really loud and abrasive music to diffuse her road rage OR noelle’s playlist to get into a better mood

i actually do have a brief panel in one of my mental roadtrip au images where she’s kind of glaring at the road while driving btw

I HC that Carol doesn't even like Christmas that much, thats Rudy's thing but she compromised. After Dess's disappearance and Rudy's hospitalization she can't stomach changing the Christmas decor anymore and preserves it like everything else because this woman is not emotionally ok and needs to go to therapy to learn to be an emotionally available parent to Noelle or else lose the last family member she has left.
