Back from the dead...

I started Metanoia in 2015 as my NaNo project and was promptly derailed by… everything. I had some serious doubts that I’d come back to DA and/or writing, but I couldn’t have anticipated 2020. Nothing like an endless shelter in place to get the old creative juices flowing? 

Anyway, Metanoia is done. 

I left off at Chapter 4 back in 2015. I’ve posted Chapters 5 and 6 today and I’ll keep posting at least one or two a day until it’s all been posted. I’m leaving myself a little breathing room for some editing instead of posting the whole shebang at once considering it comes to a little over 60k words, making it the longest Volutions story yet.

I have finished posting the whole story. It comes to just over 61k words with 21 chapters and an epilogue.

I have Mentimutation outlined and a very, very loose outline for Perendination, which would be the series-ending story, but I’m just going to keep my head down and work at a much slower pace than I used to write. I won’t get anyone’s hopes up with WIPs again, so expect that if I resurface going, “Hey, so I wrote a thing,” that the thing is complete.

I know this is a bit out of the blue but, I'm very fond of your Amell and Zevran's relationship, and Haspenald is one of my favorite parts of Volutions, so I was wondering if you'd ever considered writing a drabble of Zev and Dal's evening, parallel to Anders and Fenris's?

I hadn't really given it much thought, but I may have to now that you mention it. I'm glad you like Zev and Dal. They make me very happy to write and I hope to get back to them with Metanoia soon.

Yep, another update

I had surgery last week and it seems to have been incredibly successful. The pain that led me to take that step is almost entirely gone and recovery is going well. Just thought I'd check in. I hope to resurface soon.

Update

I know I fell off the map and I apologize. I have an appointment to meet a neurosurgeon next week to discuss back surgery. I have spent the entirety of 2016 heavily medicated which totally gets in the way of trying to write anything. I’ll probably return after I recover, until then everybody continue to be wonderful.

What's your favorite romance pairing in DAI?

I can't say I've found a favorite. I've played the Dorian and Sera romances all the way through and I'm working on the Solasmance now. Of those three, I like the Solas one the most, but that's largely because I have a thing for tragedy.I've listened to the Dorian/Bull banter, though, and it pleases me immensely.

A little prompt. Fenders, allotriophagy or doing something they've both never done before.

Allotriophagy

n. A depraved appetite; a desire for improper food; having food cravings that are different from the expected or the norm

Given the subject matter, I’m going to put this short behind a cut. Not everyone’s going to want to read about Anders’ “depraved appetite” for things you can fight and kill in the DA universe (not humanoids!) 

...

Fenris thought he might never get used to the way Anders would look at almost anything that wasn’t humanoid, tainted, or a cat as a potential meal. 

Giant rat? Anders would skin it and have it skewered over a fire before anyone else had managed to clean the blood off their blades.

Dragon? Fenris had heard him remark that he appreciated a meal that cooked itself.

He thought Anders might draw the line at fennec, but the first time one of the little foxes blithely trotted into the burst of a fireball thrown at a cluster of bandits, Anders offered the charred remains his apologies and then set about finding the edible parts.

Fenris put up with it, in part because he had put up with worse from Anders, in part because he loved the fool man, and in part because the other wardens told him that appetite was one of the side effects of the Joining. Considering the stamina that was also a side effect, Fenris tried to convince himself it was a tolerable balance.

But the day that he saw Anders squat by the remains of a giant spider with a speculative look in his eye, he didn’t think twice about slinging the mage over his shoulder to carry him back to the camp and their trail rations.
