hiatus notice

hi all!

the first semester of my senior year has officially started, and unfortunately, that means my time for tumblr has been cut significantly. and since i have so much to do and ( other blogs ) to attend to, i’ve decided to put this blog on hiatus.

i won’t actively be here, but i will try to load the queue when i’m not too stressed to write, or i need a breather from jim, spock, and leonard. please stop by jim’s blog to say hi, since i’m logged into that account all the time.

No, Steve, we can’t walk all day. You know we can’t. But we can go for an hour or so, maybe longer if you promise to stay sat instead of chasing after puppies.

It’s mean, he feels, but Steve can only get worse if he spends the next several hours chasing dogs nonstop. So he stays firm. But he’s still a big sucker for his kid.

I’ll pack some snacks for a little picnic if you promise to do that.

I -- but dad!

The whine has very little energy to it, but Steve managed to do it anyway. Sometimes he feels like he doesn’t do much of anything since he gets so sick all the time. And the puppies at the park are, at times, the highlight of his week. Steve frowned but nodded his head, leaning back and curling into his dad’s chest. Dad was always warm, and Steve quickly burrowed into him for warmth, hoping his cold would just go away.

 I just wanna see the doggies... where’d CanCan go?

Spock gripped Leo’s hand a little tighter in return. He could sense the Omega’s confusion as well as the strange mix of fear and awe as they took off, making their way up to the station. With his free hand he begins reading off a PADD, taking mental notes on the documents before him. Even if he doesn’t have to return to official business for a while, it’s good to read up on the latest dilithium trade agreements and politcal happenings.

Glancing sideways, Spock softly smiles to himself seeing Leo so enthralled with the view of the Earth as they left her surface farther behind. Still there’s apprehension but undoubtedly, fascination.

His heart sinks a little knowing that Leo has never seen her like this before. Spock glances out the window as well and nods. “Indeed. Your planet is quite beautiful. Ours is not nearly as green but I hope you will come to like New Vulcan.”

He doesn’t mind having Leo looking out the window. Though it’s another 5 minutes before the docking procedure begins. Spock gives the Omega’s forehead a quick kiss. “Please sit back while we dock,” he murmurs softly.

“Seein’ anythin’ is good by me... New Vulcan’ll look just as nice. Just different” Leonard replied softly, lips quirked in a smile for just barely a moment. He liked watching Earth get smaller and smaller from the window, feeling free for the first time in his entire life. And that sensation lingered, despite the fact that he was currently owned, and would continue to be owned by -- but the feeling of freedom was astounding. And honestly, a little frightening, if he was being honest with himself. 

With a shy nod, Leonard sat back, hiding behind Spock’s shoulder as the ship approached what he assumed was a space station. There were orders being spoken over the comm, and Leonard looked up as he listened. All he got was that they’d probably be getting off, and would be getting onto another starship. One that would be better equipped for deep space. 

He had to wonder how long Spock would be so calm and cool around him. Leonard knew alpha’s better than anyone, and after being bounced around so many... almost none were gentle on their first night. He expected the worst once they were on Spock’s ship and alone, and to be honest, it was to be expected. No matter how kind the Vulcan was, he was an alpha with needs, and it was Leonard’s job to serve him.

it wasn’t all that unusual, going on an away mission with the captain, but there was something about it that caused b'elanna to raise her guard ( not that finding her in a relaxed state was an easy feat ). it was fairly run of the mill, they were taking a shuttle to survey a nearby planetoid while voyager was docked at a space station to initiate in trade for supplies. according to scans, the planetoid was rich with dilithium deposits — and frankly, they’d learned a long time ago to stock up when they had the chance. b'elanna wasn’t entirely sure what had prompted the captain to come along, as the engineer could’ve easily picked a junior officer to accompany her, but it didn’t seem necessary to question her superior’s reasoning. sometimes it was just nice getting off the ship; it was all too easy to feel trapped within the limited confines of voyager. even if it was just going on a survey mission, b’elanna understood the appeal of getting away for a while. they’d maintained simplistic small talk for a while, before falling into a comfortable silence. b'elanna was lost in an in-depth analysis of the shuttle’s engine read outs when the alarm began to chirp. deft fingers swiftly keyed in a command to bring up the alert on the console before her. mouth pulled into a tight line as she turned in her chair to fully face the console and confirm the readings, before she turned to the captain. “I’ve got an ion storm less than a thousand kilometers to starboard. it came out of nowhere, captain,” 

at least, she HOPED it had. explaining that she’d been so absorbed in something else that she’d neglected to notice something as massive as the storm that was quickly closing on them wasn’t the engineer’s idea of a good time. without another word, b’elanna made an attempt to pick up enough speed that they might be able to outrun the storm. hell, she’d been pouring over analyses of the engines —- she was WELL AWARE that they were operating optimally, of course, b’elanna would stand for nothing less ( especially in the presence of captain janeway ) but the fact remained that a shuttle wasn’t nearly as powerful as a starship. the engines were included in that, and it was frustrating as hell. heart raced as she made an attempt to divert power from secondary systems in order to boost engine output, but it seemed little difference was being made, much to b’elanna’s dismay. 

it seemed the next events occurred in the blink of an eye. the storm hit, and it felt as if she were fighting the forces of the universe itself to keep control of the shuttle. a part of her mused that fighting the universe shouldn’t’ve been such an unusual thing —- she often joked that it was an ongoing struggle, one that she never knew if she was winning. what was one more battle? FURIOUSLY she worked in an attempt to break them free, to think of a way to pick up speed and escape before they were too far engulfed in the storm to have any hope of getting away. but it didn’t seem the universe wanted to play fair today. structural integrity was failing, shields were failing, and with every passing microsecond everything seemed more GRIM than it already had. it was with gritted teeth that she announced that there was little hope of regaining control and escaping ( unless a miracle were to occur, and that didn’t seem likely ). a distress signal was prepped, and began transmitting — they could only hope it would reach voyager. it wasn’t long after that consciousness slipped away.

the smell of smoke was the next thing she knew. it was a little surprising that she was alive at all, when it came down to it. but —– god she hadn’t been alone in the shuttle. “captain?” her throat was DRY, but that seemed to be the best news as a deep ache overtook her body even more quickly than consciousness seemed to ( talk about what had to have been a rough landing ). blinking, she wasn’t sure she dared observe the damage. that which was in her immediate line of sight seemed bad enough, but —- on the bright side, she was alive. she could only hope the captain was, as well. so, grudgingly she shifted her gaze, not daring to move much more than her eyes as she searched for the other.  “captain? captain, are you alright?”

it wasn’t often that kathy got to be just an officer -- as captain, the opportunities to go on away missions and other exploratory expeditions were few and far between. she was still an explorer at heart, and going on simple missions like this were the few times she got to do so. so kathryn had jumped into the shuttle with b’elanna, excited for whatever journey she got to go on.

plus, it was an opportunity to catch up wither her chief engineer, in a safe space where it could be just them. she appreciated the time, savoring the moments where the heavy weight of captain wasn’t on her shoulders. at least, not to a degree that kathryn was used to. in fact, she was enjoying the relatively simple task of piloting the shuttle when the ion storm hit.

“well then -- raise shields, we’re going to have to go through it.”

time passed by in a flash, and kathryn was doing her best to keep the shuttle level and keep a smooth landing. however, they lost control no matter what she tried; kathryn almost swore under her breath, dreading what could become of them in their attempt at a landing. however, there wasn’t much time to process that thought, because she was knocked unconscious before the shuttle hit the ground.

then b’elanna’s voice broke through the haze, throat raw from inhaling smoke with her breaths. kathryn coughed before she spoke, hands reaching above her to pull her into an upright positon.

“i’m here -- i think i’m okay” she replied, looking around for her engineer. kathryn was completely unaware of the bleeding head wound, or the dislocated shoulder on her right side. the captian was too worried about the ship and, even more so, her chief. “are you alright?”

“I – I wanna marry you, Lara. More than anythin’. You know that.”

They don’t have much time, Steve knows that. He’s supposed to be taking care of his duties elsewhere on the grounds, but the blond missed her too much. There was no way they would be married, not on the palace grounds. But if they ran, there might be a chance for them to be together. It’s why Steve had planned a possible escape.

Strong hands held Lara’s face softly, lips meeting hers in the briefest of kisses. A woman of royalty and a man of rags – a stereotypical romance, sure – but it was real. Steve’s gaze lingered on hers before he took a moment to peek around the corner; they had some time left. Just enough for him to slip a simple ring into her hand, and closing her fingers around it.

          “This is my promise… tomorrow, meet me at the South Gate.             Midnight. I made arrangements, and Buck is gonna help us             get out. Be there, and we’re gonna get married. No one forces             my best gal into anything she don’t want.”

Rhee sat in the foyer waiting for someone to pick her up from the hospital. She had already been discharged, but she had no idea where to go from here. Uhura had told her they were having a party for the captain today and that she was invited, so someone would pick her up and she could go straight there. 

Leonard McCoy was the last person on earth Rhee expected to pick her up, but she couldn’t think of anyone she wanted to see more at the moment. She stood up and ran over to him, or at least, as fast as her body could go at the moment. Rhee threw her arms around the doctor and pressed herself tightly to him. 

“It’s so good to see you!” she whispered.

The only reason Leonard hadn’t been at Rhee’s bedside, was because of his debriefing by Starfleet. After everything was said and done, Leonard had ended up patching up half of the crew, and after the higher ups had been done asking him questions, he was exhausted. The doctor taking care of Rhee had kept him in the loop on her condition. The fact she’d been felt behind made Leonard sick, and a part of him blamed himself. getting people off of the planet had been his job too -- and she’d been left behind. 

So when Leo could, he wrapped his arms around her tight. “Hey kiddo” he smiled, voice warm as he tried not to let his voice break. Leonard missed her more than he’d even thought. “I was worried about you... had to make sure they were takin’ care of ya.”

“They’re afraid..” She said, a bit of surprise coloring her voice “and you run from things they tell you too because they’ve been right in the past but now you think this may help and…you want that. Something they don’t.” She guessed, mused.

“Wade…this is your choice..it’s always your choice. Not theirs, no one else’s. I can help, but that doesn’t mean they have to go away if you don’t want them to go. They can stay if you want them to and you can all learn to live together…but you have to decide.” She folded her hands before her, letting him have the freedom to make his choices.

Wade just tugged at his mask, letting out a frustrated and pained yell. It drowned out the screaming, and for a moment, he felt just a little better. It lasted mere seconds, and the assassin found himself shaking in Aria’s grasp. Weakness was a new feeling for him; he didn’t enjoy feeling vulnerable, but there was little more he could do than ride this out. 

He usually just did it alone.

“What am I supposed to do. They don’t just fucking go away on their own.”

Wade wasn’t one to ask for help, but that was as close as he got.

Was it weird to meet a stripper -- was that even her job title? for coffee? Maybe. But Poe had insisted on giving her his name and his number. He was going to be in the city for a few more days, and Poe saw something in her eyes that he liked; Katrina was gorgeous, but there was depth that he wanted to understand. So he’d offered to get coffee with her; Poe picked a place and gave her the address. He was relieved when he saw her walk through the door. And yes, he hugged her once she was close enough.

“Hey you -- glad you decided to come! I was worried you’d change your mind.”

She smiled and nodded, thumbs gently rubbing along his cheekbones through the mask. The poor man, his voices must be very dominant for it to get like this…how long has he been letting them control his life?

“It’s okay, breathe, focus on me, on the music. Imagine little bubbles around them that dulls the sound. They’re still there but quieter..” She told him. She was starting to think medication may be the only thing to make them quiet but she wasn’t sure if his body could do it and not burn through it.

“What do they want you to do?”

Wade hadn’t expected Aria to touch him, and he flinched and tried to back away from her hands. It was a rather uncoordinated move and, in the end, he wasn’t more than a step away. He panted for breath, trying to visualize what Aria had suggested (what did he have to lose?) and it only barely helped. Wade’s exhale was tinted in a whine, loud and long and pained. 

“They don’t wanna be kicked out” he murmured in reply, tone short. “You’re someone who poses a threat... and usually, I run when that happens. I’m --”

       Wilson, get your fucking ass out of here.

                       But what if Wade gets better--

“ -- why am I even still here. I need to go.” Wade looked around, staring at the door but not moving. “I need to go.”
