🩹 - “Ah, gashapon machines, of course! Things haven’t changed from since I was a high schooler who had just moved to japan-! The variety in them is just amazing, and so adorable! They have them for animals, food, signs and household objects…so much care and attention is put into them…even after all these years, nothing beats the thrill of pulling that lever! Besides, the children do seem to appreciate when I give them all the figures I give in duplicates….the ones that are the right age to be given them, at least!”

 Some plot ideas !

- Mei Fan takes her “patient advocacy” to its extreme by heading off into a dangerous situation to protect one of her patients ( She knows kung fu and still has her polearm -don’t test her !! )

- Mei Fan giving someone kung fu lessons 

- Going on a hiking trip with another muse !

- For the love of god someone go to the Gacha machines with her

- College / Nursing School timeline where she’s learning to cope with throwing away the life she once knew behind

- Arrival in a new country, probably as a public health promoter 

- Mei Fan moves from the hospital to accept a temporary position as a health advisor in a high school 

- Throw any traumatized / sick/ injured muses at her….she’s not that smart sometimes with her people skills but she!! cares!!! unconditionally!!

Listen tho...imagine Dio or some other vampire starting a “plague” by turning people against their will that keep ending up in hospitals. Mei Fan having to lose patients to these things as vicitims or vampires. Like the badass she is she’d totally take up her blade and kung fu again to fight these things and beg any harmone user she sees relentlessly until they teach her...

Or imagine her having to deal with kids that got shot by the bow and arrow and have no idea how to control their stand powers yet?? Like she’s the trusted pediatric consultant for stand users

The itako winced taking three or four steps back as her hands come up to her face. Wincing in pain from the sudden thump against her head.. A door again? "Ah-No it is alright..I will alright." Reassuring the other as she opened her eyes with a smile. "Just a little.. Confused if you will." Who wouldn't be they didn't know something was going to bonk them on the head?

🩹 - “Oh my-! Are you injured?!” For such a small incident, Mei Fan’s reaction was certainly not dulled. Head injuries needed to be taken seriously, after all! What if this girl had suffered a concussion? Or a brain bleed?! ( Alright, well - that was probably being a bit overactive…)

“Ah, please! I’m a nurse - do you mind if I take a look at  your head?”

maki didn’t know who brought her to the hospital, but she did know she needed to leave. a slip-up during a mission left her in a… weakened state, & even though she wasn’t that confident in her ability to walk out of the place but she didn’t really have an option to stay. she managed to keep quiet on every question the medical staff asked her about how she got her injuries, & what she was doing thanks to her training preparing her these sort of situations. frankly, she was lucky that it didn’t take much more to get discharged.

clearly, this nurse thought quite differently from her colleagues & that was trouble for the assassin. it didn’t help that maki was using the welcome desk to keep herself upright not even a minute ago or that she was still bandaged up, however, she simply focused on keeping herself standing & appearing fine.

“you don’t need to worry, i’ll be fine.”

she kept her words brief, hoping to keep this conversation short.

“i just… don’t have the money to stay here any longer. i’m sorry.”

🩹 - The quality of Maki’s injuries had already sent alarm bells ringing in her head when she first arrived - despite Mei Fan’s tendency of letting details slip by her. But even she wasn’t ignorant to how strangely lacking the girl was in explanations for how she got them. There were so many questions...ones that she was determined to get answers for. At the very least, she couldn’t let her go by herself in this condition!

“Pardon my rudeness - but that’s a clear lie.” she stood firm, keeping eye contact in a form of confrontation for a few moments before dropping to a neutral level again. She didn’t like to come off as aggressive, but this was a moment that called for assertiveness! “You can’t be expected to pay for your own medical bills either - if money is an issue, let me talk to your parents! I’m certain we could work something out...”

What did the gambler want to do when he wasn't busy with cards, school and the clan? Go to Nakano Broadway obviously! Specifically that store with all the gacha machines, hoping to find some new Yugioh ones or any that belonged to an anime he liked or was interested in. Browsing at the cool stuff before turning his attention elsewhere, tipping his fedora upwards to get a better look. "Ya ok? Dial stuck or something?..Or unlucky roll?" Ryou felt sorry for her is that was what happened.

🩹 - She was never frustrated at the machines for giving her common or ‘unlucky’ prizes. The thrill of pushing the lever and waiting for the result of her hard earned yen had been addictive to her ever since she had first moved to Japan. Now more then ever, there was never anything lost - especially when the children at the hospital appreciated the extra capsule toys she ended up with; providing they were old enough to be trusted with them, of course!

However…none of her optimism could find a brighter side to this situation, the nurse staring at the handle she’d tried to turn multiple times with disdain.

“It appears…my capsule…is stuck.” she muttered, the thrill and joy of the gacha pull seeming to have evaporated in those few moments.

          IT   WAS   A   MOMENT      of   kindness   that   she   didn’t   expect .      wasn’t   as   if   she’d   ever   thought   ill   of   the   stranger ,      but   it   was   still   something   so   pleasant ,      wasn’t   it ?      a   reminder   of   all   the   GOOD   in   the   world .      the   way   the   other   seemed   so   carefree   in   her   dismissal   of   the   lost   toys .      as   if   she   genuinely   didn’t   mind .

          so   when   the   toy   was   once   again   offered   to   her ,      she   would   easily   accept   it .      cradled   the   cat   carefully   as   she   listened   to   the   other’s   explanation .      it   was   a   sweet   story ,      really .      the   tale   of   a   cat   supposedly   stuck   in   a   tree   who   managed   to   get   out .      maybe   she’d   look   up   the   anime   later .      after   all ,      she   really   did   always   enjoy   watching   the   kinds   of   cute   anime   characters   like   this   might   come   from       ━      even   if   some   people   considered   it   a   little   too   childish .

          really ,      she   just   considered   it   a   nice   way   to   make   herself   feel   better   when   she   was   upset   about   something .      “      really ?      that   sounds   so   cute !      what   anime   is   it ?      i   mean       ━        if   you   don’t   mind   me   asking .      it   just   totally   sounds   like   the   kinda   stuff   i   like .      ”      besides ,      it   would   probably   be   good   for   her   to   do   something   other   than   read   romance   manga   for   the   first   time   in   a   while .

          then ,      the   realization   that   she   definitely   hadn’t   introduced   herself ,      &&   if   this   girl   was   willing   to   let   yuzu   adopt   one   of   her   capsule   toys ,      she   should   at   least   know   her   name ,      right ?      “      oh ,      um ,      i’m   yuzu   aihara ,      by   the   way !      it’s   really   nice   to   meet   you ,      even   if   it   wasn’t   under   the   greatest   circumstances .      &&       ━      i   PROMISE   i’ll   take   good   care   of   jataro   for   you !      ”

🩹 - Anger was a near foreign concept to Mei Fan - even to an unhealthy extent with the way she’d let Akira go on treating other stage girls so coldly in the past without comment, defending her even. It had just never come naturally for her to hold a grudge against anyone else; for better or worse. She could easily recognize it as a flaw when she realized how much she struggled with expressing anger with the Fire Goddess - but she had no intention of holding onto negative feelings and give herself furrowed brows. She’d come to accept it was just...part of who she was. 

“The Adventures of Dentaro! He’s the little bunny I have at my waist..” she joyfully flicked the key chain in the air, proud to show off one of her most adored possessions; save for perhaps her Viper blade. 

“I learned a lot of my Japanese just from watching it, so it’s become very dear to me.” she proclaimed this with her hand heartily put over her chest. 

“Mei Fan Liu , first year of Siegfeld Institute of Music, at your service!” she replied in turn, deciding to leave out the detail of being an Edel- it wouldn’t mean much to her anyways. “Same to you as well! I’m glad we could make the best out of a small misfortune. I can already tell you have a kind heart, so I’m not in the least bit worried about Jataro in your hands!”
