yo, i'm tenor-offical. proud to be a choir kid and semi-proud of belonging to what may be the worst section of choir.
i use they/he pronouns and i'm agender.
you should totally send me choir song recommendations... preferably in satb. at some point i might drop a list of all the choir songs i've sung
profile picture is a half rest (i like it because it looks like a hat). header is a sheet music staff with the bass clef.
below the cut: what is a tenor?
what is a tenor? out of the four main voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), tenors and basses make up the lower voices. tenor is the higher of the two. our lowest note is typically around B2 (although my choir almost never has tenors sing below D3), while our highest is around G4. why do i say tenors may be the worst section? from my experience, tenor is just notoriously the worst of the four sections. there's a lot of tone deaf people, and a good amount of people who are actually basses and keep singing everything down an octave. there's also way too many people who never know what they're meant to be singing. i imagine this is not the case in a professional choir.
Non binary joy is making it into advanced choir at school and being told you’ll probably be singing both tenor 1 AND alto 2 next year
my teacher is also accepting and my current class doesn’t know if I’m a girl or a boy and it feels amazing because I never thought I’d get to this point but it’s happening!!!
my choir director’s letting me organize all the sheet music and i feel like it’s awakened a part of my brain that likes putting things in piles and alphabetizing and it’s great
i was listening to hamilton and somehow i misheard it and thought he told washington “your physician is so unique” even though ive heard this song a bajillion times and know the lyrics by heart
in the spirit of pride month, i'm going to say happy pride month to all trans people out there who wish their voice sounded different. some days i wish my voice was deeper and get dysphoric over my vocal range so we're all in this together
i think the range of human voices is so beautiful. i know trans men who can sing gorgeous soprano opera and cis women who can sing bass range. i've listened to the voices of trans men drop as they transition and i've listened to trans women sing with confidence. i know nonbinary people of so many different voice ranges and i love each and every one of them.
if you feel like your voice doesn't belong to you, i'm here to say that there's hope and you can get the voice you want! i used to sing/speak at a much higher range than i do now, and if you asked me years ago, i wouldn't have known how happy i would feel today with my voice.
im proud of you for being here and i hope you can be proud of yourself too <3
la la la? is that a la la la la la la la reference?
(like orpheus from hadestown)
@potasium-offical
thanks for the clarification because i would NOT have understood what you were referencing without it
no its actually a reference to a video from five years ago of my high school's baritone a capella group where they sang Leave the Door Open and sang "la la la" really badly. actually the whole song was kind of bad but don't tell them i said that
but no one here's going to understand the reference so hadestown is an acceptable interpretation of it
rb with your name, orientations and gender, preferred pronouns, optionally some struggles or joy being LGBTQ has brought you, and some comfort/affirmations or whatever for the person before and after you!!!! why is this so detailed bruh. and tag peeps ig??
Hai! I'm Nyxon
I am transgender FTM, asexual, and omniromantic!
My preferred pronouns are he/they!
Being LGBTQ makes me happy. Despite being cloested, it makes me feel like what I am actually makes sense and I'm not just some weird ahh guy. I used to be a girl who was angry a lot of the time for no reason, which is ironic ngl
I am [sexuality has not been unlocked], asexual, and nonbinary!
My preferred pronouns are They/Them. :)
I have a bunch of friends in the LGBTQ+ society...*stares*
Person before me: *deep breath* GET GENDER-AFFIRMED NYXON! HOW HE/HIM OF YOU! THEIR SO AWESOME GUYS LOOK HE/THEY HE/THEY HE/THEY BOY BOY BOY! AHHH THEY ARE SO ACCEPTED AND SCRUMPTIOUS WOWZA! EVERYONE LOVES THEM THEM THEM RIGHT???? (I am. So sorry if this is overboard. ^^' You can burn me at the stake if you want.)
Person after me: You're so cool and amazing and I think you deserve everything you put your little LGBTQ+ friendly heart to. :)
Happy pride month everyone! Have a very safe month because I am going to run over all the homophobe-shaped speed bumps as a treat! :3c
@sacabambaspis-offical @ashelf66 @confused-cookie-blog @toaster-waffle-offical @bacone-official @britishtea-again @unlabelled-offical @genderqueer-offical + anyone else who wants to join! Yay! This was fun! ^^
hey, i'm genderqueer. (no real name yet... so nicknames are very welcome)
i am genderfluid, aegosexual, and abroromantic!
[id: i am genderfluid, aegosexual, and abroromantic!]
my preferred pronouns depend on the day or situation... but i use she/her and he/him separately, or sometimes interchangeably. currently i think i'm going by he/him right now...
being queer is a very mixed experience for me. romantically, i absolutely love that i am able to feel attraction towards the beauty of every gender (albeit, sometimes at different times), however, for sexual and gender orientations, it can make me quite frustrated. because i'm afab, my gender dysphoria can be insane when i'd rather be male, which makes it irritatingly hard to be alone with my thoughts. secondly, the only reason i'm aegosexual (asexual) is due to the fact that i am not amab. when i'm feeling more male, i have a tendency to fantasize (not going to say it explicitly, but you know what i mean) and have it immediately tamped down because i don't have an amab body. it can get really fucking annoying.
person before me: hey pen, thanks for tagging me! you seem really cool and i'm very grateful that you're running over all the negativity :) have a safe and happy pride month!
person after me: though i haven't read your post, all of you experiences are valid. if you aren't already, you are going to be okay, things are going to work out, and everything you've done will very soon pay off. thank you so much for reblogging this post and sharing part of your life with us! have an absolutely gorgeous day, and an even better pride month <3
i'm choir, not sure i really have any other names here yet ^^
i am non-binary, asexual and panromantic!
my preferred pronouns are they/them
being queer is important to me. there are so many labels that you can find and sure it may take a while before you find the right one, but the community is so accepting most of the time. i feel like i have a chance to be free in my identity, even if i'm closeted to my family and even though i struggle every day with nearly being outed.
person before me: thank you for tagging me, genderqueer!! i've always admired genderfluid people - even if you don't really choose how you feel and when, i've always gotten the kindest vibes from you. i think you're strong and brave in sharing about your identity and the reasons for your sexuality, a lot of people would never share that. have a fantastic day + pride month!
person after me: thank you for reblogging! you are loved, you are worth it, you are allowed to be whoever you want to be. nobody else can stop you from being whoever you are, even if it's just for yourself. happy pride month everyone!
i'm trans agender, aroace, and experience alterous attraction. my pronouns are they/he etc.
i'm very lucky to be surrounded by people for who the most part accept me for who i am. i know not all queer people get that so i try to be grateful every day. i love being trans, i love being genderqueer, i love loving my friends without romance, i love being part of such a large community of loving people. i'm proud to be who i am and i think over the years i've become a lot more accepting of myself and more eager to be loudly who i am
to choir: thanks for the tag! it's great to know another enby ace person, and obviously the actual choir thing is a huge plus for me. i haven't known you for very long but i think you're great and i wish you nothing but happiness. happy pride month!!!
to the person after me: somedays life is going to be hard, but i'm rooting for you! if you're happy with who you are now, i'm happy for you. and if you're still working on acceptance, i'm here to say that you are valid for who you are. love you!
@whatifiwasmadeofbones @drumsticks-offical + open tags! i don't know that many people to tag since i'm a very new blog
so at my theater i'm part of our production of chicago the musical. and. so much stuff happened in the shows that i have to write about it.
first show:
the stage freaking breaks five minutes before the house opens. our head of set is nowhere to be found. we nearly send a thirteen-year-old techie under the stage to fix it. head of set appears. turns out the leg that was holding up that section of the stage was never properly drilled in in the first place, meaning we've all been dancing for years on a badly constructed stage where it could've fallen out from under us at any moment
second show:
velma forgets about one of her scenes and is on the wrong side of the stage. a good 10 seconds of silence as the other actors wait for her. a whispered FUCK is picked up by the mics and broadcasted through our speakers, followed by heavy breathing as velma sprints down the hallway to get to the other side of the stage (because we don't have a backstage) tech cuts her mic after about five really awkward seconds
we mess up the finale song, as in no one comes in and the band moved on without us, so we had to jump back in midsong. we were roughly wrong together though so at least that's alright
i personally trip three times throughout the performance. once because our head of set fixed the previously broken stage too well, so that the wooden plank now is slightly elevated above the rest of the stage. i'm not used to it and i trip over it while in spotlight. i trip again when my foot gets caught on the curtain during my entrance. and in one scene i have to come through the house doors and walk through the audience, and my 6 foot tall friend has his long as hell legs spread out all the way in front of him so i trip over that too
third show:
billy flynn addresses the jury. the jury is the pit band. during his speech, the band members pull out tissues and start wiping away tears. apparently they had collectively agreed to do this sometime between the second and third shows and not a single actor was made aware of the plan. billy flynn completely loses it and laughs through the rest of his speech while the rest of the ensemble tries to stay in character
we are all prepared for the band to pull out tissues. we are NOT prepared for them to pull out the largest, most colorful handkerchiefs in existence. the conductor pulls out a huge canadian flag from her sleeve and wipes her tears on them. one of the saxophone players just keeps pulling out what mustve been a mile long handkerchief from his pocket. second saxophone player pulls one out of her instrument. someone audibly blows their nose mid-speech. to add to the chaos, billy flynn (who by the way was STILL dying of laughter) pulls out a hundred-dollar bill to wipe his own tears with.
the band says they have even more prepared for today's show. and im a little afraid
we all await in anticipation to see what hell the band pulls off today. at first i think it's tissues. no. its toilet paper. they have rolls of toilet paper that they unroll and pass down from member to member. billy flynn managed to keep it together at least a bit better
not a bad thing but our mary sunshine improvised an amazing opera high note during a little bit of good and all of our jaws DROPPED it was the best thing i heard all day

I was talking to her about being in choir class, about how I used to be an alto but now I'm a tenor (I haven't rly voice trained. My singing voice is just naturally deep enough to be a tenor) and mentioned to her that my vocal range has become very compressed recently, and she was like "maybe it was because of your voice changing with puberty" and I didn't even correct her in the moment I was just like. What. Huh. Girl. Girl I think you forgor. I think you forgor something about me. That I didn't have a testosterone puberty. Makes me giggle thinking about it. Also means she probably always saw me a guy from the beginning with is !!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
If you could be any sort of undead, like a ghost, vampire, zombie, etc, what would you choose? I'm very curious to see what people will say, hence the tag game to make it spread a bit further!
Obviously I'm satisfied with being a ghost, but I would be a vampire if given the chance!
hmm that's a good question. i guess it really depends on what kind of interpretation you're going off of for each... butttt, i'm not gna go all into it.
at first glance, probably a zombie. the generalized vision of zombies is all they do is walk around and eat people for their brains... seems pretty relatable.
i, too, have the urge to obliterate the people around me for being much smarter than i am.
i was originally gonna say vampire for the fangs but no i think ghost for sure. my friend and i have already agreed to haunt one another depending on who dies first so obviously ghost.
