I’m about to punch a lot of you in the nostalgia. 

Zoep_illustration on insta showed me a video essay on YouTube about this old IP that I remember LOVING as a kid who played many girly flash games. Because it’s basically gone now, I thought it’d be fun to do a redesigning challenge/project with it. I love old girl-centric IPs like these.

For my iteration, I wanted Sue and her friends to 1. actually look and feel like their age, being 10-12 years old. I think the trope of young characters acting/seeming older in anime/east asian media is fine but the webseries for this niche ip often took it a little far lmao. 

With the idea in mind that these would be aimed more for an animation and toyline, I wanted to unify their palettes more and give them theme-colors as well as more expressive designs. Focusing more on their characters and less on the fashion side of things (sorry OG girlsgogamers.)

I genuinely think it’d be fun to learn to 3D model and actually design a Sue doll, print it out and so on. Unfortunately me and 3D are not a match, ever LOL. 

This was still fun, and I may continue to expand on the idea. I see the storyline similar to that of Magical Doremi or Creamy Mami, where Sue uses her abilities to deal with slightly mundane situations with later sprinkling in more serious-implications.
