HI. here's a THING. shadow knight aaron confronts garroth, mcd probably around s3 verse but mine and my friend’s little version of mcd.

His hands were shaking around his sword, feet heavy, uneven, on the ground beneath him. Garroth’s breath became far too loud, coupled with a sharp ring that didn’t seem to ease up. His face was drenched with sweat and blood, a few too close calls leaving sharp cuts. Thoughts racing, crashing, melting into one another in heat and despair and the way he simply could not bring himself to focus, dammit.

Aaron, for his part, was relentless in each rough and heavy swing of the broadsword he carried. His lips weren’t the ones quivering with guilt. Blank and cold, even as his armour radiated the red heat of the Nether. His fury was betrayed by blood-shot eyes, trained on his target. He didn’t speak much, even as Garroth tried to reason with him. Was this was became of Laurance, too? Cursing under his breath, he took initiative to place a foot forward and at least throw Aaron off balance.

Useless, almost stupid in afterthought, as Aaron only took the time to counter effortlessly. Garroth could swear he saw a sliver of a grin on his face as he did so. He pulled back, and Aaron let him. Became a game of sorts to him. Letting Garroth be his own downfall.

“Aaron.” He threw out, poison on his tongue and in his heart. “Think of Aphmau.”

The name caused a shift in the Shadow Knight, face twisting and fingertips burying themselves into the sword hilt. He lunged at the guard with newfound determination. Could taste the vengeance nearly within his hands. He wanted more than to pierce him with the metal he thrust forward. He wanted him to burn like he did. With hopelessness, helplessness, and pure fear.

Garroth fell back, holding himself up by the wall on his side. His eyes betrayed his weakness. Aaron could almost swear it was pity. He did not deserve to feel it. He needed to suffer to understand. Suffer alone, with no friends to run to. Aaron nearly gave in to a gleeful smile as he realised his mistake.

“You’re right, Garroth.” He spoke out his name slowly, relishing in each pained gasp from the Protector. “I should have thought of Aphmau. How she will scream once she realises her little prince won’t save her.”

Garroth could feel his blood freezing in his veins, pushing himself back up and rushing forward. He would not let some pale imitation of Aaron take his Lord’s life. He would die before he would ever allow it.

The monster, though, only moved out of the way. Garroth fell on the hard ground, mind spinning and a crushing sense of defeat worming its way into his hand, still reaching for his sword. He barely registered a boot kicking it far from him. A deep, unsettling and outright unnatural laughter rang out behind him.

“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you.” Aaron’s tone was filled with ice, burning deeper than Garroth could ever hope to understand. “I will make you beg for it first.”

The victor took his leave, and the guard felt his heart becoming heavier with each footstep. He created this. Each swing of destruction from the Shadow Knight was his fault. His alone. Perhaps he’d beg for death sooner than Aaron thought.
