Mine wasn’t! And the box is sealed so tbh I don’t think they would be source tagged (no way for employees to deactivate the tag at checkout without opening the box). But YMMV!

Mine was untagged too but just wanna say that the whole “no way for employees to deactivate the tag at checkout without opening the box” logic is not reliable at all because at my store alll their perfumes are source tagged and they just run it over a magnet that’s inside the checkout counter to deactivate it soooo be careful

I got caught: STORYTIME

So as you might have realised, I got caught today (for the first time ever) which sucked sort of but nothing really bad happened as it was only like 30 euros worth of merch.

I went into this high-end department store in my country (in Europe) and bought coke and stuff so I got a bag and even though I have noticed an increase in security in the city and I've been really paranoid, I decided to do it as I was like "I'm just gonna grab a few small things for my friend" (she got robbed so I wanted to be nice and get her some new make up and stuff as she lost all of hers).

I took a Burt`s Bees lip balm, a L`Occitane hand cream and a BB solid cleanser and I concealed really carefully and all so I wasn't even that nervous. They were like 30 euros altogether so it wasn't that much which really helped me. So I exit the store and walk for about a block when a security dude runs up to me and grabs me and says "come with me". At this point I went into shock and was really shaken so I just followed him back to the store into this tiny room with nothing in it except for a bench, a small very high table and a security camera. I have no idea how I got caught, but it is not like I was not gonna ask him how he realised I was stealing obviously. I think he just happened to see me on camera like taking stuff off shelves, not put them back and walk out without paying, you know. So I was really unlucky..

So we sit in the room and he takes the merch off me and looks through my coat and the plastic bag for other things. Nobody patted me down at any point though so a tip is to conceal on your person. I was in the tiny room for over an hour waiting for the cops and the security guard took my ID, address and asked why I did it and whether or not it was my first time stealing. I obviously said it was the first time and the things I got were such "first time lifting" things so it was perfect. I told them my friends had stolen jewellery from H&M and said it was easy so I decided to give it a go and I think they believed me. They were nice like nobody was rude and one guy even talked to me a bit and yeah.. I was just sitting on the bench looking down and texting a bit and acting super remorseful and sorta scared-ish which I honestly wasn't because after a while of sitting there I just became really bored and I knew it couldn't be super bad because I didn't have that much stuff on me. I also asked what was gonna happen to me etc. It was also this security guys first day at work so I guess he must have felt p good about himself hahah..

So after over an hour the cops show up and I was like ooo... They just ask for my address and ID and things and then we took a side door down to the police car (like a van thing) and they tell me to get in the back into the "holding cell" thing and close the door and they go in the front to write me a fine. I did not get banned from the store (THANK FUCK because it is one of my fav stores) and no prosecution either.

After like 20-ish minutes they come back and tell me it is petty theft and it is gonna stay on the police records for 2 years (no potential employers or schools should have access to that information which makes me so relieved) and I got a 36 euro fine. I am so happy. I do hope it won't affect me getting into university though but it really shouldn't. Other than that it was a cool experience and even though I am telling absolutely NOBODY (except PP of course) right now, it will defo make a good story when I am older lmao.

So my tips are act remorseful and be really nice to the LP/cops. Don't panic because there is nothing you can really do about it and don't go in with the attitude of "FUCK THE POLICE" because if you're stealing, you sort of deserve to get caught. I ain't even mad I got caught because it was my own fault for doing it in the first place plus I am so fucking happy nothing worse happened. Usually I never steal things so cheap you know. Anyways.. As for my lifting career idk what will happen. I might continue but only when I am out of town because damn they have stepped up their game here.

Finally got released! The whole thing took like 1.5 hours so it got p boring hahah.. Anyways I'm fine and I'm actually at the point where I can laugh about it and it was actually quite interesting of an experience! It's gonna be such a cool story for when I'm old lmao. I got super lucky and only got a 36 euro fine and it will stay in the cops "record" for 2 years but nobody will see it I think. So happy I got off this easy! I was so sure they'd bring me in and have a bunch of pics on the table of me stuffing a clarisonic etc in my bag.. Full story of how it all happened will come later if anyone's interested??
