Fred Astaire and his daughter Ava photographed by Ralph Crane, 1958.
Life after Phyllis' death .... dances on ...
Looking “like a knife” in ‘Dancing Lady’
“A good man knows his limitations” - Harry Callahan- Dirty Harry
He may not have looked or done as many big spectacular moves as Gene Kelly- but Fred Astaire never pushed beyond what was the perfect amount needed in any dance. Subtlety. Perfection. Look carefully and compare the balance of these two. Fred holds his own, and also holds Kelly back from overcooking it.

Dancing in the Empathicalist’s Den- Funny Face.
It always make me laugh.
Harpo and Astaire- they both said it best without using words
I love how he looks like a gawpy teenager who got very lucky at the school dance in these bits. Follows Gingers shoulder movements then shakes his hands in glee because of her cheeky joy, and that he is there with her.
After the credits- when Fred and Honey have had a little too much Sangria?
