I have zero love for E3 as an industry event but 100% love for the podcasts coming from my favorite sleep-addled journalists. Doodling away on this piece for my month-long, likely to become summer-long project for pride was absolute bliss.
I always feel insecure when it comes to painting and rendering. I'm impatient and I find the technical process more frustrating than anything else, in part because of college baggage. I'm doing a month-long challenge to get a little more comfortable and to hopefully form a good sketchbook habit.
Done with acrylic because, wow, I have a lot of it.
The ace of swords represents a moment in which you must seek out the truth and bring about justice to overcome a great obstacle. If you walk the righteous path with mental clarity then you will realize your potential and succeed in your cause.
Jacob's arc in Sword of Justice is emblematic of the card; fate brings Jacob, a boy wrongfully accused of murder, to the angel Tyrael's sword to wield against the spreading malignance of the world.
This was one of those projects that came suspiciously easy. Once I figured out how I was going to approach it, the ideas poured in and it’s likely thanks to tarot having such a rich tradition to tap into.
Axel, from my worldbuilding project Elaios. He prototyped the first primitive machines that would later lead to Vont’s industrial revolution -- after he committed regicide and accepted asylum in an enemy's court.
I did this almost entirely live on Twitch, though the videos have all expired by now (boo)! I can’t wait to start streaming again. As a socially awkward and generally quiet person, it was nerve-wracking, but the thing I miss most about college is having a community of folks that were into the same things and wanted to do it together which is something that Twitch theoretically can provide.
There are so many artists that I love and follow but I tried to keep it to the inspirations that weathered years of evolving tastes. Whenever I'm lost, I turn to these guys. <3
The line drawing is finally (mostly) finished! I’m so excited, and also absolutely terrified, to get into colors! You can check out the progress on this in real time over on my Twitch channel. Almost all of it is recorded.
My warmup for my Saturday stream was a Sailor Moon paintover using colors from a gamut mask! I've never tried the gamut mask technique before, but I like the results. I may try it out again on my next piece.
A WIP doodle of one of my OCs in between assignments!
The final sketch is done! Time to clean up the lines and lay in the base colors.
WIP on the piece I’m working on over on Twitch. Tune in Thurs - Saturday from 7PM - 10PM to watch me work in real time!
I’ll be working on character designs for the above illustration from 7-10 PM (EST) today, tomorrow, and Saturday! Check it out on Twitch.
For my first ever livestream on Twitch, I started chipping away on this sketch! I’m so excited to develop this one. If you’d like to see its past and future progress, check out my Twitch channel.
I gave a go at a flat style for my character, Casey.
Some of the first drawings I did with my new Cintiq!
A drawing of Michelle Moe, one of the most crazy beautiful artists on Instagram/Tumblr. Check her stuff out!
