"Mmm, speak for, speak to, either way letās leave your mother out of this- how are you doing sweetheart?"
"Couldn't be better, actually. Life's exciting. How's being out of prison treating you, hm? What'd you do to get yourself out of that place?"

"How would I live with myself if I never stopped by? --I can't speak for my mother, of course."
"āCanāt be worse than mine." He doesnāt know, really. His mother is okay. Sickly, hardly present, but okay. As for his father, it was hard telling what he was like. Zeke had never met the man. "Come on. They canāt be that bad."
They can't be that bad, he said, even though she knew some of her parents' actions were nothing short of terrorist activities. She leaned in and carded a hand through his hair, pulling herself close. He was everything she'd never had, everything she never thought she wanted. Zeke made her happy, and she couldn't ruin that quite yet with him meeting her parents. There's still a rift between him knowing she acted out on a regular basis as it was, and she was concerned that he'd leave if he knew that she was a generally less-than-likable person.
"I hate them, Zeke. I don't want you to meet people that I hate."
"Well, I meanā¦ Iām gonna have to meet them eventually, right?"
