Consider: Dumbledore wanted Neville to come with Harry, Ron, and Hermione to retrieve the Sorcerer’s Stone
The challenges to the Stone all seem to line up with specific skills for the trio (Harry - the keys; Hermione - the potion puzzle; Ron - the chess match) or significant moments in their friendship (the troll). But the thing that doesn’t fit is the Devil’s Snare.
So what if they were missing someone crucial who supposed to come on this quest?
Just before the trio headed out to find the Stone, they were confronted by - who else - Neville. This isn’t the first time Neville came along on these first year adventures. He was also there for the midnight duel, and he tried to warn Harry and Hermione that Malfoy was after them when they went to deliver Norbert(a) to Charlie’s friends. And we know that Neville has a talent for Herbology - the very subject needed to defeat the Devil’s Snare.
So what if Dumbledore was expecting Neville to come along on this adventure too? And WHAT IF, Dumbledore was intending to test Neville - to see if he could potentially replace Harry in defeating Voldemort if needed?
Dumbledore might have had this all planned out, and there might have been hints about Neville’s destiny all along.
(Thanks to our guest Faith and host Kat for developing this theory!)

Idk who actively uses tumblr but you may remember that I have (had?) a jewelry snob tag. Well, my boyfriend’s grandmother gave him her wedding ring and we are hoping to use this unique, beautiful ring for our engagement. Thinking of using bigger diamonds but still retaining the over-all effect. What are your thoughts?
thought i’d follow up on this since we are moving forward and hoping to make things official by this time next year. he’s upgrading the center stone to double its size. we may not be able to keep these original emeralds (the woman at the jewelry store said they’re so old that they may disintegrate), but we’ll replace them if we need to. he is also going to update the setting with something that still honors the original look, but is a little sleeker and more contemporary.
it might seem unconventional that i already know what the ring is going to look like… but he wanted to know what i thought about it before he invested in upgrading the ring. At the time she gave it to him, I was very into marquise cut stones, and I still had a soft spot for emerald cut and asschers. BUT you seldom see those cuts with yellow gold. I know yellow gold has a bad reputation, but I exclusively wear yellow gold. I was trying to think about how white gold or platinum would look with the rest of my jewelry… it just wasn’t “me.” And this ring–especially with the emerald accents–is me. Plus I love being able to use something from his family. I’ve never seen a ring like this before, and if there’s one thing I hate, it’s cookie cutter rings.
Hopefully this can serve as a lesson that yellow gold CAN be classy–not tacky or gaudy; it doesn’t have to look like our moms’ engagement rings from the 80s. And for those of you who want something unique, yellow gold (which is uncommonly used for millenial engagements) and colorful accent stones are definitely a way to achieve that.
Also i got permission to post this but ONLY on tumblr
+1 for yellow gold engagement rings with colored stones
