anyways um hi, sorry to just put up that vague post and fall off the face of the planet. I’m doing better now, but it’ll probably be abit until I’m back up and running. I’m working on things for my multifandom multimuse and then getting my genshin blogs in order.

I’d rather not go too deep into what happened with me, but um I am officially diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety, and ADD. This has changed how I view my writing and my space to do so a bit - so when i do come back i’ll be updating my rules and hopefully having a better time overall here than i was previously.

Thank you all for your understanding and good wishes to those who sent those in. I appreciate it.

It’s one of the rare moments he’s alone, Paimon is resting….somewhere. Who knows where the guide goes to when she disappears in a flurry of stars. Being alone is always awful for Aether, terrifying, even. But he wouldn’t deny his companion of rest, that would be too cruel.

So now he’s training in the wilderness by himself, busying his mind with something other than the increasing loneliness he feels. Instead his thoughts go to the battle in Liyue, those were still fresh in his mind and a perfect distraction as he swings his sword forward. He can still feel the power that the Adepti gave him on his fingertips. It was so strange yet familiar, so similar to how his power used to feel. So similar that when all was said and done, he felt even more empty than he had before.

How much longer must he be this weak? How much longer must he rely on elements from foreign gods to feel even a sliver of what he used to?

In frustration, he stabs the sword into the ground, much like how he had stabbed the sword into the jade chamber. A moment afterwards, he falls to his knees, breathing heavily from overexertion and frustration. He had been at this for hours now without rest. But if it meant he could chase that feeling of being whole again, he would go for hours more.

What had meant to be a distraction had only pulled him further into his feelings of loneliness and sorrow, but he pulls himself up to his feet regardless. He couldn’t let himself be consumed just yet - so why was it that his vision blurred with tears?

   ‘ uh… it’s   your   brother… princess ‘    The   words   of   the   abyss  mage   still   lingers   as   he   had    announced   the    arrival   of   young  male  on  a   rampage   in   her   territory ,   obvious   that    he   had   finally   known  her   whereabouts   and    was   in   complete  state  of   bewilderment.     She   understand   his   ache ,  in   some  way   but   it   had   long  unable  to  reach   her.

     The   mages ,   her   minions,  can   no  longer  uphold   the   chaos   from  a   single   man ;  of  course   they  can’t   they  are  Gods  after all.   The  only   reason   they   aren’t   as  powerful  as   those  Archon  of   this   world   is   because  they  were   cursed.  With  a   sigh,  she   had   no  other  options   than   face   her   brother  ;   it   wasn’t   the   time   to   meet   yet  for   their   destiny   is   still  in   the   midst    of   despair   but   she   wouldn’t   let   him   get   in   her  way    to   achieve    what   the   abyss’s   desires.

       Footsteps , echoed   through   the  darkened  halls   of   the   abyss   ;  and   in  distant   lumine   can   see   different   flickers   of   light,   blast  and   powerful  elemental  surges   through   as  she   get   closer   and   closer.  She   bit   her   lips   in   anticipation   with   one   final   turn ;   and   a   3  stories   tall   away  ;    she   finally   spotted   her   dear   brother.  Her  disheveled  ,  battle-torn   twin ,  panting ;    sword   held   tightly   in   his   grip   as   various  ruin  guards   and   abyss  mages   surrounded  him.

       The   chaos   had   stopped   as   soon  she   had   appeared,  golden  eyes   held   no  emotions  as  she  stared   down    at   the  scene  unfolded   to  her.   “ Aether… “ she   said ,  “  i  see… you   were   the   one   who   was   causing  such   mess    in   this   place ;   and    here   i   thought    it   was   just   a   random  adventurer ,  or   the  foolish   knights  of   favonius again.   

There was no time to spare, no time to even think. He had to get through the hoard, he had to. He could hear Paimon’s cries to be careful and warnings for attacks, but they were going in one ear and out the other. Like a man possessed he moved forward through the abyss and closer to his goal. He couldn’t stop now, not when he has come so close to finding his sister. The thought of reunion had been the only thing keeping him going all this time, and it might actually become a reality. He couldn’t stop now-!

Yet, everything else in the room did. He blinks, snapping out of his trance-like state as he noticed how all the enemies in the room ceased movement to look up towards one spot.

Suddenly he’s terrified. What if it wasn’t her? Or if it was - what if she didn’t want to see him? What if she was angry at him for taking so long to find her? He held his breath as he heard his name being called. 

It was her....finally.

He looks up, the stars in his eyes shining brightly as he finally laid eyes on her. “Lumine!” He calls out, taking steps through the enemies. He didn’t stop to think on why they had stopped moving at her presence, or why they almost appeared to be bowing in her direction. It was all static as he tried to close the distance between the two of them. 

Her words seemed strange, but he was willing to brush those off. It was her eyes that caused his steps to slow to a stop. When had the stars left her eyes?

“Lumine....” Still, he can’t stop now. Not after everything. “I’ve been looking everywhere-..” He grips his sword tighter. Something is wrong, but he refuses to acknowledge it, even as Paimon is whispering in his ear the same sentiment. He holds up his free hand, hoping she would come down and take it. But his stomach twists uncertainly. Was she mad? Did something happen. “C’mon....let’s get out of here.”

“Oh, you’re awake?” Aether blinked as the guide made herself known, though clearly in a groggy state as she slowly floated over to his spot perched on a cliff. “Sorry, I hope I didn’t wake you.” He offers his hand to her to help stabilize herself until she was fully awake, and once she let go he lowered his hand to look at the sky. 

He liked the sky in Teyvat. He couldn’t put his finger onto why, but it was nice....if only he could fly through it like he could in other worlds. Touch the stars with his hands and dance among them with his sister...

“You can go back to sleep if you want, we have an early day tomorrow.” Which he always said yet let her sleep in regardless. “Or were you looking to get a midnight snack? I can try to make you something.”

For as much strength as he displays on the battlefield Aether is surprisingly light, making the journey to the winery a rather quick one as he makes his way along the road. He doesn’t even have to ask Paimon about what happened for she’s quick to divulge exactly what she thinks happened.

Once at the winery he instructs one of the maids to bring a cold towel and some extra pillows, then deposits Aether onto one of the guest beds. 

“I’ll have a doctor in to take a look at you shortly, but for now the best thing you can do is try to sleep it off.” Diluc explains as he wrings the excess water from the towel into the bucket provided by a maid and folds it onto Aether’s head. “Though.. ah, if the ladies would leave the room so we could change you into some dry clothes… Paimon, that includes you.”

It’s awkward, at the very least, being carried like this. Embarrassing even. He’s reminded of when he’s had to carry Lumine in a similar fashion due to injury or annoying request on her part. It causes him to sink, putting his burning forehead on Diluc’s shoulder as they walked. Of course he would start to wallow in selfpity if given the moment. Which was why he had pushed himself so far, even through rain as Paimon explained to Diluc. In his defense, he did not think it would affect him. Had losing his powers really made him so weak? If he was this weak, what of Lumine?

He’s snapped out of the pit of his thoughts by the realization of him being placed on a soft bed. His eyes close and he flops backwards with a heavy sigh, his aching body welcoming the comfort for a moment. His eyes open at the wet cloth being placed onto his head, and there’s a shiver that goes down his spine at the sensation. Was having a fever always so miserable? He’ll have to listen to paimon’s warnings next time. 

Speaking of Paimon, he can just barely make out her objections before eventual resignation - then the door closed. He can only assume that she listened to Diluc and left the room, but he’s too busy staring at the ceiling to confirm that. “Sorry again....” He mumbles as his eyes finally glance over at the redhead. 

“I’ve...never been sick before.” He states, despite better judgement saying otherwise. But that’s what it was, wasn’t it? He was sick. What an awful feeling...

“Ah, Traveler. You have arrived at a most fortuitous time.” Dipping his head a little at the other in respectful acknowledgement, Zhongli stood with the slightest crease in his brow, arms crossed with one lifting a graceful hand to his chin. “I was pondering a matter that is of little practical import, but great importance for my own personal perusing.” Golden amber eyes flickered to the side briefly as a frown tugged on the edges of his lips. “If you would indulge my probing, may I ask your opinion on the recent events surrounding… my person specifically, I suppose?”

“Do you need help with something?” Is Aether’s first line of thought after hearing Zhongli’s greeting. It would be no trouble if the other did need help, he had all but become completely accustomed to being an errand boy of sorts. But the question isn’t what he expects, and it takes a moment for Aether to try and piece together what was really being asked in his mind. 

“Do you mean your decision to live among the people as Zhongli? Or the whole gnosis thing?” Thankfully they’re alone enough, that Aether can bring up such things so bluntly. “In the end, I don’t think it’s anyone’s business but your own, but I mean....--” He does have a few opinions on the matter, as an outsider looking in. But he wasn’t used to giving such opinions, normally only an observer or passerby in worlds - Teyvat was challenging him in more ways than one...

“Or is something else on your mind?” He decides to add.
