Weâre aware that some people in the Philippines are having trouble accessing Tumblr or images on Tumblr. Weâve reached out to the affected ISPs and their government regulatory agency, which is all we can do for something like this. While we canât remove or circumvent any blocks placed on Tumblr by an internet service provider or a government agency, we are monitoring the situation and hope that it is resolved soon.

This is why I do affiliate marketing and print on demand. I'm a Zazzle Creator, and I make merch catering to people who share the same interests like me.
My recently sold item? Labels for small business who ship fragile items. Of course, reselling isn't enough to make ends meet, but with my 15 years' experience in SEO and trends, selling supplies for resellers CAN AND WILL.
POV: youâre attending Midnight Mass at a Catholic church with a pipe organ that has at least 3 manuals and 50 stops. The brass ensemble, timpanist, and organist plays the fanfare. You, the choir (in whom some of the sopranos sing this SICK-BOOTY descant), and the congregation sing this hymn as the priest and altar servers make their way towards the altar:
Then, most of the kids in nearby pews sing the refrain of this hymn like this:
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore Him
OH COME LET US ADORE HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMM
CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSTTT THE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRDDDD!!!
Back in the mid-to-late 90s, when I was a little girl, I did ballet/tap combo and the first 2 levels of ballet. My dance studio rarely had their students overstretch.
So what is overstretching? Well, thatâs when dancers use often injurious tactics to increase extreme ranges of motion.
âWeâre seeing labral tears (tears in hip joints) and issues in their back in 11 and 12-year-olds,â physiotherapist Lisa Howell told Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 2015, âwhich is very disconcerting because while theyâre doing these moves to make themselves better dancers, they are often actually ruling themselves out of a professional career because they are getting injuries so young.â
âThe biggest issue we have now is that people are taking moves from rhythmic gymnasts and trying to insert them into dance and trying to do this in a very, very quick way as a one stop shop, rather than looking at all of the detailed training that has to go in before any of those tricks are actually attempted.â
âIf they look like they are unsafe they probably are. If you cringe then it probably is cringeworthy.â
The trend actually started a few years earlier before social media took off. In 2002, netizens on Dance.net started posting pictures of contortionists and rhythmic gymnasts on their stretching pages. Initially, they became motivators for them to become more flexible.Â
Through competition footage vids, despite the prevalence of dial-up internet, dancers allegedly also started to borrow key movements from RG in their routines.
The movements included fouettes with legs in horizontal (grandes pirouettes a la secondes en dehors, or a la seconde turns, also borrowed from collegiate/HS dance teams); front or side split pivots with help (pirouettes detires, or leg hold turns); and scissor leaps in ring with both legs passing to the floor (pas de kiltses en tournant, or turning C jumps).
IMHO, this is what my brain sees watching video footage of youth dance competitions, especially the musical theater routines that arenât related to the showtuneâs originating musical.
While they allegedly have dancers reaping top brass at dance competitions, classic jazz dance proponents feel that such movements are cheapening the dance genre by trading in history and heritage for flash and shock value.
âThe prime reason for the choreography was to display the ability of
the dancer, often resulting in a surfeit of tricks and of course the ridiculous inclusion of fouettĂŠ turns (or rather, said grandes pirouettes a la secondes en dehors) in a jazz dance routine,â Matt Mattox protege and master teacher Bob Boross told audiences at the Dance Teacher Summit in 2018.
âI would imagine that it hasnât gotten much better in recent years, but competition jazz dance has not done much to improve the quality of the form or its knowledgeability in its audience.â
âThis idea of truthfulness in jazz dance is a big issue in todayâs jazz dance world. The term âjazz danceâ is used and misused in so many areas. Dances that have little or no jazz dance qualities are routinely (and inaccurately) described as jazz dance.â
Another thought in my brain watching a youth dance competition.
âWhen a media outlet has great or highly influential visibility (So You Think You Can Dance, etc.), the audience begins to believe the inaccurate description, and in the process the truth of jazz dance is ignored. What often is called jazz dance will have minimal jazz dance characteristics.â
Boross listed qualities of jazz dance sorely needed in much of youth dance education: grounded, relaxed hits that emanate from the pelvis outward; judicious use of body isolations (non-sexual, of course); sense of âcool;â inclusion of rhythmic sophistication; and manipulation of dynamic impulse.
Above all, many dance teachers are pedantic in jazz dance history, which is why many MT routines (especially those to any cover of âLe Jazz Hotâ or Tami Tappan Damianoâs âHit Me With a Hot Noteâ) lack context, let alone the era of the song or originating musical.Â
Such as the case of my TFBSAADE Zazzle and TeePublic line, Less Oversplits, More Savoy Kicks.
Besides the fact that sports science increasingly urges dance teachers to eschew overstretching and hyper-detires (in which dancers shoulder their legs next to their earlobes and beyond that) in favor of functional strength and cross-training and dynamic flexibility, I created this design to ALSO promote jazz dance history and heritage that will trump over gluts of tricks.Â
âResearch and know the history of your genre,â Boross informed, âKnow the music of jazz in its early formations â ragtime, hot jazz, swing, bebop, cool jazz⌠And also know the standard dances that were created to meld with these jazz rhythmic elements. Have the music and movements solid in your mind and in your bones.â
âAnd once you have that, then let this be a subliminal guide in
your jazz dance creations of today. You will find that aspects of the true jazz formations of the past will emerge in your work, or the overall look/style of your jazz dance will show a reflection back to the veracity of the past.â
âThis is a surefire way to know that your work is truly âjazzâ and that you are honoring the past as you move into the future.â
And also - limit the overstretching, please.
Hereâs some JAZZ DANCING that doesnât require pirouettes detires or other tricks borrowed from the FIG RG Code of Points!
The Story Behind My Dance Parents Reminder Collection
The similar behaviors between dance parents and sports parents is one facet that explains that to some people, dance is seen as a sport.
Should their studios their kids attend be competitive, and they are part of a competition team, some parents would boo at other studios, especially when theyâd snub awards. Theyâd complain to teachers for not including tricks because their kids arenât technically trained enough to properly execute them. Theyâd even get verbally and physically violent with the judges for unfairly scoring their kidsâ routines.
Some teachers have ways to deal with overzealous parents. Some would simply un-enroll the child. And in some cases, theyâd ask the judges to pull entire routines from competitions to have them behave better.
My inspirations behind the customizable, Zazzle-exclusive product line are witty signs Little League teams would erect mostly on outside perimeters of their ballparks. Sayings vary from:
These are kids.
Their coaches volunteer.
The umpires are human.
You donât play for (an MLB team of said Little League teamâs metro area).
To:
Iâm just a kid.
Itâs just a game.
My coach volunteers.
The umpires are human.
Any university scholarships WONâT be handed out today.
âYouTube is filled with adults fighting during or after Little League games,â Jerriann Sullivan wrote on ScaryMommy, âWatch 30 seconds of one and youâll plaster a baseball field with similar warnings to parents to avoid your kids seeing that type of unnecessary violence.â
âLittle League games give kids a place to have fun while also teaching them how to be gracious when they lose. The parents and coaches should be the first example of that sportsman-like behavior. Itâs just a game and theyâre just kids trying to enjoy themselves.â
If those signs would work for Little League parents, I pondered, would the same concepts work for dance parents? Those dance parents whoâd - like their sports counterparts - bicker with their coaches? Those dance parents whoâd scream, âWerk it!,â every 10 seconds while their child would dance the female variation from Ben Stevensonâs Pas De Deux from Esmeralda at a ballet competition?
With that, the Dance Parent Reminder customizable Zazzle merchandise line was born. Teachers and studio owners CAN customize the lines of text on flyers, wall decals, window clings (great on mirrors too), and other items that motion parents to know that proper theater etiquette and good sportsmanship are required.
âSomething that drives student-athletes crazy is when their parents look for revenge with judges or the coaches,â Seattle-based ballroom dance instructor Atanas G. Malamov explains, âJudges are doing the best they can. They have professional integrity; the sport is very subjective, and make human mistakes.â
âTaking your abuse is not part of the job description. But the child- athletes recognize this better than the parents. They feel bad for the judges and coaches. They understand that they are doing their best, the same way the athletes are trying. Your yelling embarrasses them and sets a bad example.â
âThese statements can be broken down into one: I love to watch you dance. Notice the unconditional love, complete acceptance of the child, and lack of pressure or attention to performance. Kids already know that they dance to win. They know to avoid mistakes. What they need to know is that you love them no matter what.â
And the Dance Parent Reminder line will help studio owners and faculties ensure that their dance parents will be THOSE good sports!
With 100 days till Christmas, ballet companies big and small are planning and auditioning dancers for their productions of The Nutcracker (or winter/Christmas recitals). If youâre studio owners or faculty members who are of mom-and-pop (and especially noncompetitive) studios, then distribute these FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE flyers to dancersâ kin alongside their program booklets. Remember, dance is AN ART FIRST, and you MUST remind parents to treat it as such!
Bad news: I was supposed to hand out my business cards I bought from Zazzle 2 months ago for a garage sale this weekend, but lost most of them while cleaning the house.
Good news: you can support me in my upcoming 2 years in a van traveling across America via checking these and other products in my Zazzle stores. Iâd TOTALLY APPRECIATE IT!
Evergreen, Everyday Items (or Why Evergreen Content is Most Profitable)
âWOW! So you sell evergreen, everyday items as a Zazzle marketer? Like, isnât it only for birthdays, special occasions, vacations, and holidays?â
If youâre catching yourself asking those questions, ask any vet content marketer, blogger, or designer-distributor who makes monthly profits multiple times larger than what the average middle-classperson makes a year why evergreen content is the most profitable of ALL.
So what is evergreen content, I hear you ask. Hereâs what the vets say:
âEvergreen content is search-optimized content that is continually relevant and stays âfreshâ for readers over a long period of time, Â as the name implies,â an article on Digital Marketing Institute reads, âYou may think that all online content is sustainable; after all, a blog post doesnât just disappear after you publish it. But evergreen content is different. It continues to be relevant long past its publication date, with search traffic growing over time.â
Items for small businesses that are year-round, like this witty rubber stamp for local music stores, are constantly-profitable items.
Coming from someone who has written internet content since graduating high school in 2008 (starting with sites like Triond, Associated Content, and HubPages) evergreen content is independent of holidays, current events, and trending topics of the day.
Itâs content that is relevant and REMAINS RELEVANT for you and your subsequent future generations, just like time-honored-and-treasured heirlooms. Of course and obviously, presidential elections and the latest trending memes are just ephemeral topics to sell, though you will experience high sales.
And as one 1936 Professor Grampy cartoon attests, Christmas comes but once a year. Sales of your year-independent items (or items in which you insert your own year) that greet buyers, âMaligayang Pasko,â will dwindle after New Yearâs, not to pick up slightly in July (if thereâs a âChristmas in Julyâ sale) and gain momentum in about September. (Thank you, Christmas creep and Ber-months in the Philippines!) We call this seasonal content.
Evergreen content has EVERYTHING to do with you as a Zazzle designer and distributor yourself. Yes, seasonal items [including the ones that sing âJesus Christ is Risen Todayâ or say âHAGS (Have a Great Summer)â] sell BIG before and during their respective times of the year, but items based on evergreen content that CAN BE used every week and/or day continue to sell each month.
âThe most basic definition of evergreen products are products that have strong and predictable sales records throughout a year,â Tony Do, of SellGo, defines, âThis means the products are always in demand and usually remain unaffected despite external factors or societal changes. To understand evergreen products, it is important to understand why people buy these products in the first place.â
âSimply put, evergreen products are products that fulfill our basic needs and everyday lives. Consumers are always looking for products that meet the needs of 3 key aspects of their lives: health, lifestyle, and relationships. Whether it be fitness gear or cookbooks, shoppers are looking for these types of products year-round. By following evergreen products, sellers may find a whole forest of profitable, in-demand products.â
The more evergreen content you generate, the more sustainable your profits will be. It wonât even matter if you are facing constant or sporadic internet disruptions or have very busy days that seemingly donât pertain to your businesses. It wonât even matter if youâre eschewing Wi-Fi packages on cruises, either.
Evergreen products will ALWAYS be hardy against those situations!
Some of my favorite evergreen niches to categorize and sell on POD sites are music, health, everyday transportation, education, and financial freedom.
People will ALWAYS look for items that make them stick to their health-based goals; drop themselves out of the rat race; tell the world that they bear crosses of bringing children to errands, school, and appointments; or make it know that they allow them and their childrenâs children to read books of their own choosing as opposed to those according to whichever color, number, or numerical level schools dictate them to read within.
Over at the True Freedom Believers On the Move Sari-Sari, for instance, the items under the âBaon Again?â collection are initially intended for kids going on vacations. But they DOUBLE as school apparel and items too, thus me describing them as such. After all, Oxford Languages defines this Filipino term as âmoney, food, or other provisions taken to school, work, or on a journey.â
Sure, you can sell summertime pool parties, âgeneric Halloween costumes,â and Christmas ornaments all the live long day. But if you wanna get the POD cheddar coming to you month after month, consider giving creating evergreen content-based products a spin!
Behind the Neurodiversity Infinity Hearts Favor & Stationary Line Design
As a neurodivergent Zazzle designer - no, TUMBLRIONAIRE-TO-BE - I use the GIMP Photo Editor A LOT. And I used it to GREAT effect on my product lines, Neurodiversity Infinity Hearts.
So why hearts clustered into infinity symbols as opposed to puzzle pieces, you ask? There are many forms of neurological disabilities such as ADHD and autism (which I have), and they are different on everybody.
âIt is also considered a response to the puzzle piece symbol, which many autistic people consider highly offensive,â a 2019 article on the Nova Scotia Advocate explained.
âLong thought of as the main symbol of autism, it has often been associated with the idea that autistic people are missing pieces or puzzles to be solved, so that they can become whole people. In this context, the puzzle piece symbol, as well as the puzzle piece ribbon, are considered by autistic people to contribute to stigma through negative associations.â
Plus, the hearts in each infinity symbol obviously symbolize acceptance.Â
To make those symbols, I first downloaded the above clipart from my go-to pub-domain image site, Pixabay. Next, I opened it onto GIMP, then right-clicked the layer to select âAlpha to Selection.â Next, I added a new layer above it and filled the selection with a gradient of choice. I expanded the canvasâs height and tacked on the TFB logo.
To make the pattern, I merged the layers containing the infinity symbol and the TFB logo and expanded the canvas. I added a blank layer under that layer and adjusted the layer boundaries to better fit the top one.
I aligned it to center using the Alignment tool. I merged the layers and clicked on Layer>Transform>Offset. I selected the âBy Width/2, Height/2âł option. I clicked on Filters>Map>Tile, and adjusted the size of the image. I HIGHLY prefer using the maintenance of aspect ratio and expanding the width to at least 4000px (I used 4500px as the width), especially when incorporating such images on blankets, wrapping paper, and the ilk.
Once saved as .png with a transparent background, I then incorporated it on a POD design with a complementary, contrasting background color. For instance, I set the pattern of the infinity symbols colored in Bright Tropical Spectrum against a dark blue background (not because I partake in the blue-light autism awareness initiatives) for visibility in the design of this gift bag.Â
I also made that design, seen here in this roll of wrapping paper, using the Golden Brass gradient - logo and symbol. I set it against a black background. Itâs not only great for those New Yearâs Eve or other very special occasions, but I designed it for those who prefer gold infinity symbols to blue jigsaw puzzle pieces.Â
âGold as a color for today is preferred as it is based on the chemical symbol for gold being âAu,â the first two letters of autism,â edpsy.org.uk explained, âbut also because throughout history gold has been something that is strived for and of immense value â often missing from the lives of autistic people.â
âAutistic people are often empathic, sensitive, caring people, but dominant narratives would suggest otherwise; and because of that we can spend our lives not being accepted and often not being valued for who we are.â
On royalties earned through items with the Infinity Hearts designs? A portion of them will go to neurodiversity acceptance charities.
