Boulder goes though intense 5 stages of grief whenever something happens to an animal on a nature documentary (predator got them, drowned, etc)
Hightide has these magnetic sections on the surface between his digits that can snap together to create a sort of webbed servo (quick doodle to show what I mean)
Blurr's Velocitronian origins leads to him having markings that are only visible under blacklight, they look similar to Na'vi markings from Avatar, exept he does NOT know about it (probably forgor) so everyone else (him included) freaks out when Doc Greene switched on a blacklight for a scientific demonstration (I'm planning on drawing this soon don't worry)
(The above headcanon has literally no basis at all and are just for funsies, I like to imagine that Velocitronians (alongside other bots from different colonies) have features which are unique from those from Cybertron
These markings resemble stripes, spots or swirls, think of it as Blaschko's Lines, no idea why, it just seems fitting for a planet's population who's always on the move. I also like to imagine that "relatives" or "parents" combine/pass on markings to their sparklings)
Heatwave is able to dramatically cool the tips of his digits to snuff out small flames
Chase's audial antennas are capable of moving (subtly) to convey emotion
The Burns family have a social media account where they post funny and entertaining PSAs for the island, sometimes the bots get in on it
Human AU Blurr is very sensory seeking when it comes to food to a point where he dramatically over-seasons or over-salts or adds seasoning to things that don't need seasoning (e.g mashed potatoes.) It does actually taste good, it's just everyone else's tongues have been brainwashed by the "less is more" seasoning propaganda... and therefore don't appreciate it as much as him.
A little headcanon I had for sparkling and carriers,
If the carrier is alone but wants a sparkling they take some sort of cybertronian pill kinda like birth control, they take it and boom out goes a sparkling but if the carrier has a close friend, bot in their life then the sparkling will take a resemblance to that said bot take for example: quickshadow carrying hotshot and heatwave was her closest friend so hotshot takes a resemblance to heatwave

Whirl Jr. used to live with her sire, Whirl, back at Cybertron, and she had a good life there. But she never got a chance to shine not as a shadow of her own father, but her own bot (Whirl’s not a bad dad, he’s trying his hardest to help her achieve what she wants more than anything). Until one day, Optimus Prime came telling Whirl Jr. about the Academy and that she can choose if she wants to go. Her sire encouraged her to go there so that she can finally achieve her dream. Whirl Jr., out of excitement, decided to go to finally make her desire come true! She is incredibly optimistic, cheerful, and hyper-enthusiastic. She approaches every rescue training lesson with intense joy and high spirits. She loves human habits and items, much like her fellow flight-bot Blades. Her unique intuition leads to eccentric theories that usually turn out to be correct in the end. Her eagerness can occasionally startle her peers, but she remains a loyal and dedicated teammate. She looks up to Chase as a mentor and models her law-enforcement dreams after his disciplined style, even if her own execution is much more chaotic and cheerful.

Holy smokes bro... this is LITERALLY the pinnacle of OTP.
I love love love love LOVE them together so much, their dynamic is so interesting and flavourful if you were to really take the time to look and study it
They're like two husbands who don't call eachother husbands but at the end of the day curl up beside eachother like two cats, even though they had a rough patch and didn't get on well before the whole incident, I think they've since grown past that and really down settled nicely together
I like to imagine that 10,000 years ago, they only really saw eachother as weird colleagues who had no choice in the amount of time they had to spend together; barely getting to know one another past any surface level knowledge
Blurr was a racer from Velocitron (duh) who was surrounded by constant love and appreciation, though this positivity from others only really came with the intention of gaining something out of him
Blurr took on a side job of being a transport pilot in order to try find more worth and purpose to his own life
Salvage was from Cybertron who was only ever employed by others for his strength and engineering capabilities
He has an incredibly vivid imagination, boosting his creativity drive which leads him to always building or fixing things
Whilst he was younger, this creativity was never praised due to his prominent strength and size being seen as a far more important characteristic
I also like to imagine that their extended periods of time in space together created a sort of mutual yet heavily repressed crush which neither of the bots ever really acknowledged, think of it as a technically one-sided situationship
Even though they didn't know eachother very well, what created that small spark in their partnership was Blurr being the one to finally show interest and validate Salvage's creativity; Salvage treated Blurr as a normal individual rather than some non-physical automatically praised idol.
They saw through one another, kindling a thin layer of comfort
Though, both had the impression that, after some time, they'll never have to see the other again, and move onto some different job or environment, hence them not exactly having a good relationship
During the whole caveman incident, I interpreted the scene of Blurr insisting they should stay behind in the ship as a sort of subconscious need to protect while in a foreign and potentially dangerous place
Even though they were barely acquaintances, the amount of time they had ultimately spent together, plus the dangers of the outside world, made Blurr come to the (honestly reasonable) conclusion that if they were going to be stuck, they should at least be stuck together
He couldn't bare to imagine the only bot who treated him like a living being get hurt or lost.
I think Salvage's stubbornness to help the cave people stemmed from him wanting to prove himself as something capable of being compassionate and helpful, rather than someone who is stuck following instructions or bound by quotas
He wanted to be the one to make a difference, not to be seen as a mindless tool only valuable for his strength
The juxtaposition between both mechs' motives created that unease, particularly for Blurr
If Salvage didn't care, then why should he
This is why Blurr tried to abandon him — the only mech he thought cared about him seemed to mirror those who had used him
If Salvage had no interest in their lives, then Blurr would rather be stuck with himself
Salvage's violent outburst was one born from heartbreak, he couldn't believe the one mech who valued him for his true self was so willing to pack up and pretend nothing had happened
Salvage was never a violent bot
If you were to ask him, he would have no idea why he lashed out physically
The fight served as (ironic) proof to Blurr that he was wrong about Salvage's motives, proving to him that the mech did actually care
Though he was still cautious
This was why he lied about what happened
He wanted to go back to the time before the situation just so he could live at peace and start again with the reassurance that Salvage's treatment was out of good nature rather than elaborate manipulation
Obviously, once Salvage regained his memory, Blurr's plan crumpled, but the welcoming nature of Earth and the Rescue Team helped them come to terms with the fact they had no choice but to stay on Earth
I also like to imagine that whilst Blurr and Salvage moved to the hangar (aka. the Training Centre) on Maine, there was a whole angsty apology scene off camera where, with nobody else to listen and judge, Blurr finally took off his confident facade and just straight up apologised to Salvage for everything: for not getting to know him enough before, for trying to hold him back, for running away and nearly abandoning him, for lying about what really happened and painting himself out to be the hero, everything. Just picture it with all the angsty quietness and shame and tears and everything
He was so sorry.
He also explained how badly he feared that their whole partnership was fake
Guess what, Salvage pulls an Ao3 hurt/comfort moment and they both FINALLY become vulnerable and real with eachother.
Salvage also has his moment, and apologises for hitting Blurr
(Pulling some angsty dialogue like my goat Chief from Isle of Dogs)
And so....
They both agree to start fresh and really take the time to get to know eachother
And then....... well....... they got to know eachother very well.............
They're also VERY CLEARLY the creators of Hoist like I don't even need to watch RBA for proof just LOOK AT HIM with your EYES there is NO CNA test NEEDED

They're the type of guys (in a human au context) to be your uncles, who your family never spoke of until they randomly showed up at your 12th birthday and have since then been part of your life but lowkey faze in and out of existence, who suddenly appear in your hallway at 7am sharp 💔 with power tools and ladders and all that shi like "oh hey sweetheart :)" "you're mom called us over cuz the bathroom light was playing up :)" "sorry if we woke you up :(("
Or they exist in a way where... I can't think of an exact word to describe it, but think of it as in they recharge smothered into eachother, they're like two werewolves
Like you could come to them in the middle of the night like "I threw up :(" or "I had a nightmare :'(" and without missing a beat they'd be like "oh no, poor thing :(" "poor baby :(" "Come here" and they'd both scooch over to make room in-between them and then when you get comfortable they just snuggle around you and give comforting rubs for the rest of the night
They hype eachother up
They match eachother's freak
They're strange...

While on Velocitron, there was a stigma surrounding the idea of forming a sparkbond with bot(s) who don't share a speedster frame, this was pushed heavily on Blurr considering he was the fastest, and having non-fast sparkmate(s) would ruin his legacy...
Now that he's away from all those expectations, he can enjoy his heavy-duty Conjunx in peace...
I imagine Cybertronians have a similar behaviour to cats where they scent mark a mate by rubbing their face against them

Salvage is very gentle and doesn't want to harm Blurr in any way so interfacing always takes ages (which is unironically good for teaching Blurr patience)
Blurr likes to get crushed, mostly while laying or recharging together (much to Salvage's concern, he doesn't put his full weight on him...)
