Take Harvard's cs50 without cs50 appliance
What is a cs50 appliance?
Ans: CS50 appliance is a Fedora OS virtual image. Which configured specially for new students and cs50 course. Which have some most needed tools like cs50.h (c library),clang,php,apache2,mysql installed.
That means we can configure our OS so we can take cs50 course painlessly.
I have a Ubuntu 13.10 machine and i configured it like this.
First, Install clang.
Open your terminal and type
sudo apt-get install clang
Next, install cs50 library
Goto https://manual.cs50.net/library/
And follow there manual.
Next one is to install Check50 which can be used to check if psets mets requirements.
check50 was written in Javascript so you will need to install NodeJs into your PC.
Trust me and execute this commands one by one in your termonal
sudo apt-get install git python-software-properties python g++ make
sudo apt-get-repository ppa:chris-lea/node.js
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nodejs
I like to keep check50 at my desktop so i done this.
cd Desktop
git clone https://github.com/cs50/check50.git
Now lets check if check50 works or not.
node '/home/nihan/Desktop/check50/SOURCES/opt/check50/bin/check50.js' 2014/x/pset2/vigenere '/home/nihan/Dropbox/pset2/vigenere.c'
Here i am telling node to run script at /home/nihan/Desktop/check50/SOURCES/opt/check50/bin/check50.js
My cs50 pset 2 which's code happens to be
2014/x/pset2/vigenere
And last one is my pset file path which is
'/home/nihan/Dropbox/pset2/vigenere.c'
I know i write bad, but hope it helps.
Things about PHP excites me
It's no secret that i don't love PHP as much as i do to Python,js or any other languages. Maybe because of reasons of this
Is it functional or OO?
Most of the PHP frameworks are OOP. But hey? all i can find in PHP doc is array_push()
I am sorry but i don't like this style.
Things that are being cool
HHVM : PHP to C++ code converting tool. It just makes PHP run like Beast!
LARAVEL : Framework that makes seance to me, Codeigniter is dead so last thing i love is this ;)
Yeah that's it. Hope PHP will get better
What python have that others doesn't have?
The answer is Its Flexibility.
Whether you are doing a simple test or a huge project Python fits perfectly. Reason i love python
Easy testing
Powerful debugging
Simple syntax
Clean code
Django! ( Awesome web framework that i can not ignore )
Big user community
pip ( modules for everything )
Changing some path
As in my beginning stage of programming i started off with VB6. Not knowing where to start or HOW THE FUCK THIS HAPPENED? It was like a magic suite. Now i think i know most of the basic stuff of programming. And i know that i don't work well being in Back door . Maybe that's a reason i like web developing so much. I learned How things works by Watching Harvard CS classes in videos. And this year i will attend CS50 via Edx. As i decided I wont program in my collage time i think its time to switch off some lights. Like
Node.Js
C#
Ruby
All of those are awesome but in this season i want to learn more about Algorithm , Cryptography and some other stuff. With that maybe its Bye bye to Node , Ruby and welcome to C,Java or whatever my classes are! 2013 sucks! Hope i will have a wonderful 2014.
NOT LEAVING PYTHON
I just love Python!
Google I/O 2009 - The Myth of the Genius Programmer
One of the best videos i seen, They were success! They are hurting me
why do you think you deserve to be one of the top mig33 pc tools developer? -m1guser

Programming language you should learn in 2014
2013 is almost over. Its a new year coming. Out tech landscaping is changing faster then ever. So, If you want to be a part of it where should you start?
C She is the mother of all languages. By learning C you will have a Rock Solid knowledge into Programming. Also its just cool to know how advanced stuff really works.
Java The most popular modern language! You can make almost anything with this. From Desktop to Server to Mobile. What else do you want? Also have the biggest developer community for help!
C++ He is the beast. Want to make something powerfull? Like game? Learn this and you will never regret it. He also have one of the biggest developers community. C++ 11 is the thing in my eyes.
Javascript I know most of the people will argue on Why i put JS in this top position? Answer is simpleJavascript is sexy You can make cool website, Windows Desktop application, In browser games, Cross platform mobile app (Via phonegap API), Manage server side works with Nodejs. Like it or not Javascript is taking over the world.
Python Simple syntax, Powerful language. Just remember this. Python is meant to look nice and powerful at same time. With frameworks like Django to Flask surly He is awesome!
PHP The most popular web language. meant to run in server. Easy to make website. That's it. I can't say more good things.
DO NOT LEARN PROGRAMMING BY THERE RUN TIME. LEARN PROGRAMMING WITH CURIOSITY. ALWAYS ASK HOW THIS HAPPENED??
This is just my own personal opinion.
What's yours?
The best programming language in 2014
Here is the Top 10 programming language's indexed in Trobe
C
Java
Objective-C
C++
C#
PHP
Visual Baisc
Python
SQL
JS
And i wasted my whole 2013 year by looking at this chart and wondering what should i learn?
And finally I realized All we have to learn is how computer works and some basic stuff.
Reason for my view
I have shuffled this CS thing for more then 2 years and in this time i have same for awesome commercial software with Visual Basic. I made some wordpress theme for me (HTML,JS,CSS,PHP) and also a QA website like Yahoo answers.
After my https://www.coursera.org/ LTP course i have learned Python and Django. While doing another course i learned Ruby.
After all this i leaned that "They are all same with different name and style"
All of those language had
Variable
Array
function
Objects
lambda
So what's up with this language war?
Who counts as a good programmer?
Tonight i was wake up all night long. And searched all the around for answer. Results are pretty same.
inventor
thinker
worker
loner
All above by definition of good programmer is
A good programmer is a person who can think the right way to solve problems while they are drunk.
A programmer doesn't have to be an expert on any Single or Malty language but he have to know how to solve problems the way machine can understand clearly and quickly.
Who the hell maintains Javascript?
Ok,
This question s obvious. Some days ago i was teaching one for my cousin the basic of web development after sometime he asked me Who built js?
Here is the answer
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), founded in 1994, is an international consortium dedicated to "lead the web to its full potential", which it does by developing specifications, guidelines, software, and tools.
W3C Stands for the World Wide Web Consortium
W3C was created in October 1994
W3C was created by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the Web
W3C is organized as a Member Organization
W3C is working to Standardize the Web
W3C creates and maintains WWW Standards
W3C Standards are called W3C Recommendations
Source : http://www.w3schools.com/web/web_standards.asp
And NodeJs is maintained by nodejs.org
One of my best buddy is making me listen this over n over. Im not a fan of Hindi songs though!
Got'a say, Good truck
