People who have only seen the how to train your dragon movies: you have no idea how insane the books get

- The later books are mostly about slavery. Hiccup was enslaved for a whole book - Dragons are almost all sapient beings with their own language that only hiccup speaks - Some of the dragons are like eldrich gods that can see the future, have telepathy and live for centuries - Alvin the treacherous has attempted genocide many many times - Hiccup spends an entire book with a poisonous fang lodged in his arm; the dragon it came from tracks him down and tries to kill him - Hiccup has killed dragons while being swallowed by them multiple times - Detailed descriptions of how certain dragons will murderise anything they touch - The dragon guarding one specific maguffin was a nightmare creature that had giant periscope hands with eyes on each finger that it used to see things on the surface of the desert then grab them and pull them down, then it preserves its meals by covering them in sand and melting it into glass - Snotlout was shot in the chest with an arrow and died - Toothless is a tiny baby dragon with no teeth but also one of the god dragons - Hiccup’s mum has tried to kill him at least once - The dragons declare war on humankind.  - I can’t find the full lyrics of the dragons’ war song but one of the lyrics is “run red your claws with human blood”
