Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe, with a history of over 7,000 years. It is located at the meeting point of the Sava River and the Danube River, making it a strategic location throughout history.

Belgrade was inhabited by prehistoric cultures and later became an important settlement of the Celts, who named it Singidunum. It was then conquered by the Romans and became a Roman fortress.

Over the centuries, the city was fought over by many empires, especially the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, changing hands multiple times.

In the 19th century, Belgrade became the capital of modern Serbia, and later it was the capital of Yugoslavia. Today, it is the capital of Serbia and an important cultural and historical center in the Balkans.
