I know many of you came for Kacchako, but stick around for Zutara! Iâve started a new aged-up mid-war Zutara fic focused on the Blue Spirit/Painted Lady dynamic. Find it here!
hello! it's the person who asked you about writing fanfiction in a previous ask! i just wanted to say thank you for all the advice. i wrote and posted a small one shot and it was actually kinda well received and it got me writing again and i'm feeling good and motivated and i just wanted to say thanks. so yeah, thank you :')
Good! Iâm so glad! Sometimes people look at me like Iâm crazy when I say that I think fanfic is an awesome way to learn, but I think that a lot of writers wouldnât be where they are today without it (even if they would never admit it).Â
hellooo ok so you said that you were writing ur own stories and trying to move on from fanfiction. iâve started to write fanfiction (mainly because i want to force myself to write again) but iâm afraid it will make things worse for own stories because my imagination is already terrible and im bad at world building and just most of that stuff would you have any tips for this like things i should avoid doing idk who to ask sorry :-( anyway, i love your writing :) hope ur doing well !!
I actually think fanfic is a great way to practice! I got into writing in the first place because of fanfic and grew from there. With fanfic, you can immerse yourself in someone elseâs world/characters and get a feel for what those things are like and how they should work before delving into creating your own. Itâs an awesome stepping stone and you can learn SO MUCH by studying someoneâs else creations in this way.
I would focus on how you can learn from others rather than being worried about it affecting your own world negatively. When youâre working on a fanfic, take the time to truly study the world and the characters and how everything works together to create a story. Be analytical about it and find what you like and what you donât like in the world, then use those lessons as you go into your own stories. Focus less on the facts of a given world and more on the general feel and how it works, if that makes sense.Â
Itâs okay to look to other works for inspiration. Without Gandalf, there might be no Dumbledore, for example. BUT think about all the ways in which they are alike and different. If you find something you like in someone elseâs work, mold it until it becomes your own.
Thereâs a famous saying âGood artists borrow, great artists steal,â and I think this is very true with writing. Itâs okay to find something you like and recycle it, but you have to make it your own. You have to change it and make it fit into what youâre doing. You have to play with it until it becomes a style of your own. Once youâve done that, youâll realize that it probably isnât much like the original thing you liked at all, but itâs probably better because itâs yours.
I guess the overall point Iâm trying to make is that you canât be a good writer without reading/watching/learning from others. Itâs just like drawing or painting or anything else. You can practice by looking at someone elseâs stuff (or writing a story with someone elseâs world and characters) and that practice will then help you develop your own style/world/etc. Donât be afraid to use fanfic as a way to practice. I think itâs wonderful.

I was just wondering is there a reason why you discontinued two black dots? I understand that circumstances might have made it so I just wanted to know for sure cause I came across your fan fiction and I love it
Thank you! Yes, unfortunately, the fandom in general turned out not to be a great place for me. There are tons of AMAZING people in it and lots of people that Iâm so glad I got to know, but for me the drama and the hate, etc. etc. kind of wore me down. So I wonât be finishing TBD. There is this post on my Twitter detailing generally how I planned to end it, if youâre interested in that! And I am working on original works as well that I plan to post about in the future.Â
loved two black dots! i love the way you write :) it feels so real and the story is amazing đ i donât know if youâre planning on finishing it but do you have any fic recs for kacchako because iâm dying for some more well written slow burn
Thank you so much! I honestly have no plans for finishing it, but Iâm working on original works at present alone and with @nessascribbles so hopefully I will be able to give more info about those in the future! I can tell you now they will likely be mature YA fantasy (so like 17+).
As for fic recs, Iâm afraid I havenât read Kacchako fic in a LONG time, so I couldnât give recs based on my own opinion, unfortunately. Iâve heard great things about many writers, including EmeraldWaves, KarmaHope, and megwritesfanfiction, but I also feel like theyâre probably the ones that everyone recommends so Iâm sorry that I couldnât be more helpful! And Iâm also sure there are tons more that I havenât heard about because I havenât been very involved in the fandom in a LONG time.

â Weâre proud to announce the winner of Seroâs Birthday Giveaway!â
Thank you @houseofneri, awesome job!
And a thank you to everyone who participated and shared. Weâre so happy to have received all your pieces. Choosing a winner was difficult, but this one wowed us in concept and composition!Â
Stay tuned as weâll be sharing the other entries since they were all amazing!
No hate, but I know you said youâd get back to regular posting of SMD but I also noticed the new projects like the Got fanfic (loving it so far!) just wondering if regular SMD is still a priority or we can expect chapter to be posted less regularly. Sorry to bother just really love your writing xx
Unfortunately @nessascribbles and I have left the Kacchako/BNHA fandoms with no current plans of returning. We made a long joint post on twitter as that is where weâve both been more active. SMD has been officially discontinued and is labeled as such. Weâre very sorry to see the fic go and weâre sorry to all those who enjoyed it, but our hearts just havenât been in the fandom for a long time now and we knew we needed to move on to other projects or risk losing the writing spark entirely.

Weâve begun a new project!
Like many of you, we were disappointed by the rushed, often out of character ending given to the show, so we we decided to write our own version. The problems can be traced all the way back to the point where George R. R. Martinâs books ended and the showrunners had to write everything themselves. This is not to say that they didnât do some great things, but they set a lot into motion in season 6 and we want to take it our own way. We are extremely excited and have put a lot of work and effort into this project, wanting it to feel real, for stories and decisions to have weight and consequences. We will be focusing on many of the characters and exploring many new ideas. Beginning at the end of season five and moving forward along our own route, we hope to do these characters some justice. Check it out here!
New Game of Thrones Fanfic up! Hope you enjoy!
this was in the comments of my last todoroki / zuko comic. so i drew it because i thought it was kinda fun, thanks for the ideas guys! artists block has been creeping on me lately. @bottombakugou @young-il-long-kiyoshi
I started reading âStrip Me Downâ and loved the both of your writing skills and went to follow you on twitter and realized that youâd be taking a break from the fandom đ Iâm really sorry to hear that one person could ruin the experience of the fandom for you, and I hope you can find happiness again with it some day, but just know that you have fans supporting you no matter what it is youâre writing because the two of you are incredibly talented writers! đđ
Thank you so much! This is so sweet. đđ @nessascribbles and I have already starting planning fics for other fandoms (currently Marichat and Jily with more to come!) and some OC stuff, so we will keep you posted! Thank you again!
Fanfiction is becoming peopleâs primary form of entertainment right now because most media right now is so cheap, bland, recycled, and sponsored by people who love money more than the source material. Fanfiction is written for free by people who genuinely love what theyâre writing about. Thatâs why itâs better. Thatâs why itâs more satisfying. Fanfiction is a home-cooked meal made for yourself and for your friends. Media today is junky fast food spoiled by too much grease and the knowledge that the people producing it are being criminally mistreated and underpaid.Â
also because in fanfiction, most of the time, the author is writing it not to tell some specialimportant, life changing message, but to simply make people happy, to make themselves happy. there is no obligation to have a huge shocking dramatic twist, or to be super complicated, or to have some sort of âmoral.â fanfiction is primarily for enjoyment, written by people who are typically not getting paid for their work, by people who decided they wanted to spend time and write out more for these characters.
fanfiction is almost always made with the sole intent to be enjoyable to the readers, without any obligation to tell a true life, high stakes, morality tale.
*bawling* we are so fucking lucky
