saving these two in particular as they’re vital for key points, and then i have to force myself to work on things that actually pay the bills.

1. good to see she outright admits she projects this extremely detrimental mental health take as a result of a trauma she hasn’t properly processed. had long suspected that, but it’ll be useful to have it in her own words.

a final note, before i go: i often wondered if lily understood the inherent power dynamic she had with fans, and how that could impact her dating them. i wondered if she factored in how common it was for fans who dated their favorite creators to retain that rose-colored view that many fans inherently develop when they have a parasocial relationship.

a few people noticed i became inactive. this was in part intentional, so that i could step back from everything and have a clear perspective on the issues i saw with Lily Orchard when i kept tabs on her more problematic behaviors.

this was also in part due to being an essential worker during a pandemic, and some personal life events. as much as i value pointing out toxic influences, real life - and particularly, real health - must always come first.

that being said, i’m taking steps toward being able to upload a review of Lily’s content that’s as unbiased - but no less critical - as I can make it. i don’t expect to sway Lily or her friends’ mind on her behavior, but I want to know I gave as good an effort toward that goal as could be made.

having said that, i looked at her page for the first time in a couple of months, to see her reaction to the riots currently happening in the U.S. she is notorious for her poor takes on issues relating to people of color - particularly black people.

i thought to myself, before looking at her page, “I’ll bet she thinks Canada is immune to this”.

i’m not sure if i’m glad to see how little has changed.

here’s a shocking fact for Lily, before I talk about her proper in the coming weeks:

protests are happening in canada. police brutality is happening in canada.

your country is not free of racism, not free of black people, and not free of a corrupt political system that harms those people.

your privilege isn’t because you’re canadian. it’s because you’re not black.

i lied, a last note on the matter, because i am always genuinely flabbergasted at how completely unaware of herself lily can be:

good to know if it ... (squints at notecard) “sounds like something someone would do based on your assumptions of their character”, it’s definitely 100% proven and the totally hearsay story you were given must be actively DISproven, lest you believe it immediately!

good to know if people make assumptions about lily’s behavior, it’s totally true and valid, as long as they think it sounds like something she would do!

coincidentally, patchworkheart has heard about this, and released a public document offering plenty of counter evidence. it took me two seconds to look up their twitter and see that information.

lily is lazy and likes the excuse to be mad. that’s all that is.

came on to say one thing and one thing only, because it summarizes a consistent issue i’ve had with lily since i started following her as a fan:

here, she is given supposed information with no sources, no proof, nothing.

when this is done about her, she demands people “prove it”. when she discusses having issues with other people, she says “talk to them like adults”.

when it’s someone she doesn’t personally like?

it’s a presumptive, heavily ableist rant, based on nothing.

lily did not ask for proof, because she doesn’t care. this gives her an excuse to rant about patch, and specifically, to disparage patch’s supposed lack of mental healthcare (despite, as i have shown in the past, patchworkheart being very public about their current therapy treatment).

lily takes every excuse to rage at anyone who’s slighted her, no matter how imagined or secondhand the catalyst, while demanding people never assume anything of her.

that’s not normal.

and worse yet,

nearly everything lily says here goes for herself as well.

“somebody who dropped out of a psychiatry course really needs to stop talking like they’re a fucking expert”.

lily doesn’t have any sort of college education - she has said so publicly. patch made it further there than her. using patch dropping out of college as an insult is as much shitty, as it is a self-own. 

lily is no more qualified to speak on mental health than patch.

also, was it psychiatry? or psychology? because those are not the same field of study, and psychology is usually the one taught in entry degrees.

“patch needs to learn that being a patient is not license to start ... acting like an authority figure on the subject.”

lily has, herself, in her videos on toonkritic, cited her experience as a patient and someone with mental health issues as a means of her having more authority on the topic than someone who is neurotypical. 

(presuming the people in question were neurotypical in the first place, mind you).

if lily’s experience counts, so does everyone else’s.

“so much of their information was so bone-headed and wrong ...” lily is very often caught being factually incorrect in easily provable ways, particularly about mental health and social issues. she still thinks “ethnicity” and “race” mean the same thing, and you can learn the difference there in high school sociology.

also note the complete lack of examples. even if you’ve deleted someone from your server, it should be very easy to pull up a couple of screenshots. i wonder why she didn’t?

or is bullshitting based largely on personal projection only a bad thing when it’s other people doing it?

“Patch, get therapy. get on medication. quit getting drunk and high all the time ...”

presuming patch isn’t in therapy or on medication. presuming patch is still struggling with substance abuse - which is not something to use as an insult in the first place. this is ableism, and it’s vile.

what was that someone was saying about “heavily colored by their own fucking biases about an individual person”? because i’m seeing a lot of that here.

and with all that, i’m officially done logging screenshots of problematic behavior from her. i have enough to make my points.

if something egregious happens, i may make note of it here, but i will largely turn to focusing on wrapping things up. this was a bit of a dual “research and exposure” phase, but i think i’ve reached as many people here as i will, and i’ve got plenty direct quotes to work with.

i’m glad i could offer some real-time perspective on how often she displays uninformed or toxic behavior. i’m happy it could be of some help or comfort to those who felt she was off, but who had her toxic behavior normalized to them through her gaslighting.

i’ll update again soon. in the meantime, continue to warn people about her behavior in spaces she can’t control. she can delete asks and comments, so don’t bother with those.

she has a real problem with throwing around the word “addiction”, and severely negative perception of general fandom, from the looks of it.

i’ll have to be careful not to make assumptions here, but this is all good insight into why she rails so hard against “lore” and “world-building”.

not everyone wants cake, or a burger. some people can identify heavily with characters and actively partake in fictional works while still maintaining a healthy mindset. fiction can be an extremely powerful tool for healthy mental development, and challenging established worldviews.

i’m not sure she quite gets that, though she somewhat participates in it.

if she examined what she finds “fun”, she might find that it says a lot more about her than she’s considered.

of all the hills she can choose to die on, family guy is the one i’ve always found the oddest.

there are a lot of severely triggering things in family guy that any person could reasonably dislike it for. it makes a running gag of pedophilia, and glorified the pedophile character by making him a hero. in a star wars parody, ironically. 

why she excuses that, i’ll never understand. and why she feels a need to boil peoples’ complaints about hazbin hotel down to “a sweary show about weirdos” (what is this, riverdale?), i also don’t know.

i thought it was valid to dislike something, no matter how slight the grievance?

i agree that your friends need mental health care if possible. but what you’re doing is also wrong.

why do you have to phrase it as guilt-tripping questions where you make negative assumptions about them? i severely doubt their self-harm or suicidal tendencies are about that, and in speaking to them this way, you’re making it about you.

you could easily say, “i would be upset if you hurt yourself, i don’t want you to do that”, or “i don’t want to lose you, i care about you”. but a more appropriate response would be to focus on their feelings and help them through it.

ask them if they want you to help. ask how you can help. ask if they would let you try, if they’re in a severe situation. look up what other people recommend as tactics for those situations. 

most of the time, people are just looking for a little reassurance or encouragement.

instead, you’re gaslighting them into having a more negative perception of themselves. they will start to associate wanting to hurt themselves with wanting to hurt you, and spoiler: an already irrational brain is not going to react kindly to what feels like a validated reason for self-hate.

this is more likely going to make them not want to open up to you, rather than cause them to stop.

the fact lily encouraged this behavior is DISGUSTING, and i am so sorry to any friend she’s felt it was appropriate to behave this way toward.
