This is gonna be a long post of WIPs and stuff, bear with me if you want lol. This is gonna be about fanart for KPDH but nothing specific, its mostly a post about my process sofar. Feel free to read on if you'd like. I'm too busy with college to have normal finished pieces regularly, and I've gotten a bit self conscious about my art.
So I am currently hyperfixated on KPDH, specifically the Saja Boys, I'm not exactly sure why but thats not super relevant. When I am hyperfixated on something, my brain will just create scenes in my head, which is where my more specific and random hc posts come from. Its weird bc I'm not consciously deciding things but it's still my brain coming up with stuff from the media.
On that note, my brain decided to come up with an apartment for the Saja Boys so I decided I would sketch it on paper:
I have historically not been great with perspective, but this ended up pretty alright, so I decided I would turn it into a digital sketch and see how far it goes.
Firstly was just a basic digital version of what was on the paper:
Second was refining the sketch now that I had seen it digitally, and this step is always a mess, I dont erase I just draw over the lines:
Third was a further refinement plus I decided I wanted to add a conversation pit instead of the couch:
Fourth was where I make a secondary sketch in another color, previously with my digital art, things have been simple enough that this is the second step, but there were quite a few things to decide and alter with each step of this. I also expanded the canvas at this stage:
Fifth is the point I just finished, I altered a bit with the conversation pit and continually attempted to fix the angle of the island (the labels were there in other layers but I forgot to save them) but the main thing that I did was spent time making the angles of the walls and the floor and windows make sense, I color coded them and made them as neat as possible. I think this one looks the best sofar and I am pretty proud of it for what it is:
Thats all I have sofar, this has been several hours of work but I am learning and having fun, which is the most important thing. I am not sure if I'll ever finish this, especially beyond just lineart as I haven't experimented much with digital art and now I'm kinda jumping in headfirst. This post was super long and was basically a run-through of my steps in this project sofar. I am always curious what digital artists do to get their art the way it ends up, especially people that are new.
