Current Fic in Progress: As Above, So Below [Arcane] [Viktor x Male Reader] 18+

Hiiiii lovely people, I'm Ghost.

I'm a little new here, but in the spirit of the cold season vibes I wanted to share a fic I've been working on in case anyone was looking for a cozy/slow read that will speed up (and get a little dark) later on.

I'll post chapters on here gradually over time if there's interest, but here's everything thats published as of right now:

It's Viktor/Male Reader, so if that's not your jive no worries. Spoilers: it gets a little gay. (And super gay in chpt 10 👀)

Anyway.

Quick summary: After your parents are killed in a raid by the enforcers, you make your living by working as a barista and bartender along with some shady side hustles as Vander starts to prepare for an uprising. Viktor enters your chaotic life with a calm confidence that you're immediately drawn to. You find yourself spending more and more time with him as he preps for his admission into the Academy, but when the time comes for you to join the rebellion, your life takes an unexpected turn that neither of you are prepared for.

About the Reader [Y/n]: He/him pronouns, bi, vers, witty and still figuring life out even though he had to grow up relatively quickly. This is definitely a longer read, so if you're not into slow burns/gradual build up/etc., I'll be writing drabbles/one-shots later once I've developed a style that would fit that.

Also just a heads up: [Y/n] has a backstory/depth/history that impacts your interactions with Viktor as well as other characters. There's some OC tendencies in there, but this is in 2nd person POV so I'm not sure what to call it but just want to be transparent on that too. The only physical traits mentioned is that you have some muscles (bc plot/war/carrying kegs/etc.) and you're a smidge shorter than Viktor in the beginning (newbie mistake, you're also 18 at that time so plenty of time to grow if you're taller ayeee)

where did you go?

Hello! Iii actually got engaged and bought a house back to back and am finally moving out of our apartment as we speak 💀 we had a few projects to get the house updated and I’ve had to put a major pause on AASB apart from jotting blurbs or notes on the plot. I’m hoping to pick it back up after September when we’re more settled and things finally slow back down—I’ve really been missing writing outside of work and am looking forward to getting back into it/being online more again in general. I skim coated a ceiling instead of writing smut…devastating doesn’t even come close to how I feel rn lmao but we’re getting there one day at a time.

I love everything about this design!

It matches the aesthetic of the show super well with the belts and golden gears and stripes.

It matches Viktor's character design with the colours of the shirt being the maroons and greys of his academy uniform, and the overall silhouette being similar.

It matches zaun specifically by having the outfit clearly be handsewn or customised from old clothes, with visible repairs. As well as gender non-conforming presentation with the half-skirt and the longer hair framing his face, shown to be more accepted in Zaun.

It also tells a story about Viktor specifically in this AU, like how his open shirt suggests confidence in his appearance, but the way the half skirt covers his bad leg suggests insecurity.

Ik the song is about sa but the general vibe it gives reminds me of there struggle with their dad and not being able to speak up for themself and against their father in early childhood

It’s been slow moving for sure, I’ve gone back a couple times and rewrote some parts bc what I created with Covid/on NyQuil is wild lmao but it’s coming together bit by bit and I’ve been really happy with how the reader and V are navigating everything :) there’s some good teasing/fun but some soft and sweet moments too. Writing the actual smut is fun, hard to do in public though 💀 so writing at the coffee shop or the gym has been off the table for a bit lmao

But I ended up naming the chapter ‘Hubris’ for a particularly spicy line from Viktor so hoping folks like it when I can actually get the poor thing ready

Also I absolutely see that song for the reader too—there’s a line about his invertebrate doppelgänger in reference to all these types of birds that kill their prey by breaking their spines that just has a chokehold on me. Lyrical masterpiece 🧡 the reader’s dad is such a hard character to write, I feel like all of us queer kids had at least one parent or guardian just throw us through the ringer and not bat an eye at the impact it had. Not super bad spoilers but the reader is going to look more and more like him as he gets older and it’s going to fuck with him a little bit while he figures out wtf he’s doing with his life. He’s unfortunately a really good shot :(

Oh! I had a song pop up on my feed last week too that gave me reader vibes/that you might like :) it’s called Start Again by The Hunts, loved the lyrics and the entire vibe.
