you need to get to the other side of a valley, it has a view you'd prefer, maybe the timber is nicer, maybe you just want a change, maybe something bad happened on your side of the valley. So you set off down the hill, some bits are steeper, some not so much, maybe there are some bits of loose rock, you fall and scrape yourself but you keep going, maybe you find a few people going the same way as you so you help each other out. You make it to the bottom and now its time to head back up the other side, but perhaps you need a rest, or need to find a better path, or perhaps find any way through at all, but you press on, tracking your way up the hill, maybe half way up is good for you, this is where you want to stay, maybe you want to go up right to the top, maybe the base of the valley was perfect. its much harder work getting up the hill but very rewarding once you find your place.
Now perhaps you come across someone hiking the other way, up the side of the valley you just came from. seems odd since of course the side they just came from seems so much better, but they are thinking just the same thing, they left their side for just the same reasons, and they have to do nearly the same journey as you, just on the other side, so you can relate to their experience, maybe you can share knowledge about the sides of the valley you came from, hazards, good scavenging spots, etc etc.
You dont start attacking each other and fist fighting and shouting because of how stupid they are for going to that side of the valley. Or claiming that theyre evil for doing so. or claim that, because you can relate to them, surely they must be going the same way as you.
maybe someone grabbed hold of others on the mountain as they began to fall, to try and stabilise themself, and dragging those people down and hurting them, they probably regret it, that doesnt mean they didnt make the journey. maybe someone dies along the way, maybe it was too hard to keep going, maybe they were killed by someone, maybe there was a rockfall that crushed them. they were still making the journey.

Recently, you cannot access Gooseworx's blog anymore, and people thought she deactivated her Tumblr. However, she was actually banned.
When someone deactivates their main blog, a string of numbers and letters is attached to their username: "-deactivated[year][month][day]"
When you look at posts made by Gooseworx, there's no "deactivated" and no numbers
Some speculate that this might have been a sideblog, since there's no "deactivated" string if you delete a sideblog, but it was her main blog. You can't use sideblogs to like posts. If you search "Gooseworx liked this" on google, you will find proof ithat she liked multiple Tumblr posts.
All of this adds up to one thing: Gooseworx was banned from Tumblr. And why? Gooseworx is a trans woman, and Tumblr staff hates trans women and bans them for no reason, and also, there is an ongoing harassment campaign against Gooseworx, so I bet they must have mass-reported her blog and gotten her banned.
Fuck the "tadc critical" community, anyone in the "anti tadc" or "anti gooseworx" tags is NOT to be trusted!!!!!! They weaponized staff's transmisogyny to ban a successful trans woman off the platform all because the show didn't end the way they wanted it to.
I watched the last episode of TADC and I *need* to talk about Jax.
TADC Chapter 9 spoilers ahead, so, be warned or something
I hate Jax. I despise her. And the fact that her coming out story is so very similar to my own makes me hate her even more. I was straight up having flashbacks of the night I had to tell my mother I was trans, it felt like Jax was narrating what happened to me, I was staring away from the screen looking at the floor and if felt like I was there with her (which, now that I think about it after the fact, speaks wonders on how the show handled immersion).
But that's why I can't feel pity for Jax at all. She shared an intimate detail about her life and then pretty much made it Ribbit's problem so hard girlie abstracted.
Jax is in pain and because she's in pain, she's incredibly cruel. Within that flashback I counted Jax gaslighting Ribbit at least four times.
The worst part is that I understand all of it, but I've met at least three Jax's in my life who would do the exact same. My empathy shifted from Jax to Ribbit as soon as Kaufmo knocked on the door and she put up the wall again. Jax is trans, she's in pain, and she's also abusive. And then she apologizes when it's too late. She feels more like a cautionary tale than anything. I Saw the TV Glow all over again.
I don't have a fancy conclusion to make about this or a positive note on the character itself. Jax is showing what, to me, is one of the saddest trans experiences to have. And my heart goes out to anyone dealing with that.
First and foremost I think we can all agree that Jax is trans. Just overlooking the subtext that has become text of the series (Glitch Productions, 2026), Gooseworx (2026) confirmed it in a post. Anecdotally Iâve seen queer spaces take in Jax as the next trans person in their roster. What is noticeable is that in those spaces (that are full of trans people) they all use she/her pronouns for her (me included). Though they donât mention her much. Itâs a weird show. I canât blame them. Still I want to talk about her with people. Where else to go than TADC communities?
Those who have done the same journey know what comes next. Hereâs a comment I found that shows it for the unaware. âyeah because watching the episode and showing jax with a pink bow blushing automatically equals in everyoneâs head heâs transđ€Ąâ (meowtactical, 2026). Please donât attack any specific accounts, this one already has -1 karma. To be honest the post infuriates me on multiple accounts. Most people probably know why though so Iâll move on.
What I want to ask is why people think that and why it pulls on me so much.
The people against trans Jax
Iâve looked into arguments against Jax and I really found one main argument against trans Jax:
Not Enough Proof
While that argument is slightly irrational (Gooseworx, 2026) I canât help but understand why they have it. These arenât people who have a large understanding of the trans experiences. âGod you look stupidâ (Glitch Productions, 2025) resonates with my trans experience greatly. A cis person watching that scene might not get it as much. Thereâs a reason âDaisy Theoryâ became a popular theory after that episode. A lot of trans people related with her and drew conclusions.
I must add though that I am interpreting people kindly here. Iâm sure plenty of them are just transphobic, but those arenât the people Iâm trying to get through to. So if youâre a cis person who doesnât feel like they âgetâ trans Jax, then I highly recommend you check out a trans person's understanding of her. Or even better if you know a trans person you can ask them directly. Just remember to keep an open mind.

Though that doesnât explain why I get so infuriated by people who use he/him for her. Jax is not a person, she is a fictional character, Gooseworxâs doll as she said. Gooseworx (2026) wanted to tell this story of trans Jax. To then claim that Jax isnât trans isnât registered as an attack on the character, but on transgender people and their experiences. âJax canât be trans because she is meanâ has the subtext of âif youâre mean youâre not allowed to be transâ
I think the trans community has had enough to deal with. Why give them more?
I know there might be cis people reading this that have said things like that. Iâm gonna say that yeah, that was a messed up thing to say. But to err is human; to forgive divine (Pope, 1711). If you want to improve there are people that can help you.

Jax is trans. Some people accept that and some donât. We can hope people come to terms with this.
Genuinely, nothing has pissed me off like the way the TADC fandom as a whole is behaving like a summer camp full of big mouthed, privileged, spoiled, Veruca Salt-level entitled petulant little actual first graders, and I only started watching the show the day before ep 9 dropped. Which says A LOT (and by a lot, I mean YOU DONâT GET HOW SPECIAL this level of anger is for me, because not only have I been in one of the worst bouts of anhedonia any of my doctors have ever seen for over a year now, I have had people actually try to kill me for being queer, and I spent an entire year going across the state giving a speech on it and just how upset it made me, and thatâs just ONE thing. I havenât been âonâ social media as a whole in over a year due to extreme health conditions that left me so bedbound and exhausted I could only leave my house once a week, and THIS of all things brought me out of that little online reclusion) about how genuinely fucking repugnantly, repulsively deplorable some of you people who claim to be âalliesâ truly make me feel of you. I saw a video by Quinnamon (they genuinely have no bad takes I love them) saying basically Jax is a realistic, cautionary tale about how internalizing transmisogyny and not accepting yourself can hurt you and the ppl around you, and while i agree and have a new perspective on Jaxs story, I ALSO THINK that because
these things are never brought up in TADC by any of the characters
we spend so much time throughout the series following Jax and focusing on her but not really how she affects the people around her (Gangles minor arc that was solved in 1-2 episodes doesn't count imo)
she had MULTIPLE chances to change/attempt to change considering she's likely been in the circus for YEARS. Jax at NO point in the story has a "two steps forward, three steps back" thing happening. this isn't someone who wants to heal fucking up, these are REPEATED, PURPOSEFUL acts of violence and cruelty towards the people (disproportionately WOMEN) around her.
it gives the impression the narrative forgiving her. she's an abuser who we're supposed to have sympathy for and forgive because what? she struggled with internalized transphobia/misogyny and didn't regret anything until it was too late? everything she lost was her fault, her pain self-inflicted; this is another point of Quinnamons, but in contrast to his points I'd argue because of her acknowledgement of this at the end with Pomni running to her, the narrative is infact framing this as "untrue" and that's where the issue lies.
sooo long story short transfemmes are awesome AND are allowed to be bad ppl in fiction but I don't think TADC portrayed this well at all.
rebutle/response wtv wtv, just a few details i disagree on that i think make a big difference.
Just because you can't forgive someone, doesn't mean they shouldn't have a chance for redemtion, and, while I suppose these aren't particularly well spaced from our perspective, jax does have a 2 steps forward, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12 steps back, with ribbit. If it was just the internalised transphobia n misogyny then it would be quite ridiculous but theres also the whole she thinks she killed her mother thing. And she continues taking steps back because she's already got the ball rolling, until pomni arrives. with pomni around she does start taking steps forward, 3 steps forward 5 steps back, 7 steps forward 11 steps back, peaking her progression back forward id say around the end of the gun episode where shes genuinely getting along with pomni. from here on it is a downwards spiral with like, one half a step forward when pomni asks her to make sure she still exists when she comes back. right before we cut till after she abstracts she seems like shes about to start walking forward again but decides not to. All of this is very much exagurrated, while there is certainly someone wearing the "im stupid" hat shirt sign and pins /ref, it is meant to be extreme since "Everythings more fun when you play it out in extremes".
She is a horrible person who did excusable acts because of some horrifying things. She was terrible all the way until the end, but she takes a huge leap at the end. Yes she wanted to get worse until it was too late but she did want to get better. She took a huge step forward but if ur counting youll realise she is still very far behind, so yes she shouldnt be forgiven or excused for her actions but hopefully you can at least understand how it happened.
tldr: she was genuinely terrible and shouldnt be forgiven just like that but she also shouldnt be barred from being able to improve. She is very tragic but also was a terrible person and wanted to be until the end, but she would have improved if given one more chance, I believe.

Jax is transfem, first and foremost. Sure she could be transfem enby of some kind, probably not fluid but i suppose it works, wtv wtv. But she is transfem, there is no argument there.
I am glad she abstracted like that, its so fucking sad that she never got to be herself, but it's a good message, I have mixed feelings on whether her returning would be good or not, consequenses and all, but being able to see a prominent male character be able to live as her true self would also be amazing, even if just in promo material and shorts.
please take this with an ocean of salt but i have a feeling gooseworx may have said you can use any pronouns in order to avoid being killed with hammers by the unfortunately large toxic part of the fandom, alongside with the closet being complicated. speaking from my own experience, my pronouns are she/they but irl, in practice, they are he/they because i dont feel safe enough to be out yet. My pronouns are NOT HE/THEY/SHE, they are SHE/THEY, but he is used in situations where I am closeted. i know i might be biased but i think its a similar situation.
continuing with that, however. I am out to my immediate family, they are supportive on paper, however my dead name and he/him pronouns are more familiar and comfortable for them, so they all still use them. This Isn't Pleasant.
Using he/him pronouns for Jax bc "oh but im so used to using he/him so, ill just keep using it bc i dont wanna make myself uncomfortable :(((" is genuinely just transphobic. "I felt such a close connection with him as a man, he felt like a friend", would you do the same if your long time male best friend bro buddy dude came out as transfem? bc its more comfy? (this goes all the other ways too, for transmascs n enbies n all the others).
Using he/him because the closet is confusing and talking about the past is fine, everything in the past that called her he/him is fine, but doing it for your own personal comfort isn't.
You cannot headcanon Jax as transmasc without being reductive to her and without completely missing the point of her character. headcanoning Jax as transmasc just makes it seem like being trans makes you a horrible person to your AGAB, or being taught your AGAB is inferior via misogyny or misandry, will make you trans, both of which, I'd say, are very problematic.
Yes we are all just playing with dolls but headcanons are adding to someone else's dolls, and no one likes it when someone takes your toys n tells you you are playing with them wrong, these are gooseworx's dolls, not yours, your dolls are AU fanfics and art, if you want transmasc jax, please by all means, write that, draw it, those AUs are yours to command, but dont mess around with goose's.

Jax is definitely my favourite character now, she is a horrible person who did horrible things, but it was for horrible reasons that weren't her fault. She knew what she was doing, always.
She knew she was an asshole, she knew what she did hurt others, she knew it would drive them to the brink and beyond. She always knew, and she still did it, entirely on purpose.
She did it because she hated herself, she didnt think she was worthy of love. She did it because she was scared, if you dont think you are worthy of love, and someone seems to love you, that means surely there must be an ulterior motive. So she pushed ribbit away, she pushed and pushed until Ribbit pushed back, Ribbit wanted to care for Jax.
Put her arms around her.
Jax pushed back with all her might.
The sequence of Pomni running to Jax beside the lampost, I cannot think of Jax's words without crying. I cannot count how many times I have heard those exact words said to me by others. I'm just lucky I could reply before.
