So starting from chapter 21 when grian died, oh my goddd

I was convinced that Scar would die first and grian would give in to his suicidal thoughs from when he was on the sand cliff

Then after scar and grian make it out of a horde infested store alive. The worst happens

"He'd grown complacent, and now scar was suffering for the consequences of it."

A quote that sadly summarizes a large percentage of the fic

Thennn

"He knows the blood seeping from his shoulder hasn't come from a gunshot."

"I love you, scar"

"'I love you,' he adds, and it feels so easy to say now that he wonders why he ever struggled with it before."

It's oddly poetic how in his effort to help and aid scar he had to leave him behind. I took his own death for him to admit to him faults, for him to help scar, for him to say he loves scar, and it feels like I'm supposed to forgive grian, BUT HE STILL HASNT APOLOGIZED! he barely acknowledged his cheating.

It's very purposeful that I drew him dying in the desert instead of the woods.

I do wonder if the trio could every stumble upon him while they explore ghost towns

22 FUCKING SCHLAT?! I understand that this schlat is not even all that close to the one I know and love from dsmp! Era, but still. Schlat?!?! I have never watched his day z streams nor another zombie content from any dsmp people (mainly ref Tommy's and Charlie's vids) so I have no clue who Aubry, Mosin man, Paul, or any other people from that reference so to me they end up coming off as oocs but they have clear intentions and I love how they give scar his turn to use his salesman voice. Anywayyy

I enjoy the vibes of schlat joking with scar's pc ass

They fit in the weirdest way and I still get thrown off seeing schlat on my tumblr feed from the chapter banners

The sudden kidnapping was fun and I can't wait for scar to randomly start using his legs and firearm skills to kill 3 guys then feel guilty asf just cause "Oh God I killed unzombie people oh noooo"

Anyway in general, I love how this fic is turning out and feel my heart shatter for scar every update and fear for my life when I see lock n key post anything regarding the plot

i feel like one big difference in how mumbo engages with hermitcraft vs how other big successful hermits engage with it is that a lot of the hermits have settled into mcyt as a day job, whereas mumbo makes consistent efforts to grow from it. tango with his 15 years experience as a game dev, cubfan the published astrophysicist, etc., for many if not most of the hermits, being a cc full-time was a deliberate choice they made that involved leaving behind a previous job. in skizz or joe's case, it's smth they worked a long time to achieve. cc!mumbo is a lot younger and has all these other ambitions he hasn't explored yet. and at that age with those artistic skills, who wouldn't want to try and leverage their platform for other things, right?

there's a very different vibe watching mumbo vs. watching hermits who clearly plan to be full-time hermits as long as they're able

the in-character result is a very absent c!mumbo and a lot of really fucking sad grumbo interactions. kill me now forget the cactus ring, the desert i'm stuck in is sahara

1. Grian would be EVE bc he can fly, he's under big corporation (watchers), and sonic boom and cause he makes thingies go boom

2. Mumbo is walle be he is redstone, silly goose can have a movable mustache, and he would hella vibe with the little cockroach (which I changed into a moth cause moth ball)

3. Watchers aren't nessicarily evil gods, but they're just BnL (big n large, the main corpate company in the movie). There are more "grian"s, but main g have a conscience cause yk movie sense

4. The plant is like a potatoes or smth? I drew it thinking it'd be a potatoes cause reference to Sahara, potatoes mumbo, and also they have eyes on them (like to grow) but idk how to draw it well? Might draw later tbh

AHHH CHAPTER 17 HURTTTT

Major spoilers below cut (just my thoughts on chpt 17 and 18 of TAMN)

AHHHHH I'm not going to lie, I think this is one of the best interpretations of grians charater, but specifically double life grian

He hurts people, his traps give him his original desire, but also result in horrible consequences that he didn't worry about before hand

Him denying that zombies are even sort of human and quackity litteraly being bit is so painful, especially after the second read through

I love how scar just CANT leave grian, like yes boo you're in the most toxic "relationship" ever and its beautiful

I especially loved the trio leaving (hint hints nudge nudge) and scar just refusing to acknowledge g until night time

Andddd that leads us to the drawing!

I'm a huge fan of aus and the idea of character's fate/destiny and the idea that some where out there grian is sitting looking at the same stars, with scar in a sleeping bag next to him, but they are happy, and on a camping trip together ❤️

ALSOO (spoilers for chpt 18)

I love how realistic grians fear (anxiety??) Leads him into some extreme self sabotage bc it's so relatable. Not staying that anything he did was right or reasonable, but it's so real! Saying things you might now even mean just because you can't stop yourself, not wanting to hurt someone by being with them, but being too jealous and selfish to let them go, DENYING A MURDER ATTEMPT AND SOMEONE'S HUMANITY JUST FOR YOUR OWN SATISFACTION!!! quackity and the trio shouldn't have hidden the bite, but grian should never have left him to die

Anywayyyy back to my little fan art, I love the tension and lack of connection we've circled back to and I don't doubt we won't see atleast a tiny relapse in grians character development later in this wonderful fanfic. Hope yall enjoy!! @uhohbestie
