America's Next Top Model: Cycle 4 (2005)

I just finished watching this cycle. It is the most familiar in my memory. Maybe that's why I think it's the most iconic..but also SO problematic. Ugh. ANTM was THE best reality competition televsion show back in the day. The girls were so not polished and the most of the photoshoots were awful. Tyra's iconic outburst to perpetuating storylines of girls gaining weight. Cycle 4 would never fly in today's politcally correct, body positive, ultra sensitive environment. The most shocking episode is episode 5, "The Girl Who Is Contagious". Michelle, finds out she has impetigo on her face and all of the girls ostracize her...it's a lot...and also shows how simple and silly life could get before you could just hop on google and figure out what was wrong. Later in the episode the girls have to do a photoshoot for a 'Got Milk?' ad (throwback, right?) Anyways, the catch of this shoot is they have to pose as someone of a different ETHNICITIES!!!! Literally black girls turning asian, mixed girls getting painted dark brown, and white girls sporting afros. It was bad. No one even batted an eye. It would never fly today...Cycle 4 was wild.

Quarantine Made Me Do It

Tumblr. I’m so surprised you are still here! I tried to get into the tumblr world when I was a teenager, but I honestly didn’t get it at the time. At first glance, it gives me the vibe that if Instagram, Twitter, and Pintrest all had a baby, it would be tumblr...or maybe it’s the other way around? 

So why am I here? That’s a great question. I think it’s time I channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw and start writing. I sure do have the time now, huh. Gosh, I’ve always wanted to just sit down at a computer and start writing...I’m doing it ha! That wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. I have so many thoughts and stories running through my head. Sometimes I think they are worthy enough to say out loud, but most of the time I think them and then they are gone. Maybe it’s because I’m too shy to say what I’m thinking out loud out of fear of being judged. I guess that’s also why I’ve never written them on the internet. These days it feels like you can’t say something without being completely right or completely wrong. There’s no neutral place anymore. I just want a place where I can write my opinion and not be judged. So, here we are. 

Quarantine made me do it..no...I wanted do this. I was watching “Mrs. America” tonight on Hulu and it inspired me to do something that will inspire me. Relating starting a blog to the feminist movement? Yeah I am. What about it? Here we go!
