it's worth noting that this scene specifically points out even if human don't think their deeds habour malice, they can still feel guilty. these two emotions are separable yet Macht has always grouped them together and thought he would feel them both at the same time in a fashion very similar to animals imprinting just because the old priest called him so and Glück also told him they come hand in hand (mind you this is from Glück's personal experience and in respond to Macht's question which already grouped up malice and guilt, so it's pretty subjective)
that is to say, the stone bracelet indicating Macht didn't bear malice doesn't neccessary mean there's also no guilt. this ambiguity feels like the bracelet's role in the narrative isn't to tell us "He didn't feel anything at all", rather, decidedly only "He had no malice". Macht turned out "less demonic", not in the expected "his newly earned feelings would activate the bracelet and kill him", but in a way as if to tell the that yes demons are destructive and that's indeed unacceptable by human moral, but in a fair sense they are not an evil race.
now on whether Macht felt guilt or not though, i actually not very persuaded he did...? mostly because he didn't actually destroy something he treasured. the existence of the unaffected teacups means he didn't commit to transmute a symbol of his relationship with Glück into gold. "I am presumably attached to this life at Weise as someone who has lived here for the past 3 decades should be, yes ruining this city obviously means ruining something I care about. *teacups come to mind* Oh wait I won't ruin them, because Glück liked them", do u guys see the flaw in his reasoning here 😭 he went through this train of thought and didn't realize he was making the teacups an exception bc he treasures something about them. and why the hell would what Glück liked matter in his spare-nothing-to-feel-malice-and-guilt destruction, doesn't that sound more like he came up with a reasonable explantion as Glück's servant since he himself can't comprehend the set of teacup is their relationship to him?
so in conclusion he didnt feel guilt cause he's unable to pinpoint what exactly in these 30yrs matter to him and ruin it correctly. something something although he thought he's ready to give up everything to gain understanding, he in fact didn't at last min due to his nature. the other time a similar process happened was when he's running away but this time he has reflected on himself, and that brought him back to Glück. peak character development and truly poetic.
