What happend with your blog? Why? I really liked it.
Thank you! But it was time to move on. Magda, who runs Olivia Jean Fan Club on Tumblr and Facebook, is much more diligent about updating than I ever was. I still support Olivia, though, and I will always be against the bullying of her (and others). Thanks again, and take care. :)
Infidelity and backstabbing her female friend and bandmember are just antifeminist. Anti women. People have issues. Get some therapy OJ. Her music and lyrics are sub par. Basic. Why celebrate mediocrity?

How about we ask this question? Why does it matter so deeply to everyone all the time? Why does it control everyone’s lives, why does it drive the fish up the stream in this group of fans? Why does it eat away at everyone? Can everyone handle the idea of not knowing for sure? Can everyone just lean back in their chairs and just have the existential thought that “Wow, none of this actually matters”? I’ve been on this website for 5 years. And if you cannot already tell, I’ve been asked this and seen people asked this for a long time. And I haven’t ever given the answer. You know why? Life moves on beyond Olivia Jean and Jack White. Their personal life and their sex life and their romantic life are theirs. I am not the person who likes to even say that because I think it’s a dumb way to shame fans that are curious. But at this point, it doesn’t matter. They could be. Or they couldn’t be.
The main thing that I don’t like about this question is that it invalidates Olivia as a separate person. People love Jack and ridicule Olivia. She hasn’t done anything actually problematic. If you want to be the person to chalk up the problematic behavior as a reason to hate one of them over the other, hate Jack. So the only thing left to hate her for is her music. Which, to anyone’s stand is up for opinion. If you like it, if you hate it, whatever. Jack sees her potential and is giving her a shot. To be honest, I’d prefer him shove her down his fans’ throats than Tidal. Even if you hate her music, that still isn’t enough to really hate her as a person.
Or do people hate her because they’re territorial and don’t like the idea that Jack actually might be dating her and they think they have a say in his personal choices? That’s what I think. I think that they could be dating and that makes some of the people on here squirm that he’s not as asexual as we might build him up to be. Whatever the reason, Olivia Jean is the focal point of hate because of the misogynist belief that people around Jack are only famous for sleeping with him and not due to the potential and talent he sees in them.
To shortly answer you, I don’t know. But if they are, God speed. But if they aren’t, God speed. I’m not yelling at you, anon. You didn’t sign up to be yelled at and I’m very sorry. But I’m at my breaking point.

You’re missing the whole picture @jackwhitesturntable. Some people have a problem with Jack and Olivia being together and his promotion of her because they had an affair.
And... ? I’m sorry, but I’m not understanding what your blog is supposed to accomplish. What exactly is it that you wish would happen? What would make YOU happy? If everyone stopped supporting Olivia Jean? If Third Man dropped her from the label?
You claim to have an issue with Third Man’s promotion of Olivia, yet your account’s name is lifted from a song of Olivia’s that reflects on her wrongdoings, not to mention “She Was Out to Steal”? Give me a break. It’s not Third Man/Jack you're disgusted with, it’s Olivia.
Literally everyone believes that Third Man’s promotion of Olivia is excessive and tactless. That’s pretty obvious. The difference is that most people who disagree with it are able to move on from it; they don’t let other people’s personal choices in their private lives affect them. Don’t like Olivia and/or Third Man? Don’t support them. Easy as pie. Infidelity will occur until the end of the human race. Not trying to be cynical, that’s just the honest-to-God truth. Affairs are horrible, heartbreaking ordeals, but they happen and are nobody’s business but those involved.

I just read your latest OJ post, and while I do believe that many people dislike Olivia out of jealousy (maybe not of her career or apparent lack of talent, but of Jack's fondness of her), for the record I agree with what you said about Jack needing to control women. I feel bad for Olivia, actually, because she has to deal with fitting in the tiny little box of what's acceptable to Jack White. Plus I thought all of the rules The Black Belles had to follow, like not being allowed to show emotion on stage, was creepy af.
So affairs are no big deal, especially when kids are involved? Have you ever thought that maybe these people who don't like that Olivia had an affair with Jack aren't jealous, but actually really liked Jack and Karen together as a couple and are sickened that he started promoting the hell out of her terrible band one month after the divorce and is now calling her his "favorite chanteuse" even though his ex-wife is still on the label? Jealousy doesn't even factor in.
I didn’t say that. I find affairs to be deplorable, but unfortunately they happen all the time, especially in famous people’s marriages. I actually liked Jack and Karen as a couple, and I like Karen as a person and musician.
My question is if people are sickened at Jack promoting Olivia, why target Olivia? Be like Hood Jack White, sell all your TMR crap, just cease your support full-stop and find other artists and labels you think are worth giving your money to. There are Jack White fan accounts that trash on Olivia and in the same breath praise Jack for being such a genius. That doesn’t make sense to me. It seems that they can excuse him for cheating on his wife because he’s talented and quirky and because they are drawn to his artistic vision and public persona or whatever else. So... if Olivia were more talented than she is, would she get a free pass? Would that make the affair ok? Is it ok for Jack to promote a mistress of his as long as she’s exceptionally talented and/or already well-established in her own right? If Jack had cheated with Alison or Lillie Mae or Ruby Amanfu instead, would people be dedicating so much time to shitting on their musical careers?
I’m sorry, but if Jack had an affair with Olivia while he was still married to Karen, then that’s primarily on Jack. He’s the one who was married with two young kids. Yes, it does reflect poorly on Olivia too because she and Karen seemed to be friends. But placing the blame squarely on “the other woman” is absurd to me. No one can just “make” someone cheat on their spouse. So if you’re gonna give Olivia shit for it then you best be giving Jack just as much.

Ugh. So I haven’t been maintaining this blog just because while I like a few of Olivia's songs, I’m not a die-hard fan of hers; my initial thought process was that she should have a fan presence on Tumblr to counteract all the hate she gets. And anyhow, there’s a really good fan account now that’s constantly updated - Olivia Jean Fan Club, go subscribe if you’re a fan and you haven’t yet. Although I haven't been maintaining this blog, I have been keeping up with the Olivia/Third Man drama, and I gotta say, the hate for Olivia has spiraled out of control. The anti-Olivia Tumblr accounts, the anti-Olivia Instagram accounts, the constant negative anons concerning Olivia that are sent to Olivia supporters and Jack White blogs, and every single one of those disgusting, misogynistic, JEALOUS comments that were posted on articles about her debut album - what the hell is wrong with you people? It’s fine if you don’t enjoy her music, if you think her singing voice is atrocious, even if you find her physically unattractive. Fine, whatever, you’re entitled to your opinions.
You are not entitled to spread hate and harass people and cyberbully while at the same time expecting zero repercussions for your actions. If you don’t like Olivia, luckily for you there’s an easy solution: don’t support her! If you don’t like Third Man endorsing her, don’t support them! I mean, shit, are you people REALLY devoting entire accounts and expending efforts to "spread the truth" about her involvement with Jack? AKA a famous person (allegedly) had an affair with someone and is (allegedly) in a relationship with them now and wants to help them out. That’s the real reason, no matter how much you want to deny it. “No, I hate her because she’s a bad person for breaking up Jack’s marriage!” If that’s your stance and you do claim to hate her because of her alleged involvement in the ending of Jack White’s marriage, then why is Jack absolved of all blame? Why don’t you hold Jack to those same standards? If it’s true, he’s the one that broke the vows he made to his wife, after all. If you can excuse his actions with “B-b-but... he’s actually talented!”, well, then you’ve got a seriously fucked up moral compass and you need to take a step back and take a good hard look at yourself and your values.
And yes, I am aware that Olivia flipped out on a few Instagram users because she’d had enough. Big fucking whoop. She got tired of people accusing her OVER AND OVER for sleeping with Jack White in order to further her career. She gets so much abuse and finally decided to strike back, you know, as those who are bullied often do? Except the problem is that she's more of a public figure than your average bullied person, so obviously the choice to publicly retaliate was not a wise move on her part. Clearly Jack knows that, he keeps his negative opinions to himself for the most part so as not to damage his reputation. His hate for The Black Keys was only discovered through the divorce emails if you’ll recall. Olivia is younger and newer to this. She’s new to the game, so she’s bound to make impulsive mistakes. She said some shitty things out of frustration, I’ll admit they were pretty harsh, but that suddenly makes her Satan? As though none of you saints (Jack White included) has ever reached a breaking point and lashed out at others. Ha. Jesus Christ. To be honest, I agree with her to a point: some of you super obsessive Jack White fans are creepy. If you have a personal vendetta against Olivia and spend all your precious moments digging through social media and posting screenshots of people “outing” the “affair”: YOU ARE CREEPY. And jealous. And sad. L-o-fucking-l at you guys calling her a hypocrite because she ran a White Stripes fan site when she was like, what, 12? Some of you people are 30+ and obsessing over other people’s love lives. Yikes.
In short, stop embarrassing yourselves and get over it. Jack won’t stop associating with Olivia just because you hate her and wish that he would hate her too. Also, as Olivia said, please do try to find a more interesting hobby. It would probably enrich your life and make you less of an angry, bitter, jealous person. :)

What The Fuck Guys: An Open Letter to the Jack White Fandom
Look, I don’t know what is going on with this fandom because I basically stopped checking when it all seemed reduced to quoting ‘Love Interruption’ lyrics. Anyway, I have noticed on here and Instagram a sudden upsurge in hatred for Olivia Jean. I don’t know how much I’m gonna regret posting this, but let’s be blunt here:
The reason you hate Olivia is because you are jealous of her. While she is having a relatively successful musical career (whether or not you think she has the talent deserving of this) and a probable relationship with a famous guy you are all in love with, not to mention the fact she is freaking beautiful, you are all sitting behind your keyboards. Look, maybe her relationship with Jack has aided her career more than you agree with. But no offense, the same was often said of Meg White*. Even if you think OJ is talentless/boring and you don’t like her music, WHICH IS FINE, it is literally impossible for you to make speculations on her relationship with Jack because it has not been made public. It may be the worst kept secret ever, but be real please. You don’t know the girl. Maybe she gives off a bad media impression, but I’d imagine that’s because she can’t be public about her relationship so really all she has to share is her music and photos. What the hell is so wrong about that? At least she has actually done something, unlike say, the Kardashians, who everyone apparently loves.
Bottom line, you know virtually nothing about her and it’s a shame that some of you can’t let your sad little grudge against a complete stranger drop for the sake of the fandom, which you may be aware has been fractured thousands of times in the past by hate against Karen Elson, stalkers and of course hatred for Jack himself.
Also, leave the people alone who disagree with you. You don’t need to send them hate mail and abuse just because they have observed your lame and pathetic behaviour. If they are sending you abuse, ignore them. It is not worth the fight. Olivia is laughing all the way to the fucking bank right now whether you like it or not, so drop it.
*I don’t think Meg White is talentless don’t you even dare suggest that’s what I meant. I also don’t think Olivia Jean is talentless. I didn’t really like her album but I did quite like The Black Belles and either way, I sure can’t sing like her.
Being a woman in the music business, have you encountered any sexism or problems with men in the business? If so, what advice would you give to girls who want to go into the music business or who are already in the music business?
Unfortunately the sexism occurs all the time. I’ve gotten a lot of hatred from people thinking that, because I am a woman, I got to where I am because I did some type of “favor”, if you catch my drift. It’s horrible to hear people talk this way. All female musicians I’ve met in my life have gone through the same thing. It’s pretty unfair. But over time, it’s essential to learn to ignore it.
