"Angels do not lie, Angkasaraya," Alkonost nearly crooned in a lilting, soft voice, his head tilting. But despite the tinge of playfulness, their eyes were still cold as ice.
He paid no mind to the new wolf coming in, but it made their eyes narrow nonetheless. One wrong move and he would end this one. He didn't say anything, but his gaze said it all.
The truth is, Alkonost was cross. He was very very cross. Because they both knew they needed Bayu's intel. They needed him. If they were to do without, they would surely manage, but who knew in how long. Their target seemed to be cautious about not using their powers, save for these occasional pings. In all honesty, Alkonost failed to comprehend what this target's plan was... Not that he could claim to understand a being so far outside of the norm. So warped it might warp the world at large.
No, understanding wasn't the goal. The goal was annihilation.
And this fiend in front of him was offering him to bring his quarry to him...
Alkonost's eyes narrowed further. Silence stretched. Heavy, charged like stormed clouds, stifling and ready to burst.
There had to be a trick somewhere, for this creature to want them out of the way.
... And yet, could they really do without?
"You drive a hard bargain, Fiend," Alkonost finally sighed and looked away first, straightening but looking bored all at once. "I care not for your games, but if it is trust you seek, trust you will get. We will not descend upon this Earth and impede your hunt. You have our word." And when he said this, his voice was that of many.
"But this is not an indefinite oath. You have one week to complete this hunt and call upon us, or we shall come ourselves. There is no time to play games, not while this abomination walks your precious Gaia."
His gaze found Bayu's again, impossibly sharp.
"But if this is a game and you were undeserving of our trust--" For a split second, barely a flash, Alkonost's true form was made visible. A shape impossible to comprehend, filling the whole bedroom and beyond. Oppressive. Stifling. Infinite and eternal, and yet crammed into this space. Its many eyes were focused on Bayu, SEEING him, in him, through him.
But the next fraction of an instant, it was just this seemingly unassuming androgynous body again, smiling at Bayu.
"I will find you. For you are seen. And if you break our trust, we will merrily come down to help you die. Every last one of you."
His smile widened, and the next time Bayu blinked, Alkonost and their peers were gone.
As if they had never been there at all.
