<< Chapter 10
<< Chapter 1
The pilgrims stopped in front of a large round gate decorated with cloud and bonsai motifs. Bajie was very impressed, already imagining the many riches of the Weih family. Wukong announced their arrival by knocking on the door with a celestial lion holding a ring in its mouth. A servant opened the door, staring at the group with concern.
“Announce to your master the arrival of Fu Guzang's daughter and my master sent from Tang's Emperor,” Wukong said curtly.
A few minutes later, the doors swung open to reveal a magnificent interior garden, where stood Zeng Weih and his son Long.
Zeng Weih looked very much like his brother Fu Guzang, a tall, dignified man. He stroked his long, pointed beard while his son Long stood beside him.
Long was handsome, athletic, and well-groomed, but there was something haughty about the way he held his head high, whereas his father carried himself with dignity.
They wore beautiful blue or grayish-green clothes.
Tang Sanzang greeted them respectfully :
“Sir Weih, it is an honor to meet you.”
“My brother informed me of your arrival. My son and I were eager to see my dear niece.” "
When her uncle approached her, Feng was overcome with fear. She tried to calm her trembling, sweaty hands rubbing against each other. Zeng Weih opened his arms as if he wanted to hug her :
"My little Feng, how you've grown ! You've become an absolutely beautiful wom-... What on earth is that ?!"
Feng lowered her head. The inevitable happened : her uncle discovered her scar.
“The road was dangerous and there were many monsters.” Tang Sanzang explained cautiously “Miss Feng was very brave.”
“Brave, ha !” Long's mockery surprised the pilgrims. “A hothead would be more appropriate ! As if pretending to be a man wasn't shameful enough for the family!” "
Zeng Whei raised his hand to stop his son. His reaction was welcome, as Wukong was about to jump at his throat.
“You must be exhausted from this long journey. Come inside and rest.”
Before joining them in the rest period, Feng was invited to freshen up in the company of the servants.
She emerged from a room, beautifully dressed in the style of her uncle's household, wearing a plum-colored hanfu dress. The servants had styled her hair into a high bun and left two strands falling on either side of her face.
“As if a few strands of hair could hide your fault,” she heard someone grumble in the shadows.
Long.
He was waiting for her near a curtain. They were not far from the room where Zeng Whei was receiving his guests. Not wanting to attract attention, Feng whispered :
“Long, I can see that you are no more enthusiastic about this union than I am. Let's at least try to put on a good show in front of our families.”
“Put on a good show ? Ha ! That's a good one coming from you. Do you even realize the situation ? I, the son of the richest and most important man in the county, am supposed to marry one of the most beautiful women in the country. You, the poor merchant's daughter, were chosen by my father. Supposedly to secure the family's assets.”
“My father is much more than just a merchant,” Feng retorted.
“And while my father offers you this immense honor, your father entrusts you to a bunch of good-for-nothings and you ruin your only asset. It was to be expected from a woman who wastes her time playing with a sword. And my father, in his great mercy, has decided to accept you into the family anyway.”
Hearing this, Feng wanted to smile : her uncle was still giving her a chance. But Long didn't give her time to appreciate the news :
"As far as I'm concerned, you represent everything I've hated in a woman. When our engagement was announced, your beauty was praised so highly that I wanted to give you a chance, but you ruined everything again. Once this marriage is consummated, I will find a second wife, this time one worthy of my rank. That shouldn't be difficult. And you, I dare to hope that, for once, you will stay quietly in your corner. Imagine your father's reaction if he saw you return, repudiated by your husband ?"
He left with these last words, satisfied that he had delivered his abominable poison. As his footsteps faded away down the hallway, Feng felt his body freeze.
Long returned to the common room.
“My son, have you seen your cousin ?”
“I'm afraid she's fallen asleep, poor thing. Excuse her, dear father, the journey must have been exhausting.”
“Still, what a lack of manners,” Zeng Whei's wife sneered. “We'll have to correct that before the wedding.”
The pilgrims didn't say a word, but they were thinking the same thing : Feng would never have committed such an affront to his uncle. Why was Whei's son lying ? Which family were they going to leave Feng with ?
Much later that evening, the guests returned to their room. They were promptly invited to continue on their way to the Sacred Scriptures, as the Whei family did not wish to see three demons and a spirit at their wedding.
Wukong pretended to go on guard duty to slip out of the room.
Thanks to his keen sense of smell, he easily found Feng's room in the maze of corridors. There was no light and the atmosphere was freezing cold. Was she really asleep ? It wouldn't be surprising, given the late hour.
Wukong pressed his ear to the door and listened. He could hear crying.
“Feng ?”
He heard her change her mind, try to wipe away her tears and calm her grief, before saying in a voice she wished were less tremulous:
“Wukong ? What are you doing here ?”
“The... The master was worried when he didn't see you tonight. Are you all right ?” "
The door opened slowly.
“Is that you or the master asking me that question ?” She asked with a mischievous smile.
Wukong was somewhat reassured that she was still capable of sarcasm. But he could see how swollen and red her eyes were.
“What happened ?”
Feng glanced down the hallway, suspicious that someone might be listening, and grabbed Wukong by the sleeve to pull him into her room. Hesitant at first, Wukong let her lead him in and heard the door slide shut behind him. Feng kept her forehead pressed against the door for a long moment, as if catching her breath, before telling Wukong what Long had said to her. As he listened, Wukong felt a monstrous rage rising within him, intensified tenfold as Feng held back her tears as best she could. She was desperate, running her hand tirelessly over her scar :
“In a way, I understand him. Who would want a woman with a face like this ?”
“If I were human, I would agree to marry you.”
Feng turned to him with wide, puzzled eyes.
“If I were human !” He repeated it so loudly that one might think he was trying to convince himself.
Feng didn't know what to think.
"Thank you, Wukong. " she whispered, making a final effort to cling to her companion's illusion.
She felt her lip tremble again, a tear running down her cheek. She stood up, embarrassed, and tried to hide. But Wukong grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her back toward him. Feng didn't dare look at him, she was so ashamed. Wukong, the Monkey King, the Great Saint Equal to Heaven, had no use for a crybaby!
“Look at me." He ordered, pulling her hands away from her face. “You are the strongest, bravest girl I know. No female can hold a candle to you.”
Feng let out a quiet but bitter laugh. A warrior does not charm men, she knew that. Wukong took her face in his hands and lifted it up:
“You have the brightest eyes, the most formidable gaze... The chubbiest cheeks...” "
He squeezed her cheeks at the same time, which made her smile again. She tried to make him let go, but to no avail.
“Your husband must make you laugh every day.” Wukong continued with a smirk. “You have such a beautiful laugh, anyone would want to hear it all the time.”
“Wukong, stop it !” Feng laughed.
“You're the daughter of a wealthy merchant, you know how to cook, you do the laundry, you fight demons, you take care of people. There's no one better than you. Your cousin is stupid if he thinks he can find someone better.”
“You're the stupid one.”
He paused for a moment, lingering on her hands while they desperately holding his against her face. Her beautifully shaped smile. Her eyes closed in reassuring warmth.
“That color...” he began, pointing to her new dress. “It doesn't suit you at all.”
“I agree. Long's mother chose it. It's suffocating me. Will you help me take it off?” "
The question took him by surprise. Even Feng, who had meant to joke, regretted immediatly. She wanted to apologize, but Wukong's gaze disarmed her. She had triggered something. He was looking at her with such fury, a dull, terrible fury, like a volcano whose lava was beginning to break through the ground.
“Do you want to marry him ?” she heard him growl close to her ear.
“No.”
“What do you want ?”
Usually, only one wish would come to mind: to be free. But this time, as their hands intertwined, she looked him straight in the eye as if she were facing a wild beast :
“I want...” She swallowed hard, her eyes bouncing between his deep gaze and his parted lips, then changed her mind. “I want you to cross swords with me.” She explained herself when she saw the confusion in his eyes. “You never wanted us to fight together. Do me this small favor.”
They left the house, escaped the walls, and found themselves in the vast meadow, surrounded by tall grass and fireflies.
Wukong had hesitated greatly. It was pure madness ; he should have refused.
Feng took out her two swords. She should have regretted her choice, but as soon as she tied her belt around her waist, she was overcome with a certain enthusiasm.
“Ready to take revenge for all my nastiness ?” she smiled.
Wukong hid a smirk as he pulled his staff out of his ear : it was a very bad idea. But he loved it.
Feng began the duel. They exchanged blows, attacking and countering, their footsteps intertwining in the tall grass. Hundreds of fireflies disturbed by their dance flew away with their laughter.
Of course, Wukong wasn't fighting seriously, and Feng knew full well that she didn't stand a chance against him. Especially in that dress !
They both just wanted to spend time together.
Wukong loved watching Feng smile. He loved hearing her laugh. The way her dimples blushed when she looked at him. Her pupils shining when she was happy.
The glances grew longer, the silences more intense. Each clash brought a brush of skin. From a duel, they moved into a dance.
Wukong blocked a sword strike, Feng spun around and stopped a backhand blow. The clash created sparks. She was pressed against his back. With his staff held horizontally, Wukong prevented her from leaving. Feng enjoyed the warmth of his fur against her shoulders. With his muzzle in her hair, Wukong discreetly sniffed her scent. Feng exhaled so softly that the sound of her voice near his ear made Wukong tremble.
Feng took advantage of this moment of inattention to escape. Wukong caught her and pulled her toward him. Her feet caught in her robe, she lost her balance and found herself almost parallel to the ground, hanging from Wukong's neck, their weapons on the grass.
Their faces were so close. The warmth of their breath, quickened by the effort, caressed their chins. Wukong stood up, pulling Feng with him. His hands rested on her waist, Feng's slid over his chest. He lost himself in the emerald of her eyes. Feng blushed, unable to push him away. Wukong brought her gaze back to him with a tender hand under her chin. She was so beautiful. He rested his forehead against hers and they closed their eyes. Oh, how they had dreamed of such closeness.
“I love you.”
Wukong trembled, savoring each word. He hoped it wasn't a dream. For once, he wanted to be honest with his feelings. He kissed her forehead with all the delicacy one would accord to a fragile butterfly. Then he gently lifted her chin and kissed her lips.
Feng almost flinched. But she didn't want to interrupt this moment.
The kiss was awkward, as neither Feng nor Wukong had any experience, but it was warm and delicious.
He placed his hand on the back of her head while she caressed his neck. A shiver ran through her as she could feel his fangs against her lip. Her delicious scent give Wukong a hard time keeping his cool. They stayed like that for a while, sighing with pleasure between breaths, before separating and bringing their foreheads together again.
“You know" Whispered Wukong "All it would take is one word, just one, and I'll take you with me.”
“You know that's impossible. Your master is virtuous, he would never break the promise he made to my father.”
“I don't care about that promise. I want you with me.”
“He's your master, Wukong. You can't disgrace him. Besides, a woman has no place in a group of pilgrims.” "
She was right ; the presence of a woman among men on a pilgrimage would damage the Buddhist monk's image with the Tang emperor. But he couldn't bring himself to abandon Feng to her cousin Long.
“The road to the sacred scriptures is still long.” Wukong began bitterly but determinedly “But when I have fulfilled my mission, I will be free. I am only a demon with a heart of stone, but if you will have me, I can tell you a place where you will be safe until my return.”
Feng smiled wryly :
“Wukong, you are the most annoying, quarrelsome, and cunning of all the men I have ever met. And you are the only one who accepts me as I am. Of course I want you. You should rather ask yourself if you are making the right choice in choosing me as your wife.”
He chuckled at these words, doing his best to hide the blush that colored his cheeks. He cupped her face and kissed her again :
“You are the most stubborn, the most impertinent, the most adorable creature I know. They would have to kill me to make me stop loving you.”
She laughed softly, tickled by his kisses around her eyes. Wukong gathered her hands in his and kissed them tenderly before whispering:
"Far away in the eastern territories, at the top of Longevity Mountain, lies the monastery of the Great Immortal Zhenyuan. He is my sworn brother. He will welcome you and take care of you until I return."
“Longevity Mountain ? That journey will take me several weeks. Even though I know how to wield a sword, how will I be able to defend myself against the demons ? I doubt that tiger skin will be enough to deter them.”
Wukong swallowed, hesitating for a few seconds before answering.
“Since you have agreed to be mine, I can mark you. That way, the demons will see that you belong to me and will not dare to attack you. But this is an important step, and I will only do it if you agree.”
It didn't take Feng long to understand the concept of marking. Her face lit up with color. She nodded. She agreed.
The tall grass revealed only two intertwined silhouettes. Their naked bodies under the moonlight shared their very first carnal encounter.
Overwhelmed by a whirlwind of intense emotions, Wukong did his best not to give in to his animal instincts and focused on his task. His cucumber had already sliced through Feng's apricot and made its first juice flow. All that remained now was to repeat it until leaving his olfactory imprint on every inch of white skin that Feng left at his disposal. It was so difficult not to let out a grunt here and there, to forget the strength of his grip on an appetizing thigh, to ignore the delicious scent that caressed his nostrils.
But he couldn't ignore the fragile and desirable voice of the one he was possessing when she demanded his attention, his touch, his kisses. The grass caressed her body like a feather, she shivered in the cool breeze and under the caress of his palm. She looked at him, vulnerable, so desirable.
Wukong was going completely mad. He licked Feng's shoulder at length, each stroke of his warm tongue sending a jolt of pleasure through her body, before his fangs pierced her white skin.
The pilgrims left Zeng Weih's house as agreed, at first light. Feng stood beside her uncle and warmly thanked her traveling companions for their efforts in bringing her safely home. Sha, Bajie, and Fruity couldn't help but shed a few tears. Feng herself did her best not to show any emotion. She gave Wukong a bundle of provisions.
“Take care of yourselves.” She said softly.
Wukong nodded in response. Their hands briefly touched, secret witnesses to their promise. Perhaps they had stared at each other a little too long for their attraction to go unnoticed by their companions, but Sha and Bajie only could imagine how far these two had actually gone the night before. They could smell it. Sha tried his best to concentrate on his mantra, his cheeks slightly red. Bajie couldn't suppress a smirk as Wukong passed near to him. The black gaze of the Monkey King calmed him down quickly.
The group finally set off toward the horizon.
Feng left her uncle's house that same day, taking advantage of a moment alone to escape. She set off toward Longevity Mountain, dressed in her yellow tunic and large cape.

Epilogue
Four years later.
The gong sounded throughout the monastery. When the apprentice opened the door, there was no one there. A shadow had slipped in and was leaping from branches to statues, following the paved path. It stopped on a tree, scanning the surroundings.
“What are you looking for so eagerly that you forget your manners, Great Saint?”
Wukong recognized the voice of the Great Immortal Zhenyuan. They walked into the garden. At the Great Immortal's request, Wukong recounted Tang Sanzang's quest and his return to the Tang Emperor. However, Zhenyuan felt his impatience. His mind was somewhere else.
“Did she cause any trouble ?” Asked the Monkey King.
“She adapted very quickly. Pure Wind and Bright Moon are very fond of her. Her apartments are not far away.”
They passed through a moon gate lined with a forest of bamboo.
At the bottom of the path, in front of tall dry stones standing above a pond where water lilies bloomed, a female figure was weaving a basket surrounded by dragonflies.
Wukong advanced cautiously, his eyes wide open.
His footsteps on the cool grass caught the attention of the young woman with her hair cut in a bob. When she turned around, Wukong's heart leapt.
She recognized him too, her eyes sparkling with undiminished love :
Monkey King Reborn x OC - Chapter 10 : An act of kindness for freedom
There's still too much to tell, so there will be an eleventh chapter ! :-)
I am not the author of any of the images on the banner. I wanted a picture that represents Feng as I imagine her, with fierce eyes and natural beauty, but I don't know how to draw.
Summary : Feng was injured after the pilgrims fought an entire village of demons. Despite Fruity's care, she still has a long scar on her face and, as they approach the village of Tao Rang, fears her uncle's reaction.

<< Chapter 1
After their adventure in the village of demons, the pilgrims walked until nightfall. They found shelter under branches so low that they formed an arc covered with a curtain of leaves. The journey had been made in heavy silence, eyes regularly searching for Feng, whose face had darkened deeply since she had displayed that long scar on her cheek.
“I'm going to check out the surroundings.” she said as the pilgrims set up camp.
Wukong followed her quietly to the entrance of the cave, then watched her walk away.
He feels responsible for what had happened to her, as he had been unable to protect her, too focused on his master's safety and so used to seeing Feng fight that he forgot she was not a seasoned fighter.
Fruity comes over and waves something under his chin.
“What's that?”
“A flower,” smiled Fruity, before adding, “A peony.”
“Do I look like someone who likes flowers ?”
“It's for Feng ! She's so sad. It will make her happy. Go give it to her !” Exclaimed the little spirit cheerfully.
“Why should I give it to her instead of you ?”
“She'll be even happier if it's you ! Go give it to her!”
“Give it to her yourself!”
Exasperated, Wukong leaves the cave to calm down.
He couldn't see Feng, so he climbs a tree and scans the surroundings. He spotted her just before she entered a cave. She didn't even seem worried about the possible presence of a beast or demon.
Wukong sighed. Why did she have to be so reckless ?
He enters the cave, which gradually descended into the depths. Water dripped from the ceiling, making the moss-covered stones particularly slippery. Wukong understood what had intrigued Feng : the darkest depths of the cave were covered with phosphorescent mushrooms, and she had certainly ventured there to see them up close.
Wukong heard pebbles rolling and a gasp of surprise before he saw Feng's silhouette in the darkness.
“What the heck are you doing ? Come back before you hurt yourself !”
His voice startled the young woman. She looks at him for a moment, seemingly disappointed to be disturbed but relieved that it was him, before continuing on her way:
“I hear something down below.”
She sounded like a child exploring. Wukong smiles secretly.
"Like the one she had when we first met." He thinks.
He's somewhat relieved that Feng is interested in something other than her scar for a few moments.
He joins her fairly quickly with a few monkey-like leaps. When he appeared on a rock right next to her, Feng almost fell again, and Wukong caught her just in time.
“Told you it's dangerous,” he said to her.
“Danger has never stopped me, you should know that.”
“Honestly, this is ridiculous. Why do you want to go down so badly ?”
“Because tomorrow, I won't be able to go on adventures anymore.”
Her face reflected all her bitterness.
Feng had followed Tang Sanzang and his disciples for one reason : freedom. Freedom that would end once she was married.
Wukong tightens his grip on her hand slightly :
“All right. I'm warning you, we're going to see what's at the bottom of this cave and then we're coming back up. Understood ?”
Feng smiles at him, delighted that he's doing her this favor.
When they reached the floor of the cave, they continued on their way at a steady pace.
Feng noticed that Wukong was still holding her hand. Her cheeks flushed slightly.
They heard a steady, uninterrupted rumbling. The humidity was getting stronger and the vegetation denser. The luminous mushrooms gave way to a dense population of ferns and lampenfloras. A curtain of hanging “coin grass” blocked their path. The rumbling, like that of a dragon, was just behind them. Feng squeezed Wukong's hand, and he suddenly realized that he hadn't let go of Feng since earlier. His heart raced with shame, but his hand didn't let go. Together, they pushed aside the veil of vegetation and discovered a waterfall hidden under the roots of a huge tree. The ground was strewn with silvery plants with white and blue flowers. The waterfall was so clear, filled with luminescent algae, that it shone as brightly as the full moon.
“It's so beautiful...” Feng whispers, amazed.
Wukong, silent, is no less struck by the splendor of the place.
Feng set off to explore. Her eyes wide with wonder at such beauty, she bounded about like a child, excited by every little detail.
Wukong watched her, amused. He leaned against the wall, paying no attention to the white orchid that tickled his cheek. He thought of Fruity and her peony.
“Wukong, come and see!”
Feng's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. The young woman is kneeling above the water, enchanted by the luminescent algae.
“It's wonderful, don't you think?” She says as Wukong stands beside her.
“Yeah, it is. We have to leave now.” Replied the monkey coldly.
Feng sighs, she knew Wukong was capable of carrying her away like a sack if she insisted.
She stands up, and as she turns to him, Wukong held out a branch of white orchids. Feng stands there dumbfounded for a moment. Wukong wants to disappear.
“What… What is it?” she asked.
“For you. Gift.” Replied the simian curtly, his face turning redder and redder. “Its heart looks a bit like a bird. It… It reminded me of you.”
“T-Thank you,” Stammered Feng, finally taking the flower and noticing the shape of a bird in flight in its center. “Thank you very much.”
She is very touched. She never would have believed that Wukong would give her this kind of attention.
They returned to camp in silence.
Feng couldn't help thinking about how carefully Wukong had helped her climb back up, how he had simply held out his hand to her and gently taken her fingers to pull her up to him.
As soon as she got back, Fruity offered her the peony.
“Oh ?” Says the little spirit, noticing the orchid tucked into the collar of her shirt, before turning, euphoric, to Wukong. “Monkey, you gave her a flower after all ?!”
Bajie, Sha, and Tang Sanzang looked up at them in surprise. Wukong and Feng are very embarrassed. Feng hurries to explain that she had found it on the way and decided to keep it.
“As a souvenir of this trip with you.” she finished, a touch of melancholy in her voice.
This would be all the more true tomorrow, when her companions would continue on their way without her.
“I am delighted to see that Miss Feng is feeling better.” Smiles Sha, noticing that the young woman has regained her color and seemed more lively.
“I agree, Sha,” Says Tang Sanzang, a cup of tea in his hand, before adding, “Especially since this flower is so fitting, as it symbolizes the eternal unity of a couple.”
Feng and Wukong swallowed hard.
Feng wondered if Wukong knew, but the monkey was completely unaware of the meaning of this flower !
And if he had known, perhaps he would never have given it to her !
Or perhaps he would ?
Their eyes meet, hesitant, before desperately searching for something else to look at, anything. What was certain was that Feng would take great care of these flowers.
The big day had arrived. Finally, the group of pilgrims arrived at the village of Tao-Ran.
After asking a local resident for directions, Feng made one last request to the holy monk :
“I can't go to my uncle's house looking like this. Can we stop somewhere so I can get ready ?”
They stopped at an inn. Carrying the package given to her by her parents, Feng went up to her room while her companions waited patiently over a cup of tea.
“It's strange to think that Miss Feng will no longer be with us,” sighs Sha.
“Such is life, Sha Wujing.” Tang Sanzang softly smiles as he blew on his tea. “Let's put our sadness aside and wish Miss Feng a happy married life.”
“Yeah, right,” Grumbles Wukong, playing with his already empty cup.
“Brother Monkey, why the long face ? You should be happy to finally be rid of that little girl ! You complained so much about her !”
Wukong growls through clenched teeth, with an irresistible urge to smash the pig's own teeth.
“Bajie, I didn't know you had such a sharp tongue,” Feng said behind him.
Fruity's eyes sparkled.
Feng wears a white petticoat dress draped in transparent blue fabric, a crossover top with long, wide sleeves ending in a faded green. The ensemble is held together by a gold metal belt with delicate geometric decorations. She had pulled her hair back into a low bun to highlight her eyes, delicately made up with red liner and emerald-colored eyeshadow.
She was magnificent. The pilgrims were speechless.
“I look ridiculous, don't I ?” Feng smiled, embarrassed by their silence.
“Ridiculous ?! You look gorgeous !” Exclaimed Sha.
“So, so pretty !” Repeated Fruity, twirling around the young woman.
“Forget the peasant pants, you should dress like this every day !” Added Bajie.
“Bajie, moderate your enthusiasm,” Tang Sanzang urges before addressing the young woman. “Your beauty will delight your uncle, Miss Feng. You bring honor to your family.”
“Thank you, Master.”
Feng scrutinized Wukong's reaction as he rose from his chair when their eyes met.
His silence unsettled her; she didn't know that Monkey King's mind was racing. So many things to do, so many thoughts running through his mind like hares. If his companions hadn't been there, if they had been alone, he would have taken her hand like a delicate flower and kissed it lightly to show his admiration. He would have held her close and breathed in her scent. He would have caressed her face and pressed his forehead against hers. He would have felt her warm breath quicken and desired those red lips on his. He would have taken her in his arms and carried her away to a secret paradise where they could...
“Wukong ?”
HIs master's voice shut down his imagination. Wukong felt ashamed. What was he thinking ?!
Tang Sanzang had given up his seat on Longwang so that Feng wouldn't ruin his nice clothes.
They were crossing a rice field and weren't far from Zeng Weih's house.
Walking beside her, Wukong is lost in deep thought. Feng feels his gaze on her, but now that she's close to her uncle's house, she tries to maintain her dignified posture and carefully avoided looking away from the path ahead.
“We're here.” Announced Sha, pointing to a large house.
“A lord's estate !” Bajie salivated “The little girl is lucky to have his son for a husband !”
Feng feels her heart sink. She's so tense that she was taked by surprise when Longwang, disturbed by a fly, shook his head from mane to tail. Unaccustomed to riding side-saddle and poorly secured, Feng slips from the saddle ! Arms caught her in midair, preventing a nasty fall. When she opens her eyes, she meets Wukong's gaze. The irrepressible desire she had been feeling to stare at him suddenly made her cheeks flush.
“Are you okay ?” He says in a warm, soft voice.
Feng is so embarrassed that she can only nod. They remained like that, gazing into each other's eyes. The silence was awkward, but it was a moment outside of time. A moment secretly and ardently desired.
“Perhaps we should continue...” Whispers Tang Sanzang, hesitant to interrupt them.
Wukong sat Feng down almost too quickly. But still with great delicacy. Longwang lay down to help Feng climb on, and they set off again.

Monkey King Reborn x OC - Chapter 9 : The last battle
Thank you for your support ! It means a lot to me :-)
Summary : Feng, a girl in a rich family, is promised to her cousin Long. Because of certains circumstances, the monk Tang Sanzang and his disciples have to escorte her to him. During their trip, forbidden feelings are growing in Feng and Wukong's heart.
Warning : blood, social pressure on women

After this very cold night, the pilgrims descend the mountain.
“Big brother monkey” Says Bajie with a mischievous smile “I saw you shared your bed again with the missy, didn't you ?”
“Mind you own business.”
“If it bothers you that much, I'd be delighted to replace you.”
Wukong grabbes him by the collar, fangs bared, ready to strike. But a light laugh stoppes him.
Feng is standing behind him, alongside Sha and Tang Sanzang. Her face bathes in the morning light, her shiny hair dancing in the breeze.
She was absolutely gorgeous.
The mere thought of Bajie laying his big, wandering paws on Feng drives Wukong mad with rage ! He releases Bajie with disdain. The pig doesn't wait to be asked twice and run ahead.
Wukong steps aside to let his master pass. Feng walks past him.
They exchanged a glance, Feng smiled at him, and time stood still for Wukong.
“Well, Monkey King ? Having a daydream ?” asked the young woman mischievously.
Wukong blushed, ashamed of having let himself be dazzled by her pretty face.
He slipped away to join his master, hoping to find some peace and quiet. But Tang Sanzang noticed Wukong's glances at Feng, and the tiger skin that she continued to wear at her belt.
“My dear Wukong, I am very happy for you.” He smiles, his palm pressed piously to his heart, while Wukong stares at him with a raised eyebrow. “I am glad you have befriended our little protégée.”
The Monkey King grumbled briefly:
“Don't talk nonsense, master. That girl is getting married, and we'll continue on our way to India. There's no point in becoming friends with her.”
“Friendship is a treasure we must cherish. It is the water that quenches our souls.”
“I prefer the water from rivers.”
Wukong could try to deny it all he wanted, but he felt that his feelings for Feng had changed since they first met.
The mere fact that he had offered to sleep with her to keep her warm was quite remarkable, since he only shared such moments with people of his own kind.
But Feng… She had to be in his field of vision.
It was not that she deserved this kind of attention, Wukong simply needed it. The desire to have her close to him, to capture her attention, to make her smile, these ridiculous little things that had been giving him butterflies in his stomach for some time now.
He felt irrevocably drawn to her.
Such sentimentality annoyed him, but what exasperated him most was that Bajie is right : he was beginning to enjoy her warmth against him.
They had to get to Tao-Ran village as quickly as possible before it was too late.
At the foot of the mountain, they find a mysterious village hidden among the ancient trees. The houses are covered in moss, and not a single ray of sunlight penetrates the canopy, so the lanterns remain lit at all times.
With his nose buried in the map, Sha does not recognize this place. Bajie asks a passerby :
“Excuse me, brave farmer, which way is the village of Tao-Ran ?”
“Tao-Ran ?” the man repeated with a big smile. “But you're already there !” "
He left, laughing. Bajie turns around, angry :
“Little Brother Sha, didn't you say it would be a two-day walk after the mountain before we reached Uncle's village ?”
“Either we walked really fast, or I misread the map.” says Sha, scratching his head.
Feng looks crestfallen. She hadn't imagined her uncle's village to be like this at all, having heard wonderful things about this prosperous and resplendent haven of peace. Her father often said that the village was the pride of his cousin, its leader.
Here, she's seeing a dark and damp landscape, houses sagging under the weight of vegetation, and pale, weary inhabitants.
Perhaps she would feel better once she was at her uncle's house. She approaches a shoe saleswoman :
“Hello, ma'am, I'm looking for Zeng Whei's house.”
The saleswoman stared at Feng from head to toe for a long time, then at her companions, before breaking into a broad smile :
“Zeng Whei is away. He won't be back for several days.”
“Really? What about his son, Long ?”
“He's gone with his father.”
“His wife ?”
"She's gone with her husband and son. "
This was truly unfortunate. Without the master at home, the servants would refuse to let Feng in. She turns to the pilgrims:
“What should I do now ?”
“I can recommend you the excellent inn just a few houses away.” suggested the saleswoman with a commercial smile “My brother will be delighted to welcome you.”
Wukong is suspicious of this opportunistic woman. His master thanks her for her advice and says to his disciples :
“We all are exhausted. Let us rest for a few hours and then we'll go and pay our respects to Zeng Whei. Feng's father's scroll should be enough to convince the servants.”
So they arrive at the famous inn. It is full of people, talking, shouting, and laughing everywhere. When the pilgrims push open the door, the crowd immediately falls silent and all eyes turn to them. The silence makes them feel uncomfortable. Wukong is already playing with his fingers, ready to grab his staff, when a voice rises from the back of the room:
“Welcome, welcome !” A pot-bellied man appears, a towel over his shoulder. “Come and sit down ! Travelers must be treated like royalty !”
They are seated at a large table in the center of the inn, served a fragrant alcohol, and told that the dishes are all equally delicious. Bajie's drooling :
“This is an inn that knows how to welcome its guests!”
Wukong remained on his guard. It was strange for such a renowned inn to welcome dirty and monstrous pilgrims without asking any questions. His gaze shifts to Feng, focused on her reading. Wukong grimaces :
“Close that, you don't need it.”
“It's important.” She replied.
“It's a bunch of nonsense. I told you to close it.”
Feng stepped aside as Wukong tried to snatch his book. Using a clever trick, he managed to grab the object and hoisted it above his head with a triumphant smile.
“Give it back!” Feng orders, lunging at the monkey.
Wukong holds her at bay effortlessly and with great satisfaction. He sticks out his tongue cheekily in response to Feng's growls :
“You stupid monkey ! You can't even read !”
“What's the point of knowing if it's to learn lies? Have you already forgotten the passage about the apricot and the cucumber ?”
Feng blushed with shame at the memory of her traveling companions' faces when she innocently asked them to explain this passage to her. Even now, it rekindles an uneasiness that they would have preferred to forget.
“Wukong, that's enough. Give Feng her book back.” pleaded the monk as Wukong stretched out his arm to prevent Feng from scratching his face.
The Monkey King sighs and grumbles, but obey. Feng stuck her tongue out at him before putting her paper treasure away.
“You'd better throw it into the fire.” insisted the ape.
“Wukong, you don't realize how much effort it takes for women to be good wives. Following this advices will bring honor to my family.”
Wukong snorted, impervious to this kind of concept.
“Hot stuff coming through !”
The innkeeper arrived with his arms laden with two large dishes smelling divine, which he placed on the table.
“Your kindness is honorable, sir.” began Sang Tanzang, his hands clasped in prayer. “But this is far too much for poor monks like us.”
“No fuss! Here, the customer is king!”
And the man left as quickly as he had arrived. Bajie hurries to serve everyone so he could start eating quickly.
Wukong is scanning the room. No other customer had received such a lavish dish, so it is clearly not a commercial gesture.
He stoppes his master from taking his first bite. His action also immobilized his companions, who, apart from Bajie, had not yet touched their food.
The room grew quiet, and their mistrust led to a wave of silence.
From their tables, they all watched him out of the corner of their eyes, without moving a muscle.
One customer discreetly grabbed a dagger from his thigh.
The Monkey King's golden eyes flashed crimson and revealed the trap that had been set around them : the entire village was populated by demons disguised as humans !
The staff with golden rings sprang from Wukong's ear, and his companions grabbed their weapons as the demons threw themselves at them.
Attacks came from all sides, the demons relentlessly pursuing them in an attempt to catch Tang Sanzang, who was hiding under the table.
For Bajie, Sha, and Wukong, these insignificant demons were nothing more than a minor setback.
With his two sharp blades, Feng managed to repel the few demons that broke through the barrier erected by his companions.
“Feng, behind you!” Fruity shouted into her collar, before Feng slit the throat of the demon who had tried to take her by surprise.
“Miss Feng, there are too many of them, get to safety !” begged the monk.
“Don't worry about me, master !” the young woman assured him.
A puddle of mud slipped between their legs and resumed its demon form in front of Feng. She stricks hard in his stomach with her sword, but her blade passes through it without causing the slightest damage ! The demon sneeres and raises its spiked club. Feng dodged a blow so powerful that it smashed the ground and turned it into small wood chips !
The monk is moaning in fear, his head hidden under his long sleeves. Feng takes advantage of the fact that the club was stuck in the floor to cut off the demon's arms. They decomposed into the ground and did not grow back, forcing the demon to retreat and eventually have his head blown off by a blow from a stick.
“Let's go !” shouted Wukong, hoisting his master up.
Sha and Bajie clear the way to the exit, followed by Wukong, Tang Sanzang, Feng and Fruity.
Once outside, they hurry to retrieve White Horse and make their escape. A gigantic tentacled demon is waiting for them. It grabs Feng by the ankle and knocks her down. Feng cut off the tentacle but a huge axe comes crashing down in front of her, preventing her from following her companions.
“Monkey !” calls Fruity.
Wukong heard her call. He saw Feng, exhausted, struggling with a multi-armed opponent. Her last blade was deflecting attacks when a final assault threw her violently to the ground. The demon rejoices.
“Feng !” Wukong shouted.
The golden staff lengthened and pushed the demon back against the inn. Enraged, Wukong is attacking him relentlessly until all that remained is a purple mush mixed with the debris of the inn.
Breathless from his own anger, with a leap, Wukong reachs Feng's side.
“Are you okay ?” he asks.
“It hurts.” she says, grimacing in pain, before looking at the palm of her hand “I'm bleeding a lot. What does it look like ?”
She removes her hand from her face and sees Wukong's eyes widen and Fruity put his hands over his mouth in panick.
“What? What's wrong?”
The rest of the group arrived. They all gasp in horror at the sight of the ugly gash running across her cheek, from the corner of her eye to the angle of her jaw. Seeing the look on their faces, Feng, panicked, crawls on all fours to the first puddle and sees her reflection. She turns pale.
“Oh no…” she whispers, a trembling hand reaching with difficulty toward what she still couldn't believe was real.
But her finger tracing the wound and the pain that followed finally convinced her : she is disfigured. How could she possibly get married in this state ? Tears begins to roll down her cheeks.
“Fruity, you can heal her, can't you?” Wukong asks, almost pleading.
The little spirit doesn't need to be begged. He approaches Feng, supported by Wukong, and reachs out his little hand toward her cheek. A soft, warm glow is enveloping the wound. Gradually, the blood and impurities are removed, the tissue closed, and the skin regained its white color. When the treatment was finished, Feng was still left with a large scar.
“The demon's blade must have been poisoned,” Fruity explains uncertainly. “I'm sorry, this is the best I can do.”
“That's already a lot, thank you, Fruity,” says Feng, looking at herself again in the puddle with a sad smile. “At least I'm not in pain anymore.”
She is frozen above her reflection, as if desperately searching for a solution.
The pilgrims don't know what to say or do to comfort her.
Wukong raises his hand to her face, but before he could touch her, Feng wiped away the rest of her tears with a firm gesture and stood up :
“We're not far from my uncle's village now. We should continue on our way.” "
In heavy silence, they gathered their belongings and left.

<< Chapter 7
<< Chapter 9
<< Chapter 1
Feng reads her mother's book since two days. This woman taked a lot of her time to write this precious book and reunite all of these advises to become a good wife : cooking, cleaning, managing domestic staff, running the household, organizing parties, ensuring the well-being of family members.
None of these is Feng's thing.
What about the personality ? Elegant, calm, cheerful, welcoming, docile, devoted to her husband and ensuring his lineage.
She doesn't recognize herself in this description.
And nothing about weapon, of course.
The pilgrims will spend the night in a mountain cave.
“Sha Wujing, are we far from the village of Tao-Ran?” Asks the monk Tang Sanzang.
“Once we cross this mountain, we'll only be two days' walk away.” Replies Sha after consulting the map.
At the same time, Wukong droppes his tiger skin onto Feng's shoulders as she was rummaging through her bag.
“What the…?! Wukong ! I'm not your maid ! Wash your clothes by yourself !”
“Keep it on you.” Orders the simian “This is the territory of demons. If you keep it, maybe they won't touch you.”
Feng is surprised. Wukong thought about the giant who gave up the idea to eat her because of Great Sage' smell on her. Does he intend to protect her with his -stinky- tiger fur ? Feng is very touched by the attention.
With her new belt, she joins the pilgrims in front of the fire. She hesitated a lot before sitting next to Bajie, but he's the only one who could possibly help her.
“Bajie, I heard you are married. I need your help for something.”
“Not sure that Bajie is the best choice.” Smiles Wukong as he chews a straw.
“Shut up, you stupid monkey ! You just envy my happiness with my lovely Blue Orchidee !” Roars Bajie before talking to Feng with his sweetest voice “Tell me, my dear. How can I help you ?”
“My mother gave me this book. It's supposed to teach me how to become a good wife, but there is a recipe I don't understand.”
Bajie is a little vexed that Feng calls him for his weeding's experience and finally asks him for cooking advices.
He's taking the book as Feng is showing him the difficult part. Few seconds later, Bajie freezes and gives the book back.
“Ask someone else, kid.”
“But, Bajie…”
The pig gruntes and turns his back on her, ending the conversation. Tang Sanzang is offended by his disciple's rude behavior :
“Bajie, when someone asks you for help, you have to do your best for them.”
“Master, you should take a look to this recipe.”
Sha is taking the book and putting it on his master lap. They's starting to read. Gradually, their faces turn as red as peonies. Sha is so stunned that he lets a bubble escape from his mouth.
“What ? What's happening ?” Asks Feng, troubled by their behaviour.
“Hem… I'm afraid this subject is beyond my expertise.” Says the monk, very embarrassed.
“Oh… Okay. What about you, Sha ?”
“Y-You… I don't think you need to learn this recipe. Maybe your stepfamily already knows it !”
Feng doesn't understand, why all the secret ? Tired of all these mysteries, Wukong returns the book to Feng :
“Read it out loud.”
“Wukong, I don't think it's a good idea…” Says Tang Sanzang with a timid voice.
“It's just food !” Replies Wukong harshly “Read now, let's end it !”
So Feng begins to read aloud. It's a recipe based on apricots and cucumbers, which had already intrigued her. There is no need to cut, cook, or process them. The recipe said to make sure the cucumber was firm and the apricot was ripe. You have to put the cucumber in the apricot's slit and let the apricot lost some of its juice.
As Feng read, Wukong understand the situation. The pilgrims hide their shame behind their hands or cover their ears. The monkey, however, starts to snicker. Feng stoppes her reading :
“See ? That's strange, right ?”
“You really don't understand, don't you ?”
The young woman shrugges, she has no idea. Wukong is almost as embarrassed as his companions, but terribly amused by her innocence.
“Do you know how humans make babies ?”
Feng is smiling. Of course she knows, he's just making fun of her !
“Well, it's right in the book : If the marriage is honorable, the bride and groom will be blessed by the gods with the birth of a child. It is therefore the gods who create babies.”
It was so cute. Feng immediately notices the smiles on their faces.
“That's not how it work, kid.” Says softly Bajie.
Wukong kneels down and whispers in her ear for a long time. As he explains this fascinating phenomenon, which had nothing divine about it, Feng looses her breath and turns as red as a bush fire !
Now she realizes that she had just asked four men, including a monk, to enlighten her about the act of lovemaking !
Her embarrassment was such that she hurriedly withdrew. She went to bed and did not return.
In the middle of the night, a figure passes between the sleeping quarters. Wukong opens his eyes slightly and sees Feng wrapped in a blanket sitting at the entrance to the cave. It has started to snow. She's watching the snowflakes dance in front of the curtain of night.
“Aren't you too old to play with the snow ?”
Feng jumps in surprise, before breathing loudly when she sees Wukong approaching.
“I can't sleep because of the cold.” She answers.
“Could it be the recipe that's still bothering you ?” Chuckles Wukong as he's seating next to her.
“I admit it. It was horrible.”
“Don't mention it.”
They stay in silence a few minutes, hoping that sleep will return.
“Wukong, can I ask you something ? Is the male's thing really the size of a cucumber ?”
“EXCUSE ME ?!”
“Hush !” Feng quickly puts her hand on his mouth, and they check that everyone is still asleep “I'm sorry, maybe yours is different because you're a demon…”
“That's not the point, dummy !” Stoppes Wukong, who just wanted to hide to die in embarrassement “Why are you asking ?!”
“Well… After what you told me, I can't really imagine a cucumber, you know… Coming inside me. It's terrify. It must hurt, isn't it ? You know what I'm talking about, right, Ô Handsome Monkey King ?”
She was trying to lighten the mood, but Wukong replies very seriously :
“I don't know, I never made love.”
In reality, Wukong only knows what he has seen humans and demons do. No, this kind of activity has never really interested him. In any case, he has never felt the urge to do it with anyone. Yet the gods know the creatures of all kinds he has encountered during his very long existence, whether during his reign as king of demons, his stay at the Celestial Palace as the Great Saint, or this pilgrimage. Magnificent creatures, of course. Some had tried to win his favor, but none had found grace in his eyes.
He glances discreetly at Feng. If there is one person who do not leave him indifferent, it is her. Courageous, indomitable, combative, curious. Despite her sharp tongue, she has many qualities. And besides, she isn't really ugly.
The young woman sighs. She has no answers to her questions and she is also making a fool of herself. Wukong scratches his head, a little exasperated.
“I never did it. But I know that not every male has a cucumber between their legs.”
Feng stares him, troubled. He finally answered. But somehow she find very funny the picture of a cucumber between legs. She hide a smile, refraining from laughing. Wukong noticed it.
“Some have a hammer. Others have chopstick.”
“Stop it.” Orders Feng, as she's buring her face in the crook of her elbow, but her trembling shoulders betrayed her amusement.
“I said chopstick, but only when they are in good condition !” Adds the simian with a smile in the corner of his mouth “Most of the time they look like noodles. The less fortunate ones have spring rolls, or slugs ! Appetizing, isn't it ?”
“I said, stop !” Feng tries to shut him up, in vain.
“You asked !”
He grabs her hands and laughs with her. Carried away by their bickering, they didn't immediately realize that they had grown closer. Their laughter gradually subsides. Feng looks at her hand enclosed in Wukong's. His large hand, warm like the sun. Wukong notices how small Feng's hand is compared to his. But so soft. And so cold. Her fingernails are blue. A gust of wind remindes them of the snow falling on their feet. They separate, as if awakening from a dream. Feng puts her blanket back over her shoulders.
“I feel like I will not sleep tonight.”
Wukong looks at her. He doesn't feel the cold, he's naturally warmer than others. He's swallowing, scratching his neck, unsure of his question :
“Do… Well, do you want to sleep with me ?”
Feng looks at him, choked by the suggestion.
“To keep you warm !” Adds Wukong quickly “It would be stupid to catch a cold since we're so close to your uncle's house !”
Feng is very troubled. She hesitates to accept. Was it proper for a future bride to sleep with another man ? She had done it before, of course, but that had been a life-or-death situation. And Wukong had only done it because there had been no other choice. But now that she is cured, could she really accept ? Is the cold really that bad ?
Already embarrassed enough by his proposal, Wukong takes her silence as a refusal and stand up :
“Fine, I get it. Goodnight.”
Quickly, Feng grabbes his tail to stop him. The gesture sends a real shock through Wukong's entire body. He turnes around, showing his fangs, and the girl immediately lets go.
“I'm sorry.” She says shyly “Okay, let's sleep together. But only because of the cold, right ?
One moment later, Wukong is waiting on his bed, the blanket pulled up. Feng is still standing, hesitant.
She had really agreed to sleep with a demon. She thinks about her father, her mother, her uncle, her cousin. What would they say if they caught her in this situation ? She clenches her fists.
“Are you coming or not ?”
She kneels at the sound of Wukong's voice.
She doesn't understand her own reaction. Her face is warming up in a way she doesn't like.
She is simply cold. It is her survival instinct, nothing more. It can't be anything else.
After gathering all her composure in a long breath, she's removing her blanket. This gesture takes Wukong's breath away for a second. She's fully clothed, so why did he expect something else ? Her hair are falling down her face as she's crawling forward on all fours, and caressing her pink cheeks as her legs are slipping under the blanket he was holding up.
She places her own blanket on top to add thickness. Wukong notices that she still has his tiger skin tied around her waist. It suits her rather well, with her yellow tunic.
He looks up when she's leaning toward him and her shadow are covering him. For the first time in a very long time, Wukong feels vulnerable. He konws Feng is not a threat, that she do not have the strength to hurt him, but he feels so weak at that moment.
“It's only because of the cold.” She insists as she's tucking her hair behind her ear.
He nods without saying a word. Feng lays down.
The sudden cold makes her skin shiver, and her whole body forces her to seek refuge against this new source of heat.
Wukong is trembling.
Breathe.
Do not forget to breathe.
“I will put my arm on yours shoulders, okay ?” He says, trying to calm his trembling voice.
Feng nods.
Wukong pulls the blanket back over them and puts his arm around her shoulders. It's more comfortable for him that way.
It isn't to have Feng against him. Not at all.
Obsessed with the beating of their own hearts, they hope that the other wouldn't hear them.
“Wukong…” He hears against his bust “Do you sleep often with company ?”
“When I was the king of the Mount of Flowers and Fruits, I was sleeping a lot with my children.”
Feng suddenly stands up :
“Your children ?!”
“My subjects ! I meant my subjects ! I call them children because I'm their king !”
Feng is smiling. Wukong, the fearsome Sun Wukong, king of demons, calls his subjects his children ? She doesn't know this side of his personality. The monkey forces her back into bed and orders her to sleep.
“What's the Mount of Flowers and Fruits look like ?” Asks Feng with a small voice.
“A beautiful place. Unspoiled, prodigious, and abundant nature. We only had to reach out to find ripe, juicy fruit. The rivers were filled with colorful fishs. We were carefree and happy.”
“It looks wonderful. I would love to see it.”
Once again, Wukong hesitates to answer. He's swallowing again, gathered his courage, and speaking in as impassive a voice as he could muster :
“Maybe… When I have found the Sacred Scriptures and my master is safe, I, um… I may be able to take you there.”
Feng wanted to jump up and ask him if he was serious, but she holds herself back with all her might. She mustn't imagine things ; Wukong is only saying that to get her to be quiet and go to sleep.
After all, once he had returned her to her uncle, he would go off on other adventures with his companions and quickly forget her.
Once his mission was accomplished, he would be in such a hurry to return home that he would never think of taking a spoiled little girl like her, married to boot.
He will forget her, and she will become the wife everyone expects her to be.

<<Chapter 6
>>Chapter 8
In the morning, Wukong hears sneers. He opens his eyes and sees Fruity, Bajie and Sha, smiling stupidly. Even his master, behind them, was strange.
“What's your problem, you idiots ?” Asks harshly Wukong.
“Wukong” He hears against his chest.
Feng was here, getting stuck against him, their legs tangled, his arms keeping her close, his tail wrapped around her thigh. She can't move a finger !
She tried to wake him up nicely but he jumps off the bed like a cat next to a cucumber.
“Brother Monkey, it looks like you had a good night's sleep !” Laughs Bajie.
“Shut your mouth or I tear off your tongue !”
“Wukong…” Calls Feng.
She grabbed his fingers. Her voice and touch send a wave of intense heat in Wukong's body. He calms down when he meets her gaze.
“Sha told me everything. Thank your, well… for giving me warmth. Thank you very much.
Thanking the Great Sage equal to Heaven for taking care of a simple human was the minimum she could do ! But why the hell his heart is beating so fast right now ?!
He frees himself from her touch :
“Tch ! I hope you're feeling better now, at least ! We loose too much time because of you ! I'm going to get some food.”
Fruity is going with him. Wukong was sure : Feng isn't cured yet, he saw how her body still shivers.
As he's walking in the forest, he could still smell her scent on his clothes, fresh and sweet like a orange blossom.
Her body was so frail, her skin was so white yet so hot, her perfum was so charming, he would have liked to keep her close to him.
He feels Fruity's look on him.
“Stop staring at me like that.” He orders.
“Monkey, did you like sleeping with Feng ? Will you do it again ?”
“What ?! No ! I slept with her so she can heal faster and we can continue on our travel !”
Fruity laughs behind his little hands. He knew Wukong didn't think a word of this. Wasn't he hugging her in his sleep few minutes ago ?
“I love to sleep with her.” Says the sweet spirit “Feng is kind and warm ! And she smells good !”
“Good for you.”
Wukong is pushing branches and finds a sumptuous osmanthus tree, its white flowers glowing under the sun.
“Beautiful !” Says Fruity with a big smile.
The simian remains silent for a moment, his dark eyes on the tree.
“Her smell was even better.” He murmurs.
Back at the camp, their hands full of apples, Feng had disappeared.
“Where is the girl ?”
“She went to wash herself in the pond.” Says Bajie.
“Alone ?! In her state ?! Which way did she go ?!”
“Wukong.” Stoppes Tang Sanzang with a firm voice “You're not thinking of joining her, do you ?”
Wukong doesn't even know how he could explain when they suddenly hear screaming in the forest.
“Miss Feng !” Says Sha, panicked.
Wukong quickly leaps over the trees and lands beside the pond. A huge demon dripping with water grabbed Feng.
“It's been a long time since I've had such tender flesh within reach!” Sneeres the demon “I'll take great pleasure in cooking you up in my lair !”
Wukong smashes his arm with his magic staff. Feng fall back onto the shore. The demon stands up, also mad with rage :
“Who are you to dare stealing my prey ?! You will pay for this with your life !”
“And you, poor fool, who do you think you're talking to ? Kneel before Sun Wukong !”
“Sun Wukong ? Ha ! The Monkey King is prisoner under his mountain ! Any simien could pretend to be him ! Your arrogance will cost your life !”
Whereas the demon charges, Wukong blows some of his hairs and ten clones appear. He just needs to gesture and they all attack with fierce smiles and eyes like fire. The demon is quickly defeated.
“I give up, I give up !” He screams under the red masse “Please, spare my life ! I didn't know this woman was your mate !”
Wukong, as his clones, freezes.
Feng, his mate ?!
He turns around to observe her reaction but only to see one of his clones hugging her ! He's purring and smiling like an idiot.
Her face red like a tomato, Feng doesn't even try to move as the clone shows his affection.
Wukong growls at him to get his attention, but the clone hisses in response and keeps Feng close to him. Wukong shows his fangs, very upset, but tries to concentrate on the demon :
“She's not my mate !”
“R-Really ? But she smells like you…”
Of course she smells like him, they slept together ! But to say they are married !
“And your clone, he's…”
“Go back to your stupid lair before I kill you !” Orders Wukong, out of rage.
The demon crawles away, snobbing. Wukong faces his clone, who doesn't let Feng go.
“Release her now.” He says with a deep and firm voice.
But the clone doesn't obey. He hisses even more. Does he think Wukong want to steal Feng to him ?
Prisoner, Feng caresses his arm and whispers softly :
“It's okay, I'm safe now.”
The clone whines, kisses her forehead with his nose in a gentle gesture, and then vanishes in a cloud of smoke.
The silence between Wukong and Feng is odd.
“T-Thank you.” Says the young woman “Again. For saving me.”
“Don't sweat it. I just followed my master's orders.”
“No, you didn't.”
Her words surprised him. She looks straight at him with the sweetest eyes he ever saw :
“After all this time travelling with you, I know you're brave and loyal toward your master. But I know you're nice and caring too. In you own way. Maybe you will never admit it, but that's how I see you.”
Then she goes, leaving Wukong with his confusion.
After picking up Feng's stuff, they come back to the camp. Tang Sanzang asks Feng if she's fine and if Wukong has behaved well. Feng meets Wukong's gaze, but he avoids hers.
“Well… Yes, he did. He saved me from a demon.”
“Oh great Buddha, you were probably scared. Do you need some rest ?”
“Thank you for your kindness, master, but I think we should continue on our way. We lost too much time.”
The group is ready for departure. Feng finishes to pack her stuffs when something fell off.
Her father's gift. Or rather her mother's, if she considers the dresses, shoes and jewerlies.
Feng puts them on her package, when she finds a notebook he didn't notice before. She opens it by curiosity. Her eyebrows furrow.
“What is this thing ?”

<<Chapter 7
“She has a fever.” Sha declares.
Feng is breathing rapidly, her face is flushed and sweat is running profusely.
The pilgrims had laid her on her bed. Sha sponged her forehead while Bajie prepared a sedative and Tang Sanzang asked the gods for mercy. As for Wukong, he felt useless.
“What's wrong with her?” Asks the simian, annoyed.
“The harshness of the journey has tired her, her body needs rest.” Explains Sha “Miss Feng is very strong, she endured the journey like us disciples, but she's still a human, she's not as tough as a demon.”
“Poor child.” Sang Tanzang pitied her.
Wukong sighed through his teeth.
Despite the good care of her comrades, Feng ate nothing and drank barely a sip of water at Sha's insistence. She couldn't find the strength to get up and, constantly asleep, often coughed.
Wukong tries to concentrate on the road ahead, but Feng's every cough diverts his attention.
On his shoulder, Fruity worries :
“Poor Feng, I'm sad to see her in such a state.”
Monk Tang Sanzang, Sha and Bajie leave her to sleep. Fruity turns to his simian companion :
“Why don't you go see her ?”
“Why should I ?”
“She's your friend.”
"She's not my friend. She's a drag."
"Meany ! I'm sure if you were sick, Feng would look after you!"
“Nonsense.” Wukong sneeres, slightly bitter “I put my life on the line every day to protect my master, that girl never cared.”
"That's not true ! Feng worries about you all the time !"
Wukong raises an eyebrow, puzzles, then leave out a grunt.
Feng can't sleep. She's hot and cold at the same time, her belly is crying out for food, but everything she swallowes tasted like sand. Her head is spinning and her vision blurred. She hear someone sit down next to her, then see a long brown tail land in front of her eyes.
“See, that wasn't so hard.” Fruity murmures, mischievously.
“Shut up.”
Feng smiles. The Monkey King was honoring her with his presence, even if only from behind. He thinks she's asleep.
He almost jumps when he feels something gently grab his tail. He hates having his tail touched !
He turnes, ready to protest, but Feng's smiling face immediately curbes his ardor. She let out a long, satisfied sigh and looked down at Wukong. Her beautiful green eyes. It had an indecent power over Wukong's mood.
“I thought you were asleep.” he murmures.
Feng shakes her head gently.
“It's not for lack of trying.”
She can't stop smiling. Is Wukong's visit that much fun for her?
“Stop smiling stupidly like that, I'll end up believing you enjoy my company.”
“You have no idea.” She sighs, bringing the appendage closer to her face.
Wukong feels his heart pounding in his chest. A blow, just one, but powerful. Why did she answer him that ? Why doesn't she attack him with a scathing remark to chase him away, like always ?
The nerves in his tail feel her tepid breath between his fur. That breath escaping her pink lips. She looks so vulnerable.
He quickly releases his tail from her hand, startling the young woman.
Wukong had turned around, his tail slapping the ground.
“Sorry, I wasn't trying to upset you.” Says the young woman.
“That would be the first time.” The Monkey King sneered, before taking a softer tone "I'm not upset. I'm not used to people hugging my tail like that. It's usually my enemies who grab it and try to immobilize me."
It is true, Feng has already noticed it during his fight with a demon, so this reflex is hardly surprising.
Wukong thought he'd finished when he felt his tail being manipulated once again. He turnes around to see that Feng was enjoying titillating his appendage with her finger.
“Stop that!” Annoyed the simian.
"When I've just found your weak spot? No way." Feng replies mischievously, as she continues her tickling.
“I don't have a weak spot !”
He wrappes his tail around his waist, annoyed, daring her to do it again.
Feng burst out laughing. A clear laugh that immediately erased Wukong's annoyance.
But this burst of joy brought on a violent coughing fit that sent Feng into a tailspin. Wukong helps her :
“Hold on.”
Feng caught her breath, resting her head against the Great Sage's chest. Once again, she find comfort in his scent of moss and wood.
By evening, Tang Sanzang, Bajie and Sha are asleep. Wukong keeps watch. He's hearing Feng moaning in her sleep.
Fruity is watching her, very worried. He looks up at Wukong with tear-filled eyes :
"She doesn't look well. She's shaking all over."
Wukong approaches and places his hand on her forehead. She is burning up. Yet she trembled, closed in on herself, as if winter is invading her whole being.
“We need to warm her up.” Interjectes Sha from his bed, who had been keeping an ear to Feng's state.
The aquatic demon reases and puts his own blanket over the girl. This generous gesture barely relieved her.
"This won't be enough for the night.” He notices, worried.
“Just take her against you.” Wukong suggestes.
"Are you kidding, monkey brother ? My skin is as cold and airtight as a fish's. I won't bring her any warmth."
“Bajie, then ?”
“I'm afraid he'll crush Miss Feng.”
It was true that Bajie moved a lot in his sleep. This big lump would be able to suffocate her under his weight !
In a way, it suited Wukong not to entrust Feng to his lecherous little brother.
Their revered Master couldn't do it either, for obvious reasons.
Sha looks up at Wukong.
He is the ultimate solution, the only one who could fulfill this mission. But Wukong firmly refuses :
"Take her with me ?! It's out of the question ! I'm the Great Saint Equal to Heaven, not a nanny !"
"Brother monkey, you're her only hope. Without you, who knows if she'll make it through the night."
Wukong watches Feng, covered in sweat, her teeth chattering from the cold despite the two layers of blanket.
Sha and Fruity silently begged for mercy.
The Monkey King, grumbling, finally give in.
Wukong lays down beside Feng.
He hesitates to touch her, yet he has to bring her closer to him.
His hand awkwardly sought out her arm and gently pulled her towards him. His own arm became a cushion for her head, while the other held her to one side.
Instinctively, Feng clings to him, seeking his warmth like a chick against its mother. Her face buried in his neck as her fingers are closing around his jacket.
Wukong swallows as he feels her warm breath in the hollow of his collarbone, her perfume so close to him.
His fur puffed up in a shudder.
Sha is adjusting the blankets, where Feng has almost disappeared, before taking up the lookout post.
But as the night wore on, Wukong is awakened by Feng's mumbling in his sleep. Her tremors had started up again, along with her nightmares.
Wukong knew that warming her up wasn't going to relieve her. He'd have been better off staying at his post and letting Sha worry ! After all, it is just a little fever, it isn't going to kill her.
“Wukong…” he heard.
A small, weak voice, a fragile whisper, escaping from her trembling lips.
“Wukong, don't let go…” she sighs again in her sleep "This isn't funny. I'm scared, don't let go…"
Is she dreaming that she's still on his magic cloud ? How could she think he'd let her fall ? Apart from the fact that his Master would make him pay horribly for it, he could never… At least, it wouldn't seriously occur to him to put Feng's life in danger !
He admits that he had hardly shown her his best side since their meeting. What if she was really afraid of him ?
Wukong doesn't like that idea.
He's embracing her whole, stroking her scalp.
“There… I've got you.” he whisperes softly in her ear "I've got you and I won't let go. I promise."
His lips meets her skin and he places a subtle kiss on her forehead. This gesture of tenderness surprises him.
He glances at his companions. Fortunately, no one have seen him. And Feng seems calmer.
Unlike Wukong, whose heart is beating far too fast for him to get back to sleep right away.
Summary : Wukong and Feng are starting to feel strange near eachother.
Warning : None !
<< Chapter 4
>> Chapter 6
Tang Sanzang's group left the inn at first light. Everybody is ready to go, except Bajie who couldn't close an eyes because of his big brother monkey.
Feng was surprised to find Wukong's vest on her in the morning. He pretended it fell off during the night.
When she returns her tunic dress to Hao, the old woman says :
"You should keep this one."
"Excuse me ?" Asks Feng, thinking she's talking about the habit.
“I saw your luggage. You go for a wedding, don't you ? That's why the monk is here.”
“I'm afraid I don't understand.”
“The monkey. Is he your fiancé, right ? He's quite thoughtful for a demon.”
Feng's face became bright red :
“But he's not my fiancé ! None of them is !”
“I wish you the best.”
“But !”
“Miss Feng, we have to go !” Calls Sha.
After hours of walking, Feng still thinks about Hao's words. And Bajie's too.
Why does everybody seem to believe there's something between Wukong and her ?
He's violent, brutal, full of himself ! Far away from her type !
Her true love should be soft, cultivated, sophisticated, even if he certainly wouldn't accept that Feng keep doing her sword training.
Wukong wouldn't mind.
In fact, he respects her more since he knows her fighting skills.
He's softer too.
And strong.
And reliable.
And Fruity likes him.
He's not bad looking too. For a demon.
He had allure. A handsome stature, a well-shaped head, slender but powerful hands. There is even a certain beauty in watching him flex his muscles…
Wukong turns around when Feng bites her lips. Her cheeks becomes red and she quickly looks at Sha :
“Sha, my dear friend ! I don't remember the last time you told me your story !”
Sha didn't expect this. Shyly, he starts to tell her his story as a celestial soldier. Wukong looks away, to Feng's great relief.
But when the group stops for the night, Wukong goes straight to Feng :
“What's your problem with me ?” He asks, arms crossed.
“What are you talking about ?”
“You avoid me.”
That's true. She avoid to talk to him, to walk near him, to eat next to him.
Because of this stupid love talk !
It was so ridiculous, Feng knows it.
But since the moment she thought Wukong was… desirable, she couldn't control her mind nor her body.
“Oh, so the Great Sage equal to Heaven want my attention ?” She says with irony as she tries to escape.
“I don't need your attention !”
He stoppes her. His eyes dare her to piss him off again. Feng knows he wouldn't harm her, he simply was dominant by nature. It was kind of amusing.
“If that's so, why do you look so desperated ? Don't tell me you are worried that a poor little princess are scared of you ?”
Feng wanted to annoy him, hoping he would leave after a mean remark.
But Wukong doesn't answer.
He looks at her intensly. Like he tries to read her mind. Her soul.
He has pretty eyes. Campfire's flams are lighting in his beautiful brown eyes. Or isn't it his own fire ? His powerful spirit ?
So close to him, she could feel the warmth of his breath fanning a flame in her heart and a crackling in her gut. She wonders what Wukong's lips might feel like on her fingers.
If he takes her hand and kiss it, right here, right now, if he takes her by the waist and stares at her with his fiery eyes, she'd give herself over to him completely.
Feng looked away, embarrassed. Now she was daydreaming again !
“What's going on ?” He asks again, softer.
Oh gods, why did he have to talk to her like that now, when her heart was playing a curious chord ?! Wukong had to be a demon to be able to throw the young woman off balance like that. Never had a man had the manner, whatever his status.
“I…” Startes Feng, playing with her sleeve “I don't avoid you. I'm just…”
“You're just what ?”
Feng has to find something, and fast. Wukong is getting impatient ; it wouldn't be long before he turned on his heel, and then he'd go back to being who he'd been when they first met : tetchy, suspicious, aloof.
“I always wanted to know what it felt like to fly on a cloud.”
The crackling of the fire drowned out the long silence.
Feng is ashamed.
Wukong was bound to call her a child, but she preferred that to confessing her illusions.
She closed her eyes, head down, ready to endure.
“Then let's go.” she heard.
She opens her eyes again and sees Wukong walking towards a tree. He stands still for a moment, before sighing and grunting in Feng's direction:
“Well, are you coming or not ?”
“But… where ?”
"You said you wanted to fly on a cloud, didn't you ? So get over here !"
She joins him, not really knowing what she should do.
“What, you can climb trees, too ?” Wukong grew impatient, “Get on my back, it'll be faster!”
“You want me to ride on your back ?!”
“Come on, don't be precious !”
Without giving her time to react, he grabbes her by the thighs and loads her onto his back like he'd load a barrel.
Caught off guard, Feng instinctively clung to his neck to keep from falling. Her face is as red as a peony :
“Don't you ever do that again !”
"You're strangling me, you idiot ! Put your arms in a sling ! And belt my waist while you're at it, I need my hands!"
Feng didn't appreciate his tone: if she strangled him, he deserved it !
But she is so disturbed by their bodies together that she doesn't dare reply. The last thing she wanted was for the demon to find out.
So she obeyed.
Her trembling hands are encircling his hairy chest diagonally, while her legs clung to his waist.
Wukong straightened up, readjusting his posture.
Feng wasn't comfortable. She doesn't like the beating of her heart, so strong that she fears Wukong would feel it through her back.
But the simian seemes too focused to worry about her comfort. He grabbes the trunk and begin to climb with an ease that impressed Feng greatly. She sometimes forgot that Wukong was a monkey before he was a demon or a pilgrim.
Their heads moves quickly through the foliage to reach the highest branches.
When they reached the top, Wukong pauses.
Feng takes the opportunity to brush her hair out of the leaves but Wukong's hand returnes her to her original position.
His gentleness at this moment disturbes her.
Their faces are so close that she can see the flame shining in Wukong's pupils :
“Hold on tight.”
There are moments like this when Wukong radiated charm. Feng is so used to seeing him grumpy and dry that when he smiled and spoke in such a soft voice, it was hard not to feel a little warmth tickle her stomach.
She closes the belt around her arms, hands firmly on her wrists, and noddes that she is ready.
Then Wukong leapt into the sky!
Even warned, Feng hadn't expected such a dizzying leap ! She wanted to scream, but was running out of air, much to Wukong's delight.
They are just falling again when a thick cloud mass is forming beneath their feet. Here they are, riding a cloud ! Feng couldn't believe her eyes - she felt like she was dreaming !
“It's amazing!” She sighed in wonder.
The cloud is stabilizing and slowing down. The Monkey King sit down.
Impatient as a child, but also cautious, Feng loosen the grip on her legs and sit down on the cloud without letting go of Wukong's shoulder.
She contemplates the forest stretching out beneath her feet, a herd of deer galloping across a meadow, a waterfall crashing into an immense lake. It was fantastic !
A gust of wind almost knocked her off her feet, but fortunately Wukong caught her. She find herself against his back.
“Caution, you idiot.” Says Wukong with a smirk “If you fall, you'll die.”
“You'll catch me before then, won't you ?”
Wukong chuckles.
“Maybe.”
Feng stifles her laughter as she buries her face in the Monkey King's jacket.
His scent is invading her. A smell of earth, moss and blood.
Feng could feel his body warming against the soft warmth.
What a strange sensation. It was almost too hot.
“Hey, you'd better hold on better than that, unless you want to check if I…”
He pauses. Feng stopped moving.

After her amazing fight, Sha offered Feng to teach her some sword handlings before diner. Feng was delighted !
Sometimes Bajie interfered. But his laziness was always caught up with him, and he was content to comment from his bed, pretending keep an eye on Master.
Feng asked Wukong to train her using a staff but the simien refused. He had no time for this childish whim.
But in general, his attitude had changed a lot since the incident with the goblins. He was more inclined to treat Feng as a true member of the group.
The night after the attack, he surprised everybody when he served her food. Ordinarly, he only does it with his master.
The next days, he pays attention to her : prevent her from falling, advise her during her solo training sessions. He doesn't want to train her to staff handlings but he gladly corrects her mistakes. When demons attack, he would be sure that Feng is safe.
Sometimes others pilgrims catch him smiling while he looks at Feng and Fruity play together. Sha and Bajie laugh at him a little, before Wukong murders them with his dark look.
During a particulary rainy day, they arrived on a village lost in the mountains. Bajie suggestes asking for alms at a nice inn. The manager welcomes them kindly :
“We're glad to welcome pilgrims, many stories to hear ! Come, come ! Hua, go and prepare a room for this gentlemens !”
Is the innkeeper blind or did he really think Feng is a boy ? With the hood on her head and her masculin clothes, she may be confused with a boy ! She slappes Bajie's arm since he discreetly makes fun of her, just as Sha and Wukong.
The innkeeper gived them tea and a cup of rice, then escorted them to a fine room with five beds around a nice fireplace. Feng is so happy to sleep in a real bed !
“Don't hesitate to wash yourself in our baths.” Says harchly the innkeeper's wife, hidden behind her husband.
“Did they imply that we reek ?” Guesses Bajie, vexed.
“We aren't smeeling the morning dew either.” Concedes Sha as he sniff himself.
“Give me your clothes and go enjoying the bath.” Suggestes Feng “Especially you, Master. You deserve it.”
“As you do. Don't you wish to go first ?”
“Thank you for your kindness but don't worry about me. If you all go, it gives me time to wash your clothes.”
Feng goes to the kitchens for asking a basin of water. Here she meets Hua, inkeeper's wife. She's a elegant small woman, with silver hair and a straw between her lips. She stares Feng with falcon's eyes and shows her a wash-house in the inner courtyard. Feng thanks her.
The young woman kneels down and let the clothes soak in cold water. Feng notices few sand on Tang Sanzang's clothes and blood on others'. Especially on Wukong's.
“It's normal.” She thinks “He's the most violent among them.”
Many demons have been vanquished thanks to him. Many time he saved their lives. Her life. Now she thinks about it, she never thanks him.
Lost in her memories, her fingers are playing with his vest in the water. She always liked the green paterns. Not really great quality but still nice.
She notices clumsy sewing stitches in the red parts. How many time he sewed new holes after his battles ?
She imagines him topless, his brown fur waving with the fresh wind while his dark eyes are focused on his work, just as they were deeply focused on his restless battles.
“He's so cool.” She hums softely.
A noise in the kitchen made her jump. She must stay focused ! Feng's trying to erease the dirt, in vain. She never washed clothes, only see her servants do it. She was fare more interested in training with her father's guards than doing housework !
“You scrubbe too much.” Says a voice behind her.
It was Hua. She's chewing a piece of grass again and looking at Feng with an annoyed expression. She gives her a package :
“Let me finish this mess and go take a bath.”
“But…”
The old woman gives her a burning glare. No "but" allowed, understood.
In the landing door, Feng is opening the package. A pink tunic dress.
“I cleaned up and closed the bathroom.” Adds Hao “Now you will be the only one to use it. There're only men in the inn, you know.”
Feng's face is suddenly turning red. Savvy grandma !
Some times later, Feng, washed, collected her and her companions' clothes and headed for their room. Hao smiled like a fox when she saw Feng in her pink tunic dress. That being said, she's a kind woman.
In her way to the room, Feng goes thought a pretty garden like she used to have back home. So pacefull, so beautiful.
She sees a simien figure in a tree. Sun Wukong. He's lying on a branch, his tail wagging in the air.
“Wukong ?”
He gasps, almost swallowing his blade of grass. Fruity waves his little hand to greets her with a bright smile. Feng notices Wukong wearing a black tangzhuang with red knots. It fits him pretty well.
“What do you want ?” Asks sharply Wukong, annoyed by being disturbed.
“I get your clothes. Do you want…?”
She only felt a breeze before discovered the simien in front of her, smiling as he get back his property. Without any warning, he starts to undress. Feng closes her eyes instinctively. She feels her cheeks getting rosy.
“You could thank her !” Pouts Fruity, arms crossed as he floats to Feng's head.
“Oy.” Calls Wukong.
Feng opens her eyes. The Monkey King retrieved his usual style and returned his black jacket. He notices the light pink on her cheeks :
“What is it ? Monkey got you tongue ?”
He wanted to make fun of her but she laughs instead : it was the first time Wukong'd told her a joke, usually it was some mean comment.
Wukong feels his heart beating strangely under his skin. Why did her laugh have such an effect on him ? Since the day they meet, she never laughed because of him.
It was kind of nice. Why does he want to do it again ?
They go back together to their room where everybody waited them in their own tangzhuang, green for Sha, beige for Bajie and blue for Tang Sanzang.
They all stared at Feng, in her pink tunic dress, with a look of both surprise and admiration. In her tomboy clothes and personality, they forgot she could be a beautiful woman.
“What have you here, Feng ?” Asks Tang Sanzang.
He isn't talking about her dress, but a bag in her hand.
“Your clothes and… food.” Answers Feng “There is a marketplace nearly. I went shopping for the rest of our trip."
“Good idea, girl !” Congrates Bajie, imagining a feast.
Wukong freezes :
“Wait a minute… Did you go alone ?”
“Well… Yes, I did.”
“In this dress ?!”
“Wukong, what's the matter ?” Asks Tang Sanzang, intrigued “Are you worried that she could meet bad people ? You're so considerate, my dear friend.”
The Monkey King doesn't care about being considerate, it wasn't the problem ! Bajie smiles in a malicious way :
“Master, I think brother Monkey was more scared that some handsome man steals our little Feng !”
Wukong hisses fiercely at Bajie, making the pig swallow his tongue. Then his glare turns over Feng with caution.
The young woman isn't sure she heard correctly. The Great Sage, scared that she could follow an other man ?
When their eyes meet, they feel their whole body burning in deep shyness.
The pilgrims kept smiling behind Wukong for the rest of the evening, avoiding his furious glare. He didn't say a word to Feng since then.
From the window sill, Wukong is on the night shift. Thristy, he bends down to pick up the pitcher.
Everyone is asleep. Fruity takes place near Feng. He's talking and moving a lot in his sleep. Feng turns over and put a gentle hand on him.
Wukong hides his smile behind his cup.
A piece of Feng's dress is sliping off and revealing her leg, and Wukong nearly chokes.
Feng didn't change before going to bed because she wanted to keep her clean clothes for tomorrow morning.
"What a stupid idea ! Now she's almost naked next to four men !" Thinks Wukong.
For a moment, the simien is fascinated by this white, almost shining leg in the heart of this dark room.nHe dismountes from his vantage point and strolles over to her bed. She's soundly asleep. Wukong devoures her whole with his eyes.
So beautiful.
So generous.
So tempting. Like a delicious fruit ready to be eaten.
His hand roses above her thigh, he could already feel its warmth against his palm.
He shakes his head : his Master would read the sutra one thousand times if he catches him like that !
A piggy noise interrupts his no longer innocent thoughts.
Bajie is watching.
His lewd look fades away with the Great Sage's ferocious glare.
This stupid pig was certainely imagining stupid things, maybe some of them are real ! And Wukong hates it.
He covers Feng with her blanket, then his own black jacket. Now he was sure that the incident will never repeat again.
Then he gets up, fists closed, and goes to his perverted companion. Bajie tries to hide under his blanket, pretending being asleep, in vain. His body is shaking as Wukong's steps get close to him. He could feel his menacing shadow covering his large body. He's trembling even more when he feels his heavy breath near his sensible ear and hears a terrible voice :
“Get up, idiot. It's your turn to guard. And don't ever think to let your eyes deviate.”

<<Chapter 1 : The straight cat
<<Chapter 2 : Contract
First days with Tang Sanzang's group were awful.
Daytimes were long and nights too short.
Feng can't feel her feet and her shoulders handle her heavy luggage anymore. She cursed her father to add this useless wedding stuff.
Wukong really enjoyed her frustration. He was hoping she would give up quickly.
But Feng had no intention of giving him this pleasure.
She never openly complained and always did her chores, like bringing wood for fire, giving water to Bai Long Ma or making the beds. Sha and Bajie tried to help her but she firmly refused : she choosed to stay so she had to take responsibility.
At least she doesn't forget her education, and her duty as a future bride. In addition to her chores, she never failed to wash her up, even if hygien isn't a priority for the three demons. At least, when they sleep under the sky, she just sits on her bed, turns back on her companions and wipes her face, neck and shoulders with a wet cloth.
The first time she felt their wide open eyes on her.
Tang Sanzang closed his thoughts in deep meditation but his disciples weren't as gentleman as him.
Feng's moves were so slow, her skin is so white. The cold water is escaping from her neck to slide slowly on her back, making her shiver.
Not any man would not take a look. Even Wukong couldn't help but looking at her now and then.
The disciples eventually get into the habit of this daily grooming. Only Bajie keeps taking a vicious look occasionally, when Wukong or the Master don't pay attention to him.
Few days after leaving her village, Feng starts to smile.
Her anger cooled as she puts her wedding aside. She enjoys her journey and moments of complicity with the pilgrims.
Sure she wasn't at home anymore, with domestic and bath everyday, but a few fresh strawberries or a nice breeze under the trees is fine too.
Her new attitude makes the pilgrims more confortable. They especially appreciate her buckwheat galettes she cooked when she has access to a kitchen.
On the other hand, Wukong didn't change his mind : she doesn't belong here. She's useless and slows them down.
When he talked about it, his master was firm : they must escort Feng to her uncle safely, Wukong had to tolerate her presence. He was so mad about it, he's pouting all day !
One day, the pilgrims met a troup of goblins.
“Master, miss Feng, stay behind us !” Orders Bajie as he's taking his weapon.
They were just some goblins, nothing unbearrable, but so many !
While Wukong, Bajie and Sha are fighting against some of them, others are harshly teasing White Dragon to get the monk on his back or Feng.
Suddenly Feng moves away from White Dragon and starts to rummage the baggages. Goblins come, laughing with a menacing tone.
“Miss Feng !” Calls Tang Sanzang when he realizes.
Wukong heard him and saw Feng alone, oblivious to the danger.
He wants to help but a large amount of enemy immediately slow him down !
Behind Feng, goblins drools as they start to imagine how delicate could be her meat. She turns around and her face becomes as white as her shaking bones.
When Wukong finally frees himself, goblins jump on Feng !
“Feng !” Yells together the four pilgrims.
She disappears under the green mass. Blood's spraying as goblins growl in contentment, ever more numerous.
Tang Sanzang frozes in fright, his hand trembling against his heart but unable to pray.
Escaping Wukong's supervision, Fruity desperatly tries to save his friend as he's punching goblins with his little fists. The ugly creatures noticed the tasty little Manfruit and one of them reaches out his hand toward him.
“Fruity !” Wukong runs, howling with rage.
The goblin is about to put Fruity in his mouth when a shiny blade pierces his heart from behind !
Wukong stoppes, flabbergasted.
The blade definitly cuts the mass in half and Feng bursts out of the crowd, screaming like a warrior !
Her body was drenched by blood and her eyes are as strong as her rage as she slits goblins' stomach and head, not with one but two swords !
Her movements are incredibly fluid and great dexterity, she seems to dance with her weapons.
Goblins retreat, scared.
In the quiet glade, the pilgrims stay speechless in front of Feng.
She's clearly exhausted but her eyes still looking for opponents.
Wukong walks to her, fascinated by her tough face full of fierce determination.
Sure goblins are weak, but Feng was really impressive. He remembers hearing that she trained with her father's guards. So she didn't lie.
Wukong reaches out the sword and takes her hand :
“They're gone.” He says calmly.
Feng's eyes meet Wukong's. They were so intense, but soft. She feels safe and restarts to breath again, little by little. She was so tired she could just go to sleep now.
“Feng !” Calls Fruity as he hugs her face tightly “I was so scared ! I tought they eat you !”
“Oh, Fruity…” She hugs him back.
As she knows him pretty well now, Feng waits for an harsh remark from Wukong.
But he doesn't say a word. Just looking at her.
“That was amazing, miss Feng !” Congratulates Sha with a bright smile.
“Awesome ! You're so skilled, little girl !” Complimentes Bajie.
Tang Sanzang complimentes her too, even if he doesn't approve violence. He was just relieve that Feng is alive.
While she thanks them for their encouragements, Feng couldn't stop looking at Wukong.
Is it her imagination or can she see a light touch of respect in his eyes ?
