Okay so this is gonna be a long post about my ranting. If you don't want to read it, then that's fine, just take a few moments to read a few sentences. Because honestly, it may change your point of view on everything. Or make you unfollow me. I don't know.
what I don't understand is, why people bully. oh my gosh, yada yada - why are you talking about this now bullying has been going on for centuries Christie oh my goodness you've already ranted about this before.
I just want to prove a point this time.
Now, I'm going to talk to you, the bully - not saying any of you are one, but if you have been mean or made fun of somebody before. Did you feel proud afterwards? Wait, scratch that. Of course you did. But that glory of pride and higher aptitude only lasted like... what? 7 seconds? At the most, a minute?
Let me ask you one question though - What made you feel the NEED to point out the flaws on somebody? They obviously already know about their flaws. You don't have to go and turn their flaws into some twisted joke just to get a good laugh from the rest of your friends. It really doesn't make you seem cooler. It makes you seem like a jerk.
Now society. Society is a huge bully. Sure, they go say "be yourself!" but then they immediately judge you for it. So what if you don't have the greatest body, or the prettiest face? Does the outside really matter? This is a biased opinion, but in my case, it's the personality and inside that counts. Like, honestly, if you're a really kind-hearted person deep down, I immediately find you attractive. Respect is so rare in this generation I'm so astounded that it makes me want to just wish I was born in a different century.
Now I'm going to lead into the common factors of what bullying consists of (what that sentence made no sense). Like, for instance, sexuality. I mean, (again, biased opinion) for me I don't care if you're bi, lesbian, gay or whatever. If you're nice to me, and if you respect me, I'll do the same towards you. Simple as that. And if you're homophobic or something... Sorry. That's your opinion and I'll respect that. But that still doesn't give you the right to go spit on gay people like they're disgusting vermin or the cancer of the human race. A gay person is not a gay person - they're still a person. Who just happens to love another person with the same parts as them.
I just find insulting somebody all together really degrading and low-class. I mean, honestly, I know it's your opinion, but do you really need to state it out loud, and make fun of somebody for something they probably-most-likely cannot change?
Another thing that sickens me is when people say that people only commit suicide because they want attention. Are. You. Kidding. Me. Suicide does not kill somebody - sadness does. And that sadness was driven into anger and hating themselves because somebody said something stupid to them, making them think that something was wrong with them. I hear people on the internet and in real life say, "oh, hey, people who cut and are suicidal are just attention seekers."
Duh. Obviously. But not in the negative way. I may be wrong, but in my opinion, they are. It's practically a way of asking for help. And you go ahead and bully them even more. Congrats - you are literally the human cancer of humanity. Oh, and thanks for reading this far. Honestly, you are amazing. My rant is almost finished, so you can go back to your normal lives. The last thing I wanted to say is this; "Despite everything, I still believe that people really are good at heart." If you know that quote, it's by Anne Frank. There isn't really relevance to it for bullying (a more fitting quote would be, "just because somebody isn't your definition of beautiful, doesn't give you the right to call them ugly.") but it's just a quote to think about. Nobody is born evil - nobody is born a bully, or a jerk, or mad. They are driven that way by consequences that have happened to them.
So instead of making fun of somebody and laughing at a cruel joke that somebody made about someone else, GROW UP. If somebody makes fun of someone else, stand up for them. It's really not that hard. Honestly, popularity immediately goes away once you reach college, so it doesn't matter if people think you're stupid or strange or different. And if you've been/are bullied, just go through with it. It honestly isn't the end of the world. There are a lot of jerks in the world you have to deal with. This is gonna be corny, but honestly, everybody is beautiful, inside and out.
And yeah... End to my rant. If you read all of that, you are amazing. And sorry for spamming your newsfeed with that long rant. Continue scrolling on with your life.
