Hey there LabRats!! Straight from the land of Reddit and posted by DarkMatterSoup is a totally 100% accurate depiction of how most of my experiments in grad school went!
Thank you netflix gods for the world's worst movie and David Duchovny failing at pipetting
These days I don't get in the lab much. As a result, this is totally how I pipette.
This punk kid is sucking up liquid into his pipette! He does get some points for otherwise decent technique.
WHERE ARE YOU? This blog is hilarious!!!!
I dunno where I went, but I’m back!
Thanks to Elizabeth E for this shot from Fringe (Season 2, episode 2).
SOOOO many things wrong here. I am calling this particular technique, “French kissing for the 1st time.” Sloppy, overdone, and not very satisfying for anyone. This is pipetting done wrong. Also, this is why we wear gloves people..to protect ourselves from the oozing science! Not sure what’s going on here, but it’s flu season around my house and whatever he’s pipetting looks mostly like what me and my children have been coughing up that last few days (yes, we all got the vaccine).
Thanks to Joanna D. for this submission from the show Helix! Kids, do not try this at home. Pipettes cannot be used to insert RFID chips into your hands.
Those who know me well know that I used to work at Taco Bell from 1996 to 1996. I will cherish the memories of chalupas and taco supremes forever, as well as the stellar pipetting techniques I learned there.
Kudos to Heather C. for this link https://www.theonion.com/taco-bell-warns-employees-against-directly-exposing-ski-1819576531
I’m back after a brief 4 year hiatus! The Google doodle is wrong. DO NOT MOUTH PIPETTE!

Thanks a bunch to sartorialscientist.tumblr.com for this one,
"From Doctor Who season 6 episode 7, 'When a Good Man Goes to War'
She's using the pipette as a weapon. I'd like to think that she would forcibly eject the tip into her attacker's eye."
Ok, I was emailed about these shirts. At first I was like, "I will not be your shill !!!!' However, this one made me laugh because I like both pie (apple) and pets (I have 3, endless fur). You can win this, or something. http://solutions.pipette.com/neuroscience-promo-t-shirts/
Here is a woman that is entirely confident in her pipetting abilities. I hope that isn't methyl mercury or some such thing. Thanks to http://corkescrews.tumblr.com/ for the tip.
More Farscape. Pipettes are really versatile tools. You can pipette your own hand in some sort of autoerotic gesture, or save some dudes life. Your pick!
Thanks to follower SC http://airzephyrus.tumblr.com/ for the gifs!
Ok. Under most circumstances, jabbing a pipette into your friend will not revive them. However, this seems to work in Farscape. I love the dude's reaction at the end....apparently dude's breath is off.
Thanks to follower Tall Kat who sent in this submission and, apparently, is tall.
Hey guys. You might have figured it out, but we are starting to run out of material to post. If you know of any bad pipetting or otherwise funny lab technique from TV or film, or have any funny stuff from your own lab send it in at pipetjockey AT gmail DOT com
Clipped from CSI: Miami, obviously. Apologies for the bad centrifuge joke, it was the best I could come up with.
Thanks for the tip, Anonymous blog follower! This is from Fringe season 2 episode 16. He is using some kind of screen to look into the past. Notice his shock and horror at the end from seeing his own ridiculous use of a micropipette! Also, I'm not entirely sure there is any liquid in the pipette tip.
