"Why are you following me." Cait stared a hole straight into the woman's face, her gaze was so intense. In all honesty, the brunette wasn't entirely sure this girl was actually following her persay - but she had been walking to close for the Homunculus's comfort zone to allow. She was very suspicious, after all.

"Following?" Did this woman have a grasp on what a better word would’ve been, such as ‘why are you here’? Why would she be ‘following’ anyone? She had been simply trying to move quickly-but she had to admit that she didn’t notice the woman. "Um, sorry about that, miss. I’ll stop."

As she made her way across the sidewalk, she began to relax herself. If she showed not even the slightest sign of discomfort (because perhaps the woman might see her) she’d be better off. There was no need to make a fuss over it all. She was an idiot, that was that.

But would she even stop making mistakes like that? Could it be that simple? Why would they continue even when she was wary of them?

But then she heard the woman’s voice again. Kitty slowly stepped back a bit, and turned around. “….really? Well-it’s okay. I understand-I myself can have a bit of a hard time suppressing my emotions on bad days. But it’s okay, r-really.”

At the acceptance of the apology, and the stuttered babbling following it, Caitlin felt her heart reach out towards the girl in empathy. Yes, she had known how it felt, once upon a time - wearing her emotions on her sleeve, more passionate than the flames of a fire in the hearth... it was not an easy position to be in. But one could not change their personality - unless they died.

Which she had, once upon a time.

She mustered a smile onto her face quickly, ever the quaint and gentle girl she should be around the public. "Thank you for accepting my apology, Miss. May I take your name?"

“You have been gone forever and the first thing you do is poke me?”

Kit eyed Cait suspiciously as she seemed to take a bit longer to reply, not to mention she had this certain look in her eyes. It was one she saw a few times before, didn’t take her long to put two and two together to realize she was lying. “I see….” She rubbed her chin slightly before shrugging and deciding to drop the subject, for now at least. “Suppose you could, not like my place is a mess and if you really want too.”

"Why I got him as I wanted a large dog." Kit grinned, the woman said he might not get that big as he appeared to be the runt of the litter. How wrong she was. "Hopefully he remembers you, don’t get too offended if he growls at you. Just will need to get used to you again." She unfolded her arms and motioned Cait to follow her. "Well come on if you want to come visit, could make tea and I know I got a bunch of food kicking around if you are hungry."

A growling dog was the least of Cait's worries. She was sure, without a doubt, that Bear would indeed growl at her presence - not for the lack of familiarity, but moreso for the cold chill of her body, the lack of true life flowing through her veins. Animals had a keen sense of the supernatural and the 'wrong', and the brunette could not deny she found it admirable.

"Now? That would be nice, thank you." Cait moved after Kit instinctively, her mind greatly relieved that the other had ceased questioning of houses and homes. She could only assume that, sharp as the blond was, she had chosen to drop the subject and had noticed how uncomfortable it had made the brunette.

Yeah, it was something she needed to work on quite a bit. For she could get so distracted easily, even when she put her mind into doing something in particular. And it didn’t help that her delusions from being sick were still slightly kicking in.

But she hoped she didn’t annoy the woman too much. Hand pressed slightly to the side of her mouth, trying to think of a response. “O-of course. Again, sorry about that.” She stepped over, and began to slowly continue on her way.

... Her nose wrinkled at the stutter. Definitely a convincing actor, for one so young and seemingly delicate. Then again, she herself appeared delicate and carried an act just fine!

But Cait's near fine sense of character detected that perhaps this girl was not in the wrong here: at all. And if that was true, then she should apologise, and very, very quickly. Giving someone the wrong impression and allowing them to leave with it was not something Cait desired, particularly incase they happened upon each other again. If anything, it would arouse suspicion.

"My apologies," the Homunculus called after her. Waiting to see if the girl would stop, she continued on. "I spoke too harshly. It's been a trying morning for me and I took it out on you, a stranger."

The display of surprise and innocence was rather convincing. For a moment, Cait debated on whether or not this girl was telling her the truth - she had to remind herself that not everyone in Amestris was a lying, bloodthirsty and murderous aggravator. Yet it was the attention she herself seemed to draw from the selection of civilians she was surrounded by.

"Good." It was a curt response; for the Homunculus was still eyeing the woman up for any last signs of hostility. There appeared to be none... perhaps she was erring on the side of caution here. "Then turn around and leave me be."

"A house, huh?" Kit was a bit impressed that Cait managed to get a house, she could only guess who she got it with. However, her mentioning gruesome earlier made her wonder just how they got the house. "Sounds really nice actually, I want a house eventually. Think I could come visit you and see this house sometime in the near future?" She highly doubted Cait would agree, but worth a shot to ask.

Kit paused a moment in thought trying to figure out how big Bear was now. “He is about….” She moved her hand just under her hip about an inch down. “His back goes here on me, so he is pretty big.” She laughed now realizing just how big he has gotten.

"He doesn’t jump up on people anymore, so I think you are safe."

The situation had just gotten worse. For all Cait knew, Kit may have been aware of the woman who previously owned the house: or she may not have, and yet the risk was too great to openly invite her to the seclusive manor she and her husband of sorts were in possession of. But how did one say no outright, particularly to someone this lively and insistent?

She shook her head a little bit, trying to think of a quick answer which would satisfy the other. "Perhaps," The brunette blurted out. "But I would like to visit you first." Well... a poor show of trying to change the subject. Hopefully it would work - for now.

"Yes, that does sound rather large." Cait commented lamely. "If I came to visit you, then I could see him in all his glory, am I right?" Ah, that was a better attempt at shifting the focus. Surely it would be wiser to see Bear - who seemed, by this point, positively giant - in Kit's own home, where he was less likely to damage a friend's belonging's? That should pertain to Kit's interests.

Pleasantly surprised at her response, a warm and genuine smile spread across his features as a hand was held out for a formal greeting. Not many people these days were this polite anymore, and in a way, it felt refreshing.

"My name is Alphonse Elric. But feel free to just stick with Al. It’s easier to remember. A pleasure to meet you, Caitlin. But I’m not holding you up from going somewhere, am I? " A quick glance around told him the streets were as busy as ever, people in a hurry ever unrelenting.

She hesitated at the sight of his hand: of course, her skin was warmer than most Homunculi, yet Cait was all too aware that it was still chilled to the touch in comparison to a normal, live human. But not taking his hand at all would most likely make him suspicious... she prayed he did not put purple eyes and cold skin together and make the correct assumption.

Taking his hand firmly, she shook it daintily - two contrasts in one. Yes, the brunette wanted to present herself as feminine and kind, but also confident and responsible of taking care of herself.

"Alphonse," Cait repeated, bobbing her head up and down as customary to hearing a new name. He was being polite to her - so she was, naturally, returning the favour. Partly to keep up appearances.

"Not at all. I was out for a walk," The brunette lied. "There is no hurry. Tell me more about yourself." She added it as an afterthought, curiouser and curiouser.

Kit eyed Cait a moment wondering just why she was smiling wider for, must be cuz she threatened to kick her ass. Also showing she was still worried about her and they were friends still… weren’t they?

"So you’ve said." She rolled her eyes slightly with a small chuckle. "Is it a house or an apartment place? I kind of picture you with a house as I know you like flowers and stuff…. can’t remember if you gardened at all though." She tapped her chin in thought as she honestly couldn’t remember for the life of her.

"For the most part?" She laughed. "Bear got a bit bigger from the last time you saw him. He is two now actually and I was going to make him a dog friendly birthday cake to celebrate."

Curses. Kit had asked a question she was hoping to avoid... and she couldn't very well skirt around her. There was nothing for it, then - the brunette would keep it brief and short, with enough detail to satisfy the secretary. "A house," She informed her. "Quite quaint and out of the way. Well furnished and suitable."

She then moved straight back into the next topic she had opened up. "How much bigger?" The brunette made sure to let childlike curiosity slip into her voice, hoping it would help further divert Kit's attention from the topic of housing.

"If I recall, he was at least half my height the last time we met."

Dean had just been getting a beer from the fridge when he heard someone speak from behind him. A little startled he spins round.

"Who the hell’re you?"

Dean glanced down at the beer in his hand, then back up at Cait, eyebrow raised a little. “Have you ever had beer before?” It had a particular taste and wasn’t sure if would acquire to her tastes or not.

"Obviously not." She did her best to keep the irritable tone from her voice, lest he reach for his gun in a panic. No, Cait had to refine herself to that sweet, almost cutesy girl that she had been when they'd first met - not the monster she now was.

There were still traces of her former self, however. The capacity to love was not completely gone.

"So may I?" She reached out her hand, waiting.

"Good, good. You haven’t become a sort of hobo moving from place to place." Kit couldn’t help but laugh lowly as that is what her dad and uncle did after they left the orphanage.

"Better be or I will hunt you down and kick that ass of yours!" Kit narrowed her eyes a moment at Cait before she couldn’t keep the glare on her face any longer. Sure she was still really pissed at her for going without a word, but she did come back to see her. "I know you can take care of yourself fine, just would like it if you had a place to call your own is all."

The fact that Kit was threatening to ‘kick her ass’ if she wasn’t already having her ass kicked, really - made her smile all the more. It was somewhat ironic, but definitely a great way of making sure someone knew about your concern.

"And I have a place," Cait finished, concluding that strain of conversation. She was only telling a half lie: it was her place, at least now. The woman formerly owning it had been disposed of a while ago.

"I assume you are keeping well?" The brunette opened, hoping to move onto a different topic lest Kit ask about the home in general.

" And what makes you so certain that you’ve captured my attention? It could be the other way around.." His darkened gaze narrowed for a moment at the woman, cradling his cheek against the inside of his palm. This was a person he’s never seen before, but from the way she was observing him with those eyes of hers… Maybe she’s seen him out in the Civilian area’s of Central?

" Believe me when I say that I’m not staring at you in any sort of special way." A rather quick retort, harmless yet still got his point across. There wasn’t many times when he ventured out from the confines of his own office to escape into the concrete jungle of Central itself, so it wasn’t uncommon whenever he met a civilian he’s never noticed before. Most of the time, his Lieutenant kept up with faces better than him— that was her forte. Still…there was something odd about this woman. Was it because of her direct approach to him, or the calmness of her doing so. Many here knew of the Flame Alchemist’s short fuse of a temper— the kind that burned other’s just as much as his own fire. ” Bother me— no, not yet.” His brows remained furrowed, like it was their natural state upon his features; creating that ever so deepened lines along the top of the bridge of his nose. Adjusting the weight of his jawline against his palm, those clothed digits of his tapped in a rhythm along the dips and curvature of his face. ” Do you have any business with the Military, Miss?”

Oh, but he was. Perhaps her original assumption had been correct: he did stare rather ravishingly whether he realised it or not. Besides, there seemed to be a fire to this man's gaze that would put an enthusiastic child's to shame. There would be no stopping this militant, should he choose to do something he desires - that much was obvious.

And as such, he desired her history. How could Cait refuse him? She had nothing to hide - well, nothing that she knew would be particularly damaging. There was that incident with the man Sullivan - the one who had killed her, no less - but since he was dead and gone, there was no harm in mentioning his name.

"None at the present." She kept her tone light, and crisp; an air of indifference. "The man from your 'Military' that gave me 'business' is long since dead. Sir." The last word had an edge of tension to it. The brunette was tempting fate by being so bold with a man whose job it was to kill the likes of things like her, but it was almost... fun, the adrenaline kick it gave her. Alphonse would not be pleased at all.

Except this one was a woman and seemed... not quite so relaxed as the other Cait had seen. No, this woman was almost intimidating in her stance.

She appeared to be... well, the brunette was not quite sure. In actual fact, the woman looked somewhat lost. Which in itself was a bit strange, especially given the presence she had.

"Are you well?" Cait asked, wary of questioning the woman at all. She had to make sure that her eyes weren't seen; to that end, the girl tossed her head to the side a little, hoping to keep the bangs in the way of her face to better keep herself hidden in plain sight.

"The way you were staring," The brunette answered, rather bluntly. He had a rapture to his gaze that was almost,,, unhealthy. She didn't quite like it; but then again, there were plenty of traits amongst people that one didn't have to like, and just merely accept.

Yes, this man was definitely familiar. Cait did not know anyone of the Amestris military, persay - only passing glances of people that were deemed 'popular' or 'important' in the eyes of the populace. Particularly now, after becoming a recluse in the wake of her new lease of life, she was not keeping up with the times.

"Does something bother you?" Cait pressed further, taking in his feature with her stark, violet eyes. It was either the eerie familiarity of his face, or the strange... sense of connection she could feel from him that had made her ask him so brusquely.

Her laugh brought a flutter to his heart and he couldn’t help but give her a brief smile in return. He had truly missed the musicality of it; it was a melody that sang in his entire being every time she did it. With it now, a piece of him in the back of his mind was tempted to reach down and sweep her off her feet, kiss her while swirling her around as he had done so many times before. The brightness of her presence had him hoping that they could drop this messy business, share a bed once more, and live as though she had never left.

The flutter in his heart because to fall as he began to wonder how many times he had made her laugh, compared to how many times he had made her cry, or yell, or shun him. And it finally sunk when the topic at hand was addressed, and Caitlin voiced her doubt towards his proposition. When she tore the skin of her lip from biting it so hard, drawing a few droplets of blood, he pulled up the sleeve of his shirt slightly to cover his hand and wiped it away with the cuff.

No more blood.

"You won’t," he replied, lowering his hand to touch her chin once the blood was washed away. "You won’t fail, because I won’t let you. If there’s anything I’m set on not letting you do, it’s that. You can stay, you can leave, but you will not kill. No more pain, no more blood.”

"And in return, you won’t let me fail. We’ll protect each other. This is our vow, Caitlin," He moved his thumb, stroking the skin of her face. "whether we manage to ever get married or not. This is it. This is all I ask, all I will ever ask.

"And if I fail, whether it be by allowing you to kill or allowing myself to kill, I’ll be the one to leave. This I promise. So you will not fail, because I want to stay by your side."
